Website Version 3.3, yes! Here is a very short update. I'm on the tightest Saturday schedule so I got some important things to do and then I have to head out for a friend's late birthday party. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and a great time shopping at Black Friday if you had any of those two events! See you next week when all college application worries are gone for sure! :)

Anyway, this is Matthew Tran, offering a story for your boredom, although reading is probably boring to you guys already anyways. Still, take the time to look around I guess!
This story has a rough draft title: Fires of the sky.
This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. At a glimpse, he can see something in the sky. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. Will Matt explain his powers to the whole world and ask for help to change him back into a normal person?"

Episode 45: A Cheated Misunderstanding - Part 2
Episode 45 – A Cheated Misunderstanding – Part 2
The sky was getting a bit moist and the clouds seemed to cover the sky now. Now that the first day of finals is over, all students may leave two hours early from school at noon once their second and third period classes end. At the end of second period, Mariel saw Matt heading towards their third period class. Mariel screamed at him, “Hey you, stop there!”
Matt made a sudden stop and he innocently asked her what was going on. Mariel was walking slowly in circles around him, examining if there were flames coming out of his body, “You didn’t happen to… cheat, did you?”
Matt panicked. “Me? Cheat on what? Don’t tell me it’s the same thing that Alex told me like two hours ago.”
“Maybe it is the same thing! But, it is all over the school. People want to see actual flames come out of you. I mean seriously, 5:02? That’s insane. With a weak body like that- (‘Hey!’ Matt said while Mariel was talking), you can’t run fast.”
“You can’t judge me just because I’m skinny. You have to admit that 8:12 is better than most people’s mile times.”
“That’s because they don’t try as hard as you. But anyway, I’m onto you. You and your fire powers might be exposed if you can’t handle this right.” Mariel gave him a tick-tock finger expression and then she went inside their science class. Matt sat down outside covering his face, “Argh, what am I supposed to do? A candle this time isn’t going to help me.” He suddenly had a thought. “Is Jaime trying to blackmail me with this rumor?”
Matt decided to enter his science class and half the class was watching him. Matt sat down and took a glance at Jaime who also did the same. Matt faced forward and class began. “(Darn him...)”

Two hours later, class ended and Jaime came up to Matt, “Hey, don’t tell me you cheated again.~”
Matt clenched his fists, “Why would you suddenly come up to me like that? I didn’t cheat. Maybe you did too.”
Jaime warned him, “I’m telling you, go check the men’s lockers. You’re third place with a mile time of 5:02. Now that’s cheating. Either you hacked into the records and changed your time, or you really did abuse your fire powers just to get a good grade in PE.”
Matt rolled his eyes. “Oh come on, I don’t need to cheat to get an A in PE. I know that, you know that, everyone knows that.”
Jaime laughed, “Hah! That’s a different story when it comes to running the mile.”
“Maybe you cheated on the science test too. Seriously though, I can’t believe you of all people would tell others that I cheated on the mile. Look at that face of yours. I know you’re the one who changed the ranking of my mile time and told everyone that I used my fire powers to cheat. I’m telling you, exposing my fire powers is not the coolest thing ever. What if I exposed your shadow powers?”
Jaime said without care still, “Well, you really did tell people about my shadow powers. People have been telling me they saw me use some kind of shadow to see the answer key for the English test. I seriously didn’t do that yet you told people that I did.”
“No I didn’t!”
“Eh, well who else would do that? There’s only about like six people who know about my shadow powers. I know the other five wouldn’t tell and expose it because they have nothing against me. It looks like you do though.”
Matt became frustrated, especially at the fact that Jaime didn’t act seriously while arguing with him, “I don’t have anything against you. It’s just what you did to save yourself on the English test. Did you deserve that A?”
Jaime took a step away, “It’s just pure luck, Matt.” He took out his cellphone, “Well whatever. I don’t want to deal with this anymore.”
Matt pointed at his cellphone, “And what do you think you’re doing with that cellphone?”
“You’re being paranoid now. It’s just me going to Arkon’s Magic because Yessenia said she will be there to research more about what the place is about. See ya.”
Jaime vanished away and Matt was still angry. “Gr, that jerk!” He was looking for someone nearby and he saw Danny. Matt randomly took Danny’s cellphone away and yelled, “See ya!” Matt vanished away into Arkon’s Magic.
Danny fell onto the floor, “Awr, he stole my cellphone!”
Mariel giggled, “Loser!”

In Arkon’s Magic, Matt fell on his behind but he was in a hurry so the pain was not much of a problem. Matt quickly got up and he took a look around. He tried to find Yessenia and Jaime but they were nowhere to be seen. “The castle!” he thought. After all, Arkon’s Magic only had a castle within the area.
Within the castle, Jaime and Yessenia were talking to each other. Yessenia told him, “From what I see, this castle belongs to Jon. I do not know if you have noticed, but his castle was constantly changing when he had his disabling powers. Now that he has no powers at all, I cannot seem to figure out what this castle is for.”
“You mean this castle froze since Jon lost his powers in Olympia?”
Yessenia nodded. “Yes, I think Arkon’s Magic is a home for all power users. The thing that confuses me a lot is that if it really is a home for us to hide in whenever things go wrong, why is only Jon’s home shown? Look around outside. There is completely nothing.”
Jaime tapped his right foot to show that he was wondering as well. “That is pretty interesting.”
Yessenia softly laughed. “And as I said, people like us hide from our problems by going here. What is yours?”
Jaime became embarrassed from her natural instinct. “O-Oh, you knew. Well… there’s this rumor going on about me cheating on the English test and the first person I heard about it from was Matt. Then he got mad at me and the next day he started blaming me for telling people he used fire powers during the mile.”
Yessenia stood up from her research and said to him, “Are you sure about that? Matt is not that kind of person to mindlessly use his fire powers in public. To me, I think he is really stubborn but he is not that stupid to expose himself that way.”
“Well it beats me. Right now, I’m just trying to avoid him because he might be mad at me.”
Yessenia questioned him, “You’re not mad at all that he’s blaming you for the rumors about him?”
“Why would I be mad? The same thing is happening to me and yes I sorta did blame him for the rumors about me too, but I’m sort of doubting it.”
Matt was outside the castle but he could hear them talking. Matt’s heart sank since he felt bad that all of the blaming went towards Jaime. “(What was I thinking?)”
Yessenia took out her cellphone, “Well, whenever you feel like going back to the real world, just make sure you are good at handling things from here. You have to start learning how to put a barrier around the rumor and make sure people’s minds are being turned around.”
“You mean make another lie in order to make the rumor proven to be fake?”
“Exactly. It is easier than you think, really. I have to tell Santi about what I think about this place. So, see you in a bit. I am sorry if I was not much of help but I am really busy right now. See you later!”
As Yessenia vanished, Jaime thought about their conversation. “Hm… what should I do…” He decided to leave the castle in order to take a look at the empty field again. He became curious about if his home was in Arkon’s Magic, then where would it be sitting at? From outside, Matt could hear Jaime’s footsteps coming louder and louder.
Matt quickly shuffled through his pockets to look for Danny’s cellphone, “Come on, come on, where is it…”
Jaime opened the door and he saw Matt, “What the hell? It’s you again.”
Matt began to act normal, “Eheh, hey.”
Jaime crossed his arms, “Why are you following me? Are you trying to pick a fight with me or something since you’re here?”
Matt took a step back from surprise, “Wha? No- Yes, no!” Matt became confused as to act as if he did not listen in on Jaime’s conversation with Yessenia or not.
A shadow under Jaime began to slowly appear. “What was that?”
Matt placed both hands in his pockets to look for the cellphone but Jaime misunderstood, thinking that Matt was about to attack. Jaime threw a shadow at him and Matt fell to the ground. Matt got angry, “What was that for?!” He became angry and he tried to throw two fireballs at Jaime. Jaime blocked them with a shadowy veil. “Ergh, no fair!”
Jaime threw another shadow but Matt threw a fireball at it and Jaime kneeled down from pain. “Augh, damn it…”
Matt became proud, “Hah! Now I know your weakness. Your shadow is you. If your shadow gets hurt, you get hurt.”
“You just have no barrier to use unlike most power users. Your weakness is a bit too general, don’t you think? Hehe.” Jaime smiled.
Matt clenched his fists, “I don’t need any barrier.” Matt took another step back and he started having flames appear on his fists. He ran towards Jaime, avoiding all the shadows that Jaime had been tossing from the ground. Matt jumped up and he flew down towards Jaime. Jaime ducked and Matt unintentionally jumped over. He landed like leopard. He quickly got up and said with some breath left, “Ergh, you’re just good at avoiding now, aren’t you?”
Jaime began to laugh, “Ahahah, no. You’re a bit too slow for someone who uses powers especially when it has to do with fire.” Jaime threw a shadow at Matt unexpectedly and Matt fell again.
Matt coughed and said while kneeling, “N-No fair… you jerk…!” Matt stood up again.
Jaime thought in his mind, “(What?! How is he still able to get up?)”
Jaime threw another shadow through the ground towards Matt and Matt quickly knelt down, punching the shadow. Jaime was rocking side to side now as if he was set into confusion. Matt ran towards Jaime and he punched him with a firing fist.
Jaime was on the floor, feeling just as tired as Matt now, “It’s a good thing you’re not so strong in general because that punch was not even strong.”
Matt smiled and asked in a joking matter, “Why didn’t you get set on fire?~”
Jaime responded, “Your fire powers aren’t supposed to be that deadly. Right now, your fire is just a big sack of heat.” They both stood up at the same time.
Matt suddenly stopped, “Hey…”
Jaime raised his right eyebrow and he said in confusion, “What the? What do you want now?”
Matt said, “I lost Danny’s cellphone around here. All I wanted was to leave right after I heard your conversation with Yessenia.”
Jaime was joking around, “You little wimp, hah. I’m leaving. I guess I won then?”
Matt’s eyes were somewhat red. He seemed to feel a bit too shameful about everything that had happened, “I don’t know what’s going on, Jaime! I thought you really did cheat on the English test but you kept whining to Yessenia about how you didn’t and that I never believed you. Then all of this rumor stuff about us two is all fake and now you’re making fun of me just because you think I’m running away. I’m just done with this stupid problem of ours. It’s all just a misunderstanding and all I wanted were things to go back to the way it was before the English test.”
Jaime saw Matt’s serious face so he suddenly stopped smiling. “Uh… Well, I thought the same too, Matt. I really wanted all this crap to be over but I was too ashamed to admit that I was wrong. But we’re both wrong, aren’t we?”
Matt nodded, “I guess you could say that. Why don’t we just pretend that this never happened?”
Jaime shook his head, “No. I think it’s better to say it’s a lesson learned. Misunderstandings are really important to look over. The only problem now is about who really started the rumors.”
Matt agreed with him, “You’re right. I overheard Yessenia telling you about how you should solve these problems yourself. Santi told me about this and he also helped me on it. Like two weeks ago, Santi gave me a candle and said that I should use it as an excuse to say that I needed it for warmth. A girl named Sammy said she saw me use fire powers no my sweater. To be honest, I did but I thought no one was around. Anyway, we have to solve it ourselves.”
Jaime questioned him, “But how are we going to do that?”
Matt shrugged. “Who knows?” Matt was feeling better and now the only problem was to figure out how to reverse people’s minds of the rumors between him and Jaime. “Let’s just leave it as it is. No one has proof that we used it for our grades. Besides, I trust that you really did get lucky on the test.”
Jaime added, “And I wouldn’t care about if you got a 5:02 on your mile. You would have still gotten an A without it so it doesn’t matter. So, I agree. Let’s just leave things the way they are…”

Episode 44 – A Cheated Misunderstanding – Part 1
It was finals week. All freshmen students’ first semester was coming to an end and it all depended on the final exams. For first period, all students in PE had to take the mile. Matt finished and he fell to the floor in exhaust. Shirley arrived after and knelt down. Alex was nearby the both of them.
Shirley tried to breathe for air. She sat down on the bleacher steps and said to them, “Oh boy… who knew the miles can get so annoying.” She said bluntly at Matt, “And you idiot, since when did you get faster than me?”
Matt joked, “Since you started eating all that candy from your birthday!”
Shirley gasped with a reddish face, “Excuse me?!?! Come here!” Matt barely realized Shirley had more energy to run but Matt could not. She slapped him on both arms, making sure he felt pain, “You shouldn’t even be joking about it you stupid son of a!...”
“Everyone report to the basketball field!” screamed out the person with the megaphone.
Alex turned to the person holding the megaphone, “That girl used it at the perfect time before Shirley could say anymore… Ah~ Oh well, I still got some energy in me.”

In English class, Matt had his head on the table, “Exhausted… two more hours of school in the same class until I’m out.”
Mariel knelt down beside him, “Dude, class hasn’t even started yet and you look super tired.”
Shirley slapped his head, “Eh, I knew he wasn’t going to last. I wonder why he’s so tired.”
Matt said angrily, “Oh gee, I wonder why?!”
The teacher up front called out to the class, “Alright, class! I will be giving you a test on the mythical Gods and what they do. Now, get back to your seats.”
The whole class murmured and whined. Shirley said sadly, “Aw, I thought we were done with that stuff!”
Matt was suddenly reminded of Erica back in Olympia. “Ugh… It’s still sad.” Matt felt his head and he wasn’t doing so well.
Santi poked his back, “What are you doing? We’re going to take a test.”
Matt whispered, “It’s nothing important. Don’t worry about it.”
As the class was starting their test, everyone became focused on their exams. Matt looked at the questions but most of them had nothing to do with what he studied. He was feeling nervous and his fire powers were making him feel overheated. Because of his powers, he could feel a strange essence nearby him. He took his eyes off the paper and he began to quietly gasp to himself. He looked around, making sure there was nothing around him to make him feel weird. As he was looking around, he noticed a shadow from below him. Matt was concerned about what this might have been.
Moments later as the whole class was resting and talking to each other, the teacher posted up the grades. Santi and Yessenia gave each other a high-five. Yessenia took her test and exclaimed, “Awesome! I got 47 out of 50!”
“So did I!” Santi felt proud of himself.
Shirley looked at her score, “Oh that’s great. 32 out of 50…”
Matt took his paper and noticed it was the same, “Same here…”
Mariel crumbled up her exam, “This is horrible! Ergh… Well who cares? Most of us got in the high 20’s or low 30’s. It doesn’t matter, right?”
“Hell yeah!!” Jaime screamed out. The whole class was startled from his shrill cry.
Yessenia said in surprise, “42 out of 50?!”
Shirley pushed some students aside, including Matt as she said in shame, “Ergh… how could this be? You’re supposed to be the most fail one in this class. I expected you to get in the 10’s or something. How is this possible? How did you beat me?!”
Jaime felt defenseless. All he could give was an unsure expression. Matt stared at Jaime’s expressions carefully but he could not get anything out of him. Mariel turned to Matt, “Hey, why are you staring at him like that?”
Matt turned away, “Hm… never mind. I thought something went on.” He began to walk towards an area in the room where no students stood around, “(That’s really weird… In front of where he sits is Yessenia yet there was no way she could have given him answers. Copying that much would be annoying and it would take awhile which would make us notice them eventually. Next to him was Peter and he didn’t know as much as I did either. That 42… He seemed a bit too lucky. He looks innocent though. I guess I should just trust him on this.)”

After another hour, sixth period finally ended. All the students seemed to loiter around but Matt went ahead and left the room. He did not want anyone see him leave since he was trying to ditch badminton conditioning. He was too tired from the exams this day and he also had another finals day tomorrow. As he was hiding behind one of the trailer buildings, he noticed a bird’s shadow pass by him from the ground. “Oh shoot, that scared me.” He looked up to see where the bird was but he could not seem to find it. “What the heck? Where did it go?”
He took another step but he suddenly made a quick stop. His eyes opened wide and he began to startle from the thought of the shadow actually coming from Jaime. Jaime appeared out of the shadow and he had his arms crossed. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Matt almost fell backwards as he said, “Ah- I…! What are you doing, using your powers freely like that?”
Jaime laughed out loud, “Ahah! Don’t try to change the subject. Don’t you have a conditioning to go to?”
“N-No… I’m busy today.”
“With what?”
“Why do you care?” Matt could see the smirk on Jaime’s face. He quickly knew that he was right all along. “At least I don’t cheat on my test.”
“Cheat? Why would I cheat?”
Matt became angry at such a lie. “Don’t try to act all confused. I know you used your shadow powers to look at the answer sheet on our teacher’s desk.”
“Hold on. What are you talking about?”
“I meant what I said. It’s easy to understand. It’s either you did it, or you didn’t.” Matt was eager to fish out a few answers from Jaime but Jaime continued to look clueless.
Matt clenched his fists, “I can’t believe you. You’re still trying you lie your way out of it. (That stupid smile on his face earlier… I knew something was wrong!)”
Jaime began to laugh again, “Ahahah, you must be going crazy.” He started walking closer towards Matt, “What makes you think I cheated on that test?”
Matt unintentionally threw a fireball at Jaime. Matt closed his eyes right after, shaking, “Stay back! Get away from me. After finding out that you’re such a cheater, I already figured you were a bad guy.”
Jaime blocked the fireball with a shadowy veil, “Hm? Just because you think I cheated? Haven’t you cheated in your life too?”
“Not desperately enough to change my final grade by cheating such a huge test. It just shows how bad of a person you are. I can’t believe you would do such a thing of all people.”
“You think I’m that kind of person, huh?”
Matt had to think twice about it again. “Yes.”
Jaime sighed and said, “Oh well~… I guess I have to respect your opinion then. But really, cheating isn’t really a big deal. Everyone does it.” Jaime said in a different tone, “You should try it sometime.” Jaime vanished away as a shadow and Matt clenched his teeth in anger.

Later that moment, Matt decided to wait for the bus across the street from the public library. He sat down to rest. The day was breezy and it was not hot at all. Matt wanted to just take a break from all that’s happened today: the mile, the English test, the dispute with Jaime… Matt wanted it all to be set aside for the rest of the day, hopefully for the rest of his life. However, how was he to confront Jaime now? Maybe he did not want to anymore after what Jaime did on the English test. He could see a shadow appear on certain cars. Matt quickly became alert of it and he tried to look around to find Jaime. Unfortunately, he figured it was just a tree’s windy movement from nearby. Matt yawned and thought to himself, “Ah, I should just leave it alone for now. There’s no way he could be following me.”
Eventually, Matt got on the bus and he waited for seven minutes until his destination. Throughout the whole trip, he could see the false shadows that appeared all around the areas outside where the bus was driving through. He could even see some shadows appearing and disappearing in the bus due to the windy trees waving through outside. Matt got off the bus and he shook his head a few times to shake off the paranoid feeling.

As Jaime was in the men’s lockers for the sport Track and Field, he noticed a paper on the wall. “Oh? What is this?” He looked at the lost, “Top runners for today’s mile?” He took a look at the list and he gasped. “Oh what? Matt is third place with 5:02 as mile time?”
The boy next to him said, “You know what, I heard people could see him run so fast that they could see flames. I bet they were exaggerating or something because that’s just insane.”
Jaime said to him, “Are you serious? That idiot… Where did you hear this from?”
“Oh, buddy it’s everywhere! I have no idea who started it. But anyway, I gotta go. See ya.”
Jaime took a look at the list, “Matt came in third… he usually gets eight minutes and if he tried harder, he could get in the seven’s… Even if people could see fire coming out of him, then why haven’t the top two shown flames either? It’s probably not true. But then again, Matt did seem to blame me and hate me for such a stupid reason. Maybe he was trying to get out of that guilt by blaming others. He must have cheated the mile then.”

On the next day of school, Matt arrived at school and many people were watching him. Firstly, he got out of the car and he gave himself a long stretch to start out the day. As his ride was driving away, he noticed that many people were staring now. Matt tried to ignore this like he usually would. On the way to his first period class, the bell already began to ring. He told himself, “Gosh, I should start coming to school earlier rather than when the bell is ringing.”
As Matt was walking down the corridor towards math, Alex arrived and he was looking over at Matt. Matt noticed but he did not say anything. Alex spoke first, “Hey, I heard about you yesterday.”
“(About Jaime? What?!) What are you talking about?”
“Your mile. It was really fast. That was weird though because I could have sworn I beat you.” Alex said.
Matt, thinking that Alex was joking and bragging about his faster mile time, said, “You don’t have to rub it in my face, you know… I know you beat me already.”
Alex said with confusion, “No. Didn’t you beat me somehow? You got a freaking 5:02 on your mile yesterday. Did you take a walk after? I mean I clearly passed by you so maybe you were just walking another extra lap to rest.”
“5:02? Awesome! Wait, who told you that?”
Alex pointed passed a few buildings, “The guys’ lockers had this paper of top mile runners for the semester. People have been telling me they could see fire come out of you as you ran. That sounded a little weird, hah.”
Matt became frustrated. “What the heck? I got 8:12 on my mile though.”
“Well the paper clearly said you were third place at 5:02 on your mile.”
Matt shook his head, “No seriously, I got 8:12. You were there with 8:07. I was right behind you a bit.”
Alex shrugged. “Well, I dunno. Go check it yourself on Monday since we won’t have PE until second semester.”
Matt had a concerned expression on himself while wondering what seemed to be going on. “Hm… Oh I know now!”

Jaime was heading towards his class and Mariel stopped him on the way. “Hey, Jaime! I can’t believe you did such a thing, haha!”
Jaime turned around and questioned her, “What do you mean?”
“The English test! You cheated, didn’t you?”
“Me? No… (Did Matt tell her?) Dude, I won’t cheat on something like that. I probably would on a simple quiz or I might copy homework but I won’t be that desperate.”
“That’s okay. You can be honest with me. I mean that test was really hard so of course people would want to cheat on that test.”
Jaime scratched his head, “But I really didn’t cheat.”
Mariel began to walk away, “Mhm, sure!”
Jaime frowned. “Aw, you’re not going to believe me or what?”
Mariel giggled, “42 for you on a test seems impossible. Prove to me that you actually studied for it. Actually, I need to get to class. Tell me later about how you did it. I can’t seem to think of a way. Bye!”
Jaime thought about his situation. “What is going on? Wait, oh…! I know now!”

Matt and Jaime both snapped their fingers at separate areas in school as they said each other’s names to indicate that both of them are at fault of these rumors being spread around the school…

Website 3.2, November 20, 2010
Website Version 3.2, yes! Here's a short update compared to recent updates. This is the last Saturday before I submit my college applications. Everyone says the website server sucks on November the 30th, the Monday after next Saturday so I'm planning to submit it during Thanksgiving either before or after my dinner time because that's when everyone else is busy eating and I get to speed through the server. :) Anyway, I got nothing to do but work on homework, college applications, and personal statements for UC colleges. See you next week!

This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. At a glimpse, he can see something in the sky. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. Will Matt explain his powers to the whole world and ask for help to change him back into a normal person?"

Episode 43: Kindness with a Little Madness
Episode 43 – Kindness with a Little Madness
It was a few days before finals week was arriving for all students of El Monte. Matt was watching the news at home before he had left for school. He watched as the flames were piling up on a building nearby the hills and this had gotten him depressed. “Ah… fire powers are only used for destruction. Just look at that.”
He put on his shoes, warmed himself up with his fire powers so that the cold morning became an unimportant problem to him. He took a step out and noticed that it was misty and sprinkling. Matt’s stomach began to feel a bit weary. Matt coughed and he opened up his umbrella, “Oh gee, I have to go through this day with rain?”
His mother appeared by the doorway, “Matthew, don’t forget your umbrella- Oh! That’s good. You’re already using it. Be careful at school, okay?”
Matt said out loud without turning back, “Alright. See you later, mom!”
He hurriedly jumped into the car and he began to use his fire powers so that his hands would stay warm.

At school, many people were hiding under canopies everywhere, hoping to stay dry but eventually there would be not enough room to loiter around. Matt ran quickly into the hallway and he tried to close his umbrella but many people were nearby, thrashing against him. Matt rolled his eyes, saying ‘sorry’ but with a frustrated tone. Matt crashed into a few students, telling them, “My bad. Oh, I’m so sorry. Ouch, sorry!” Eventually, he reached the stairs and he was finally able to lock his umbrella but someone crashed into him once he finished. The umbrella fell to the ground and Matt became angry. “Ugh, I was just about finished too. You should watch where you’re- Oh!”
Matt turned around to see someone very familiar. The student said to him, “Hey Matt.”
Matt scratched his head as he suddenly began to chuckle, “Eheh… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to talk like that, Huy.”
The student, Huy, picked up the umbrella and kindly gave it to Matt, “Yeah, sorry about that. Sometimes you just get the urge to run down the stairs really quick so I didn’t have enough time to see you cross by. Well, I gotta get to class now. See you next time!”
Huy began to walk away before Matt could even say goodbye. Matt crossed his arms, “Hm, I wonder what he’s doing now lately… I haven’t seen him much since middle school.”

During lunch, ShirleyC was talking to Yessenia while getting food in the lunch line. Shirley giggled, “Hehe, are you going to badminton practice today, Yessenia?”
“Maybe. Why?”
“I don’t want to condition by myself. I’m trying to avoid someone right now, that’s why.”
Yessenia placed a few croutons on her plate, “Oh really?” Her hand slipped and some croutons fell, followed by her ID card which was under the plate. “Oh darn it, this is annoying.” She crouched down to get her ID and Shirley looked across from her up ahead.
Shirley pointed with extreme loudness, “HEY YOU! That’s the last of the watermelon! Give that to me!!”
The student she was talking to was Huy who was the same guy Matt crashed into that same morning. Huy turned around and said with a smirky expression, “Ha-ha. You snooze you lose!”
Shirley placed her hands on her hips, “Excuse me?! I want that watermelon! Give me it!”
Yessenia stood up, “Please, I don’t want to be in the middle of this. You, just give that watermelon to Shirley so she can stop complaining.”
Huy and Shirley said at the same time, “Who’s side are you on?!?!”
Yessenia twitched from the loudness as she rolled her eyes. She began to walk away, leaving the two with their little dispute. Shirley said with an attitude, “Is this some way to treat a lady?”
“Lady? You’re a freakin’ freshman!”
Shirley stomped her foot, “Argh, you too! I’ve seen you everywhere. Even if you are pretty tall, I could tell you were a freshman a mile away.”
“I don’t care. This watermelon is mine.” He began to sway his head after every ‘ha’ when he said, “Ha-ha-ha!~”
Shirley began to tackle him down, “I want watermelon!”
Yessenia was at the doorway before the sitting area, “Oh goody, I get to have a good show while eating. Shirley is a bit crazy over watermelon right now. She must be on her p-…”
Danny interrupted her from behind, “Hey, what’s going on?”
Yessenia pointed with a passive facial expression, “Over there. Look.”
Shirley and Huy were focused on each other now. Once Huy placed the cup of sliced watermelon onto the counter, he began to yell at her, “You’re over exaggerating just for some stupid watermelons!”
Shirley squealed, “Oooh they’re not just watermelons!!”
Others behind them became frustrated, so they decided to cut through by walking around them. Eventually, Matt arrived, watching them yell at each other. He went around Shirley and Huy since talking to them would not be the best timing. He looked at the cup of watermelon and he said to himself, “Ooh, I didn’t know they served this.” Matt took it and walked away.
Shirley finally took sight of the watermelon again and she saw Matt, “Hey you! Matt!! Damn you, get back here!”
Huy turned around to see Matt walking happily with the watermelon. Matt took sight of Shirley and he began to panic, “H-Huh? Me? What is it?”
Shirley tried to run to catch him but Huy blocked her, “N-No, you’re too feisty! You stay where you are!”
Matt caught up to Yessenia and he pointed at Shirley, “What’s up with her?”
Yessenia shrugged and said bluntly, “Eh, beats me. Let’s eat already. I am tired of just standing here.” The two of them along with Danny went ahead and sat down first.

As minutes passed by, Matt, Yessenia and Danny could see Shirley and Huy walking out of the doorway from the food area. Other than the visible bruises that Huy had on his arms and face, he looked almost as if nothing happened. Shirley, however, her hair was everywhere but she was not bruised. She was the one who seemed to take initiative.
Yessenia and Matt shared the cup of watermelon since Yessenia seemed more interested in it than Matt did. Shirley watched them both take the last bite of their own watermelon piece. “Hmph…”
Huy said quietly to himself but about Shirley, “Peh, it was all your fault.”
Shirley screamed again, “Tell that to my face, jerk!!”
Santi finally arrived at the lunch tables but he stopped and stared at all of them, “Whoa. I think I came at a bad time.” He decided to sit down on the opposite end of where Shirley and Huy were sitting. “What happened there?”
Matt gave him a quick little lie, “Eh, nothing much, really.” He took out his umbrella, “You’re pretty late. What were you doing for that long?”
“Ah, um… I just had to do something. Anyway, are we all leaving already?”
Matt placed his backpack behind him, “Yeah, we are.”
Santi stopped him, “Wait, I wanted to say something to you all first.”
Matt was about to stand up but he stopped. He sat back down, eager to hear the news, “What is it?”
Santi said to the group, “I might switch to second period lunch next semester.”
The whole group seemed surprised. Shirley screamed, “What did you say?!”
Yessenia closed her eyes and said sadly, “Aw, are you going to leave me with a bunch of idiots?”
Santi sighed, “I know. I am sorry, you guys. It is just that since I am taking Tech. Core. with Matt and Danny, we should all be moving to Computer Concepts next semester. The thing is that I already took Computer Concepts over the summer so I do not need to take it again. The only solution is if my counselor puts me into Men’s Choir for fourth period which leads me to second period lunch.”
Matt yelped, “Oh, right!!” He slammed his palms onto the table, “Then that means Danny and I are going to second period lunch too then. Computer Concepts is in the building where second period lunch is labeled as.”
Danny interrupted him, “Actually, I’m going to another class. Like Santi, I took Computer Concepts. I might go to drafting or something else. Who knows? I’m still most likely going to second period lunch with you two because the only classes available for fourth period are usually in the buildings where second period lunch is labeled.”
Huy did not know Santi and Danny, but he spoke up about Matt, “Are you really going to second period lunch? I have to sit alone with… these people.” He looked at Shirley, specifically.
Shirley gave him an attitude, “What?~”
Matt turned to Santi, “That’s right. Aren’t there way more people in second period lunch that we know of?”
Santi chuckled and said, “Haha, of course. You will have a faster pace at making friends.”
“I don’t need anymore friends. I’m doing well in school.”
Santi shook his head, “Doing well in school has nothing to do with your social life. You need to get out there more.”
“Nah, it’s okay. Anyways, I guess the three of us are heading to second period lunch in two weeks once second semester starts.” Matt suddenly thought about Jen. “(Jen… is in Computer Concepts right now. If Tech. Core. is moving to their class, then doesn’t that mean they have to move to our class? Jen might be going back to first period lunch and I’ll never be able to see her during lunch again for the rest of the year? Why?!)”
Danny poked Matt’s shoulder, “Matt? Why do you look worried?”
Matt snapped out of it as he said with a smile, “Wha- Oh, it’s nothing, haha…”

The bell rang and it was raining again. Everyone seemed to rush everywhere since there were puddles at various areas. Matt carefully opened his umbrella and he began walking down the single aisle towards the large gym and through the trailers where his fourth period Tech. Core. class is. Before he could have a chance to arrive at the large gym, there was a very huge puddle that would take up about halfway before a person’s knee, possibly catching up to the knee. Many students decided it was best to take a few sandbags from the construction area to soak up the area, or to at least make a bridge out of it. Matt arrived at the area and he began to panic. “Water… water all over the place.” He gulped as he took a step forward.
Many students told him to hurry up but Matt did not want to tell him that his fire powers would come into effect. He tried to hurry, but the water seemed to flow everywhere. People became frustrated, so they cut through him, some of them accidentally pushing Matt. Matt eventually fell forward on his knees and his legs and hands were covered in the dirt water, possibly along with traces of mud. Matt began to panic. “Oh no… m-my hands… they’re…” Matt’s stomach began to hurt.
He tried to look up ahead. Some students slowed down to watch him. Matt looked a little wear and he could feel his fire powers going haywire within him. All the sudden, he felt a hand grab onto his right arm. Matt quickly looked up to see Huy. Huy helped Matt stand up and he guided Matt through the large puddle, making sure he does not touch the water. Matt noticed that Huy’s legs up to his knee were filled with dirt water. At the other side, Matt sat down and he coughed. “S-Sorry, Huy. You should get to class.” Matt wanted Huy to leave as soon as possible before Matt’s fire powers became visible and obvious.
Huy shook his head, “But you don’t look so well. Do you want me to take you to the nurse’s office?”
Matt coughed again and he said hopefully, “No, it’s okay. I can get to class myself. I feel… fine.”
Huy was about to grab Matt’s right arm again, “Here, come on. Let me help you-…”
“No…! I said stop…! I can do it myself.” Matt slowly got up and he was about to leave. Matt stopped and turned around to tell Huy, “Remember when we were closer in middle school?”
Huy nodded, “Yeah, well not that much but we became a little distant since the beginning of high school.”
“Yeah, well… All these years, I wondered why you’re mean to others, yet when you’re around me…”
“What? That’s nonsense. I’m nice to everyone. That Shirley girl just came up to me in a bad way. She needs to learn some manners.”
“Shirley is Shirley. Her attitude is what makes her funny though.” Matt kindly smiled.
Huy laughed, “Haha, I see. Well, I’m usually nice to people if they’re nice to me. Hey, hurry and get to class if you say you could. I won’t force you to go to the nurse’s office. Besides, I need to get to class too.”
Matt agreed, “Alright, thanks for your help then.”
“You’re welcome. See you later, Matt!”
Matt turned around and he began to walk, “Even if we became distant after so long, I hope that he’ll stay friendly for the next three years if I see him more often. But boy, stupid rain. Heh.”
