Today, I am featuring Website Version 6.8! It corresponds to June 2008.
I stayed at a friend's house on Saturday to have fun with a bunch of friends overnight until Sunday so I was busy both days. The past week I haven't been so busy. This coming Saturday, I will be busy yet again so I might be updating on Sunday.

My name is Matthew Tran and this is a story titled 'Fires of the Sky'. This was made out of boredom so I don't expect good grammar until later.
This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. What will Matt have to do?"

Episode 98: The Diablo Takes Two, Mariel Is Missing!
The final world has finally opened up. The world of Edmund is gray and gloomy as ever. Memory losses have become an issue, but death is a more important factor to take note of. Each power wielder now has to face the truth as to why they are who they are. Are some born different? Many people would want to show their worth to the world while one may claim that saving the world is the most important ordeal to go through. Many students will show their impact and reason through existence, past, and of course, Rena’s storytelling. Of course, she has lots to tell but there is little time left. What will the group decide to do next in the world of Edmund…?
Episode 98 - The Diablo Takes Two, Mariel Is Missing!
In the swimming pool across the street from El Monte High School, Matt and Santi sat down on the stairs, waiting for instructions from their teacher. While waiting, they were focusing on Shirley and Alex yelling at each other as quiet as they could.
“Come on Alex, let’s go to the bigger pool!”
“I don’t want to!” Alex rejected.
“You have to get better at swimming some time soon. What if we all want to swim for fun in the future and you’re the only one who can’t do it?”
“I’m okay with that.”
“You suck, come on!”
Matt suddenly interrupted them. He stood up, scratching his hair, “Agh!! Stop with the arguing already! We’re trying to wait peacefully for our teacher to come here but you two are so loud!”
A random voice from behind the crowd said, “Ay, shut up!”
Matt sat back down, “Peh. Whatever.”
Santi coughed, “Ahem, aside from the argument, Danny’s coming closer.”
“Why? He’s supposed to be with the other PE class.” Shirley watched Danny making his way to them.
Danny eventually arrived and said in a panic, “You guys, this is serious. It’s about Mariel.”
“Again?” Matt said in surprise. “What is it now?”
Alex listened closely but he did not say anything. Shirley noticed that Alex was watching Danny, waiting for an answer. “Hey Danny, why don’t you tell us later?”
Danny whispered into Shirley’s ear, “Mariel’s gone missing! I thought she was under the bed sheets the whole time but I noticed the next day that the blanket wasn’t moving. I thought she stopped breathing so I checked but it was just the blanket all scrunched up into the shape of a sleeping person!”
“All this time, you’ve been looking after someone who was not there?!” Shirley screamed. She turned around, “Ah, eh… hehe. Okay, we’ll go check ‘that’ place that she wants to go to so much.” She whispered to Danny, “You can talk to Alex while we’re there.”
Danny frowned, “Aw why do you get to go?”
Shirley whispered, “I didn’t mean it like that. After you two split, then you can come to us, okay?”
Danny agreed but with a slight hesitation, “Hrm, I guess that’s okay.”
Shirley smiled, “Good boy!” She suddenly grabbed onto Matt’s and Santi’s sleeves and then she ran off with them. Santi barely kept his balance getting off the steps but Matt just fell on his face while sliding down each step on the stairs.

In Edmund, Matt and Shirley appeared around the school area. Santi appeared behind them and he opened his phone to text Winny and Yessenia about the plan that was previously made. Matt had his right hand on his chin, thinking out loud. “Hm, now where would we be if we were Mariel?”
Shirley began shaking. “This is serious. Mariel could be doing something dangerous and we won’t know what she would be up to.”
Santi closed his phone, “Okay. I told Yessenia and Winny to search around this school and ask around while we will take a few detours around the city of El Monte. I am afraid that right now starts the journey through Edmund where we will have to be faster-paced. Are you two ready?”
“Of course I am!” Matt said enthusiastically.
“Me too!” Shirley added.
“Alright. That is great to hear. Let’s go!” Santi took the lead in the group.

Winny and Yessenia appear in Edmund at the entrance of school. Yessenia knelt down and felt the water pouring onto the ground, “This is strange… Rain is still pouring.”
“What do you mean?” Winny asked.
“Edmund is a world filled with rain. 600 years in the past, we suffer from heat, especially when summer is coming. This is something that I want to figure out. Why is it so cold everyday? Did we fix Global Warming a bit too much?”
From afar, Yessenia and Winny could see Willy and Stinna running closer. “Look, it’s them again, Willy and um, Stinna. They met Matt and Santi already before.” Winny explained before the two people arrived.
Willy was on his knees, breathing heavily. Stinna knelt against the gate, “I’ve seen you before.” Stinna said to Winny.
“I’m Winny, and she is Yessenia.” Winny introduced herself along with Yessenia.
“Hello there.” Stinna tried to smile. “Well, there is something dangerous up ahead in the school. Please, avoid this school this instant!”
Winny stared closely at Willy, “You there… You’re…”
Willy gasped and then he hid behind Stinna. Yessenia was concerned about El Monte. “What happened in there?”
“They took the divine lady, Rena away. I thought she was calcified long ago!” Stinna exclaimed. “Now with the chosen being taken away, the Diablo will be even stronger!”
“Who’s ‘they’?” Yessenia wondered.
A dark aura appeared beside Stinna. Winny opened her eyes wide and Yessenia noticed Winny’s fear. The Diablo appeared with his demonic voice again, “Who dares discuss this? Rena is for me and me only!”
Yessenia took a step back, “W-What in the world?!”
The Diablo opened his palms in front of Stinna. Willy grabbed onto Yessenia’s legs, “No! Sister!”
Stinna screamed in pain. The Diablo swung his cape around Stinna. “I shall punish you. Come to my lair!” Stinna disappeared within the Diablo’s cape as the both of them vanished together.
Willy began crying, “Sister! Sister!!”
Yessenia turned to Winny, “What was that all about?” Winny only nodded to stall time. Yessenia grabbed Winny’s shoulders and then she shook them, “I saw that expression of yours. TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!”
Winny began having tears down her eyes. Those tears were easily distinguishable apart from the raindrops. “I…” She turned around and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Winny really wanted to tell Yessenia this time, but she knew that the Diablo is always watching her and listening to everything she says.
Yessenia closed her eyes, “Is that it? You are just really pathetic. I will find more information myself.” She walked off without Winny. Willy looked up at the both of them and he did not know what to do. So, Willy grabbed onto Winny’s right leg and he kept hugging her.

“Where is Mariel?” Alex asked bluntly.
“She’s nowhere!” Danny failingly lied.
Alex scratched his head, “Huh? How is that possible? You don’t get it. I care about her the most out of anybody yet she wouldn’t let me show my care. Right now, she could be in danger because she’s not even in school!”
“She’s resting! She probably got sick.” Danny said.
“’Probably’? Even you don’t know how she’s doing.”
Danny frowned, “You don’t even know how I feel either. Mariel… is my closest friend too, possibly even closer than you are.”
“How could you say that?”
“Mariel… has a secret that I know of which you don’t know.”
Alex gasped, “What? Tell me what it is!”
“Not yet. Now’s not the time to…”
Alex grabbed Danny by the collar, “Y-You better tell me!”
Danny took a step away, “F-Fine! But promise me that you won’t go crazy.” Alex nodded and then Danny took out his cellphone to show Alex the ‘Edmund’ button. “Here. Press that.” Alex raised his eyebrows in confusion, but he pressed the button anyway.

In Edmund’s El Monte entrance, Alex took a look around. “What the? How did we get here so fast?”
“This is Edmund.”
“This is El Monte.” Alex corrected.
‘There is so much to tell you. Where should I start?” Danny wondered.

In the Diablo’s lair, the Diablo had Rena and Stinna held captive. Also, Stan was present with Jen. Stan saluted, “Sir, Jen has been given the power of Holy.”
“Ah, so you finally completed the injection.” Said the Diablo. “My apprentice, Stan- No, my partner now, you are allowed to call me by my real name: Luther.”
“Luther, I see.” Stan smiled. “What will be my next mission?”
“Well, you never fail to disappoint me. What is it that you wish?”
Stan laughed, “Hah! More power. I want to show those kids who’s boss.”
“My third underling, Winny is on the job. The rest of them are working like little ants. Once they arrive at this tower, I can annihilate all of them in one hit and they will bow down to me. All of their strengths will become ours.” The Diablo began laughing loudly.
Rena was in a cage, feeling very surprised. “No…”
“This can’t be.” Stinna said. “What about my little brother?!”
“Your little brother?” The Diablo asked. “Why, you claimed his name to be ‘Willy’ in front of Winny and her friends. That was a load of bull.” Stinna closed her eyes in shame. The Diablo continued, “Now tell me, is his name not Santiago or what?”
“Santiago…” Stinna said. “That’s true. My little brother looks a lot like Winny’s friend, Santiago, only younger. They must have come from another world.”
Luther took a few vials in his hands, “Look at all of these powers, hehe.” He turned to Stinna, “Those dumb kids don’t even realize where they are. They believe this is the future.”
Rena frowned, “I told them that it is the future… but the future only applied to the Forest of Emille. Edmund is its own world.”
“Exactly, my little Rena! You too, have the power to meddle between worlds, is it not? The both of us can! The truth about Edmund, the most important thing to know is that… Edmund is only a parallel universe of those kids’ world!”
Stan was amazed. “Whoa! Is that true?”
Jen said without any expression, “Parallel… universe?”
“We live in a source of cold air! We need the cold. Just like their world needing the sun, we do need our own sources. Poor Mariel, trying her damn best just to try and change the planet into what she wants. Haha!”
Rena shook the cage, “Tell Mariel now! She’s only wasting her time and energy on something that cannot be changed!”
“Why should I? It only makes her to eagerly become a lot stronger. Thus, I can take her powers away right at that moment. Let’s just sit around and wait until they are at their ultimate levels. As for now, if I set up a tower in the center of Edmund’s El Monte, I can grab all of their attentions. Along the way on the bottom of the tower will be a bunch of giant digicells for them to fight. Let’s see if they can even pass this first test. It is the trial of survival!”
Stan took out his sword, “And I shall wait on the top floor. Is that fine with you?”
“You can be their last test. Good thinking! I can see that Mariel is standing right above where we are hiding. I shall release the tower!” said Luther.
Stan grabbed Jen’s arm, “Come on Jen, your power of Holy will be useful to us too.”
“Yes… sir.” Jen said blankly.
Stinna slid to the ground as if she had no more hope, “Rena… what are we going to do now…? My little brother…”
Rena clenched her fists, “We have to think of something. In the meantime, let us hope that Matt and his friends will be able to survive!”

Outside of Edmund’s El Monte, Matt, Santi, Shirley, along with Yessenia, Winny, Danny, and Alex at separate areas, all saw the tower of El Monte expanding in width and then in enormous length. Even at different ends of the city, all the students fell to the ground because of the shaking.
Winny looked up at the tower while it was growing, “This is… the Tower of Despair.”
Willy followed Winny, “Hey lady where did that tall building come from?” He said in fear. He was a bit scared after experiencing a mock-earthquake.
Winny tried to explain without exploiting anything important, “It is the hidden tower which has finally been revealed.” Winny thought in her mind, “(Your sister is in there too. The tower right before our eyes is where the Diablo does all of his work.)”
From afar, Danny pointed, “Look at that, Alex! Mariel might be over there. We’ll both find her and then we can ask her a few questions, okay?” At this point, Danny was almost finished telling the whole story of what happened in the beginning of his journey with Matt and his friends. Alex did not want to believe Danny, but seeing this tower appear from underground made Alex reconsider it.
Yessenia took out her blunt sword, “I should check this place out! It could be really dangerous.” She said to herself.
Then came the last three students. Matt, Santi and Shirley all looked up at the tower. “So… I’m assuming we’re going there since we don’t know what to do next anyway?” Matt questioned.
Shirley slapped Matt, “No duh!”
Santi took out his scimitar, “Well, prepare yourselves anyway. It could get really dangerous in there. I just know it. Or… I remember it was.”
“You remember? What do you mean by you remembering?” Matt became confused.
Santi looked away, “We’ll talk about it while we get there. I feel that there is so much to tell you two which pretty much sums up everything about why we are doing the things we do today. So here goes…”

Yessenia: The origins will be a two-part episode where even Jon and I will be involved.

Website 6.7, July 23, 2011
Today, I am featuring Website Version 6.7! It corresponds to June 2008.
I passed my driving test, had a family dinner, and now I am having a blast throughout my summer! Oh yeah - I just got done with writing episode 117. :) I made a few recent artworks as well on the character list. P.S. I just had a great Banh Mi Che Cali sandwich thing with a milk tea boba drink. Yum. :3

Episode 97: Winny's Past in Edmund, Mariel Sees It All

Episode 97 - Winny's Past in Edmund, Mariel Sees It All
It was sunny in El Monte as the month of early June carried on. Mariel tried to call Matt, but he did not pick up his phone as his phone was on silent. Usually now, Matt would be having fun with some of his friends somewhere as an after school enjoyment, but she still could not find him. She tried calling other people about his whereabouts but Matt was nowhere to be found. At the point of calling Winny, Winny decided to ask a question in return.
“Why do you need Matt?” Winny asked.
“I… I just need to look for him for a research project.”
“We have none as freshmen. The only big assignment we have is a power point, at least for English class.”
“It’s for piano.”
“Excuse me?”
“Ugh, who am I kidding? Winny, I have decided that I will help save Edmund from despair. In order to do that, we need a massive amount of heat and that’s what Matt is for!” Mariel exclaimed. She was certain that the idea would help reverse the cold air. “El Monte’s future must not be extremely cold!”
“The Freezing Impact belongs to El Monte’s future. We cannot change what has already been there.” Winny said bluntly over the phone.
Mariel got angry, “What do you know about Edmund? It is slowly dying. Can’t you tell? Everybody seems to be in deep sadness.”
“The question is, what do you know? Did you even research the history of El Monte in Edmund?”
“I don’t need any more lectures, please. I’m going to find Matt first if that’s the last thing I’ll do. Together, we’ll both save the future’s planet!”
“The future… Hmph.” Winny said. “I…” Mariel hung up immediately which caused Winny to make a slight gasp. “Hm.”

In Edmund, Mariel appeared near the high school of El Monte. “Rain… it’s still here.” She held out her hand and she took a look at the sky, “It never stops.” Winny appeared next to her from teleportation. Mariel jumped in surprise, “W-Winny!”
Winny spoke to her, “Mariel, you don’t realize that you’re making a huge mistake!”
“A mistake? Please!” Mariel rolled her eyes. “A mistake is for us to not do anything. Don’t you get it? All of these worlds that we’ve been through began as a troubled society, damn it. All I’ve been doing was pretending to be strong. Now is our chance to show how strong we really are. Saving a planet… can you imagine that?”
“Forget the future!” Winny yelled.
“W-What…?” Mariel froze. “How could you say such a thing?” She clenched her fists.
Winny crossed her arms, “You heard me. The future is not of our concerns.”
“That’s selfish of you!!” Mariel became uncontrollably angry. She tried to punch Winny on the face but Winny grabbed Mariel’s fist really fast.
Winny pushed Mariel’s fist strong enough to hold Mariel back as she took a step away. Winny pushed again and she pinned Mariel to the gates of the entrance of El Monte, “You don’t understand what the hell is going on in this world of Edmund! What you see here, is NOT El Monte!!” Winny suddenly froze and her eyes opened wide. Her ghostly giddy side poured out of her body like an aura.
Mariel could see the both of them, but Winny’s giddy side was more transparent. “Not El Monte?”
Winny’s giddy side told the serious personality, “Winny… Don’t hurt her. She is unaware of Edmund and I think it is best to tell her now.”
Winny’s serious side became worried, “B-But…”
“How are there two of you…?” Mariel wondered.
Winny’s happiness spoke, “I am the good side of Winny. This is the real me, not the one you see right in front of you. When things go out of hand, I appear to stop her.”
“Why don’t you just be happy all the time then? Why present the serious side of you?” Mariel questioned.
Winny’s anger replied to Mariel, “That is because these powers of mine trapped me into somebody I’m not.”
“I thought all powers were supposed to be gifted? Why is yours like this?” Mariel wondered.
Winny’s anger shook her head, “Not always… Matt’s, for example. His passion for being a good person is causing him to avoid doing terrible deeds. As for me, I gave in.”
“No you didn’t, Winny. You didn’t give in!” Winny’s happy side yelled.
Mariel nodded, “That’s right. You’re with us even up to today. You’ve avoided being a bad person.”
Winny let go of Mariel and then Winny closed her eyes. “Did I…? Or am I just… somebody who gives in to everything?”
“Huh?” Mariel was confused.
Winny was shaking and a dark aura was appearing around her. Winny’s happy side said in fear, “W-Winny, get a hold of yourself! Please!”
Winny’s anger turned around and she walked forward a little, “The day I stepped foot in Edmund was in July 26, 2007. It was the first world that I’ve ever been into. My sister, Bendy, brought me in to show me all of her adventures that she had in high school aside from academics. The Diablo, who was once a good man, became angry that Bendy exploited her powers to normal people like me. Then, the Diablo became very angry with us. He said in order for us to both survive, Bendy must be the servant of the Diablo wherever she goes, even in our own world while I had to be given the power of a split personality. I didn’t want to, but I wanted my sister to stay alive, so I took the offer. At this point, it was just me who had powers within the class of 2011. Then came Santi…”
Mariel fell to her knees. Her hair was draped in rain and her face had stands of hair running down her cheeks. “Then you… you’re the one who started exploiting powers to the rest of us?”
“Indirectly and directly, yes.” Winny’s angry side said. “This is what the Diablo wanted. He wants me and my friends to be put on trial to see if we were able to withstand danger. He wanted us to become stronger so that when the time was best, he would have all of us side with him to take over Edmund and every other world known to man.”
Mariel gasped. “What?! How could you let such things happen?! Why didn’t you tell us sooner? Because of you not saying anything, we continued to get stronger through Echoville and Emille. And look at where we are now. I’m stopping this damn Diablo if it’s the last thing I need to do!”
Winny’s giddy side jumped, “Oh my! Don’t say that out loud. The Diablo could hear you.”
Mariel stomped, “I don’t give a rat’s ass about what the Diablo can do! I’m going to show him who’s boss!”
A larger dark aura appeared behind Winny’s serious personality. Mariel tried to take a step back but she was already against the gate. The Diablo eventually appeared with a large sword with horns and wings with gleaming red eyes. He was about 6’5 in height. His voice echoed in a demonic tone. “Who dares defy my orders?” The group of three was silent. “Winny?”
The friendly Winny squealed and vanished into the serious side of Winny. Mariel gulped and said slowly, “The… Diablo?”
Winny’s eyes were wide open in fear. Mariel could easily claim that this was the most terrifying moment for Winny. “Y-Yes?” Winny said in fear.
“Why are you showing fear? I thought you were the strong Winny who I once knew? Why are you telling the origins of these powers?” The Diablo said to her. He raised his sword above her, “I already have a bunch of your underlings. I already saw some of your friends trying to roam around in Edmund. They can be my new watch dogs.”
Mariel splashed water on the Diablo but it did not affect him. The water only slid down his body. Mariel pointed at the Diablo, “You leave her alone!”
The Diablo turned to Mariel, “One of Winny’s underlings…”
“I’m nobody’s underling!”
The Diablo laughed and then he opened his fists. Just a simple task caused Mariel to scream in pain and fall down to the floor. Winny turned around in fear, “M-Mariel!”
The Diablo laughed again. “So Winny, this actually looks kind of fun. Now, I have two hostages who you have to depend on. Bendy, and now Mariel. By the way, where is Bendy?”
Winny took a step back, “She’s finishing her Senior Quest project in El Monte…”
“Bring her to me. As for Mariel, she will only get into greater despair if you go against me one more time. Do whatever you want with her. We don’t want your friends to find out that she’s gone missing. Now, go!” The Diablo yelled.
Winny nodded quickly, “Y-Yes, your majesty.” She decided to take Mariel into Arkon’s Magic to rest her in Winny’s Arkonic home.

In Arkon’s Magic after a few hours, Matt, Santi, Yessenia, Shirley and Danny all visited Mariel. Winny told them about Mariel’s pain but lied about how she got into a concussion in order to protect herself from being in danger.
“So she hurt herself for running all over Edmund, looking for information? Isn’t that a bit too much?” Santi wondered.
Mariel began to moan in her sleep, “Edmund… Mm, the world…! The future…”
“She has been having a nightmare I suppose.” Said Yessenia. “We should give her some more time.”
Danny frowned, “Mariel… She told me before that she wanted to save Edmund so badly from despair. Maybe that’s what she was trying to do. Shouldn’t we do that?”
Winny remembered that she should let them attempt to enter Edmund so that they could get stronger. This was her original procedure anyway. “Yeah, we should go to Edmund and see what’s wrong with it. It has been raining for quite awhile.”
Matt nodded, “Good idea. So, starting here on, we won’t be just visiting Edmund for only minutes, but this time for awhile until we find clues. We will have to move on faster from now on until Edmund is finished.”
Shirley agreed. “Yeah, you’re right. This will be for Mariel. I kinda understand how she’s feeling at this point.”
“She’s trying her best and we must respect that.” Matt added. “Now, we have to plan this first. Whenever we are ready, we should all split up in smaller groups so that we can find information faster.”
Santi stayed silent. Yessenia helped Matt, “We will split up in Edmund once Mariel is back to normal. But yeah, we should plan who will go where.”
Shirley stood next to Matt, “We should go look around in Edmund’s El Monte!”
Santi shook his head, “And I will tag along with you two because you both won’t be able to survive in such a place.”
Shirley crossed her arms, “H-Hey!”
Matt thought about it for a moment and then he said, “That’s okay. The fire powers that I have will get all weird so it would help if we have three people instead of two.”
“Hmph, fine!” Shirley said with a grumpy attitude.
Yessenia stood beside Winny, “We are both great at communication. We will ask around in Edmund to see what is going on in that world.”
Winny agreed to go with her, “I guess that’s fine with me.”
Danny stood next to Mariel, “And that leaves me. I will sit here and make sure Mariel’s okay.” Matt, Santi, Shirley, Yessenia and Winny decided that Danny should stay with Mariel. So, the group of five made their way to the exit from Winny’s Arkonic home.

Outside, Shirley said sadly, “I sure hope Mariel is okay…”
“Don’t worry. We always come out fine, and so will Mariel. I understand how she’s feeling too. She wants to help, doesn’t she?” Matt asked.
“Yes. But what else can we do at the moment?” Yessenia questioned. “There is nothing left for now because if we go in Edmund and make progress without Mariel, it will only hurt her even more that she could not do anything.”
“I say we wait then.” Matt suggested. “It’s not really that much of a deal to lag it a little.” Matt took out his cellphone, “We should all go back to our own homes and rest.”
Shirley smiled, “You’re right. See you guys tomorrow!” She teleported away, followed by Matt and then Yessenia.
Santi turned to Winny, “Do you realize what you are doing?”
“You’re still worrying? I don’t care if you’re against it. I will try to find a best solution for this.” Winny said. “I don’t know what to do.”
Santi sighed, “I do not want to stick with your ideas anymore. I’ve grown a close bond with these friends of mine and I want to spend my last moments with them before I am gone. It is not too long for me anymore.”
“Then go, have fun with them. I will deal with this. But, without you, I will not be able to complete my tasks. Just you remember that, Santiago Vallejo.”
Santi shook his head, “Do whatever you want. Just keep me out of it.” Santi took out his cellphone, “I am going hmoe now. See you next time.” Then, he teleported away.
“Foolish values.” Winny said alone.

While Danny was in the kitchen, Mariel opened her eyes in Winny’s bedroom. She sat up and saw a few Band-Aids on herself. She removed the blanket as she stood up from the bed. She took out her cellphone and then stared at the Edmund button. “Heh.”

Episode 96: Stolen Signs and Winny's Words of 2608
The final world has finally opened up. The world of Edmund is gray and gloomy as ever. Memory losses have become an issue, but death is a more important factor to take note of. Each power wielder now has to face the truth as to why they are who they are. Are some born different? Many people would want to show their worth to the world while one may claim that saving the world is the most important ordeal to go through. Many students will show their impact and reason through existence, past, and of course, Rena’s storytelling. Of course, she has lots to tell but there is little time left. What will the group decide to do next in the world of Edmund…?
Episode 96 - Stolen Signs and Winny's Words of 2608
It was days later after the basketball game. May was coming closer to an end. In order for the students to enjoy their last few weeks of the school year, Matt and a few friends decided to take a long walk down an area nearby called ‘San Gabriel’. Shirley, Yessenia, Jaime, Alex and Venus were on their way for a restaurant.
“How much longer do we have to walk?” Alex complained.
The complaining slightly bothered Matt but it was no big deal. They walked for almost a mile already anyway. Matt did not mind the long walk especially since he was not able to do this in his past. He had never left California, after all. Jaime yawned, “Where are we eating again?”
“Always thinking about the food, huh Jaime.” Shirley teased, “It is Noodle World. Actually, there’s usually a lot of people there right?”
“Sometimes when I go there with my family, there would be a lot of people so we would have to wait almost a half hour just to get our tables. Then we have to wait even longer for our food.” Yessenia mentioned.
Venus was busy fixing her hair. “Eh, how about somewhere else.”
“Got any suggestions?” Yessenia responded.
“What suggestions?” Venus did not take her eyes off of the mirror-like windows of a building.
The group shook their heads in shame. “Well, we don’t know where to eat. I’m tired of walking!” Alex exclaimed.
“Calm down, stupid! After all of the walking, it will pay off.” Shirley yelled at him.
The six of the students had arrived at a gas station. Alex pointed at the gas prices, “Look how much it is right now. 4.50 dollars for gas?!”
“Having a car is still worth it. We’ve been walking for an hour.” Jaime said.
“Imagine if the gas price was…” Venus began walking over to the signs and she took out the “4” from the panel, “50 cents?!”
“Wait what are you doing?!” Shirley was surprised.
Venus shook her head, “Oh shoot, I wasn’t thinking.” She ran off and the group followed her.
“You stole a gas sign, of all things?” Yessenia said with annoyance. “You should put that back.”
Venus threw the sign in the bushes nearby, “D-Don’t worry. We’ll be fine.”

After about another 20 minutes of walking, the group of six had finally arrived at a restaurant. “How about this weird place. ABC Café?” Jaime suggested.
“Sure. Have you ever tried it though?” Shirley took a look at the chicken and beef. “It does look a bit yummy.”
The group walked in and Venus was still behind. Alex headed for the restrooms to freshen up from all of the walking. Matt turned around, “Hey Venus, are you okay?”
Venus took a step back, “I’m not feeling very well.”
“You’re guilty, aren’t you?” Yessenia teased.
“Yes! I am. I should go back and return it.”
“We’re pretty far already though.” Shirley stomped her foot in exhaust, “I’m not going back there.”
“Then I’ll go back there on my own.” Venus decided. “I’ll be back. Go inside and eat first.”
“Um, alright then. We could wait if you want.” Matt said but Venus suddenly ran off to return the gas sign back at the gas station.

Meanwhile, in Edmund, Mariel appeared in front of the school within the shack. “Phew! I’m back, safe and sound.” She took a look into the sky, “It’s still sprinkling. This world is crazy.” She entered the school to find more information on how to fix the cold world. “Every last bit of these buildings still look just like El Monte in 2008. What is the big idea?” She cold see somebody familiar from afar. There was a girl standing around the trailer area while Mariel was on the narrow road which attached one side of the school to the other. Mariel tried to look closely, “Is that Winny?”
Mariel ran towards Winny as quickly as possible. Winny turned around. “Huh?”
“Winny! What are you doing here by yourself?” The sight of Winny alone concerned her.
“Oh… this place interests me.”
“How come?”
“This is the place where my sister first introduced me to this school. She showed me all of her cool friends, all of posters that we would have to do when we become more involved, and told me which clubs I should join. But, if you look at this place…”
Mariel slowly walked ahead and she noticed that some buildings were broken into complete pieces, “What is this?” She became surprised.
The whole trailer area of the school was broken into bits! “Does this surprise you?” Winny said quietly.
“But why? Why does this area look like it has been destroyed?”
“You don’t have a single clue about where we are. That does not matter. The real issue is about Rena. I can see it in her heart that she is a good person. However, I knew you and Danny took her here. That was dangerous because the Diablo knew her every moves. The fact that he now knows that you and Danny are acquainted with her, the Diablo and Stan will go after you. What you did, bringing her in Edmund like that, was a huge mistake.”
Mariel was shaking. She took a step back in fear, “Mistake? I just want to save this world.”
“From what? From ultimate despair? Edmund’s made up of cold and freezing atmosphere. This world is completely different from our world.”
“I don’t understand!” Mariel yelled. “This is just the future yet all the buildings are the same buildings from 600 years ago. How is it completely different from our world? Can you tell me that?” Mariel clenched her fists.
“There are so many things that you do not understand, Mariel.” Winny crossed her arms. “Let us take a seat. I have a lot to explain to you.”

The group of four excluding Alex and Venus ordered their food. As the waitor walked away, Matt asked Shirley, “Are you sure it was okay to order food for Alex? Shouldn’t he make his own decisions?”
“No. What for?” Shirley asked innocently. The students watched her in confusion. “Anyways! So about Edmund… When should we venture in there again?”
“You make it sound like visiting is a fieldtrip. Do you know how dangerous the world can be?” Yessenia warned.
Jaime placed his hands behind his head and then he leaned over the table, “I’m out of this situation. Echoville’s problems with the Halflings were annoying enough. It was bad enough to fight against Sirius, the producer of clouds.”
Alex returned from the restroom and Shirley threw a small jar of salt at Jaime’s face, “Okay sh he’s coming!”
Jaime covered his face. “Arwh whrr ded yu dooo thawt!?!”
Shirley pointed at Alex, “We can’t talk about this when he’s around!”
Alex arrived and then he sat down. He looked at everybody in silence, “This is awkward. Why is everyone so quiet?”
“I don’t know. Hey I got you some steak.” Shirley said quickly.
“Isn’t that the most expensive?” Alex gasped.
“You can afford it.” Shirley said bluntly. “You always bring like a hundred dollars with you wherever we go.”
Matt had to stay in silence. He wanted to talk about Edmund as well but of course, the group could not talk about it when Alex is sitting with them.

In Edmund, Mariel said with a serious tone, “So Edmund is made up of cold atmosphere? Why, when the core is super duper hot?”
“Do you think the core is hot?”
“I know, not think. It has been proven!”
“Not here.”
“Don’t lie to me, Winny! Tell me the truth!” Mariel screamed at her.
“I can’t do that. There is too much for you to learn and you will see it as time passes.” Winny stood up.
“See what?” Mariel wondered. Winny only walked away. Mariel stood up as well. Her heart was racing as she was angry. “This world is completely messed up and now even I can’t help it? The world is made up of cold atmosphere – how the hell can I help now when I have water powers? If only I could heat up my powers, I could help the world!” She knelt down, punching the floor and crying, “I’m useless yet again. I… I…!” She opened her eyes wide after her brain sparked. “That’s it! Water powers, heat, I know exactly what I should do. But how can I make this work?”

As the group was eating, Matt, Shirley, Yessenia and Jaime were noticing that Alex was eating slower than Jaime. Usually, Jaime would be the last to finish even if he was the type of person who looked as if he would eat the most and quickest. Alex spun his fork slowly around his pasta in silence.
Shirley became frustrated. She clenched her teeth in impatience as she grabbed onto Alex’s hand and she forcefully tried to raise it up to Alex’s mouth, “Eat it you damn dinosaur!” Of course, being called a ‘t-rex’ was Alex’s nickname because of the way he would move his hands around similarly.
Alex only moaned and yelped, “Auugh!!”
“S-Shirley, uh…” Matt tried to calm them down.
“What is wrong with you? Why aren’t you eating faster? We’re almost done.” Shirley said angrily.
“Your plate is full.” Yessenia pointed at Shirley’s plate.
Shirley slid it over to Matt’s side, “No it’s not. My plate doesn’t matter anyway.” Matt glared at her but Shirley shook his anger off her shoulders. “Alex, why are you acting so different all the sudden?”
“It’s about Mariel.”
“Again with Mariel.” Shirley said. “Why are you always talking about her?”
“You asked me to talk about what I was thinking…”
“Come on, you’ve got to stop thinking about her. She’s doing fine.”
“Without me?”
“I-I didn’t mean it like that…”
Matt whispered to Yessenia, “Actually, we’ve been around Mariel more often than Alex lately. Still, we couldn’t find out about how she thinks of Alex. Should we ask her?”
Yessenia shrugged. “She might get angry.”
Jaime was finishing his plate now. Alex explained to the group, “She hasn’t shown up often when I need her and she’s happier around you guys. That’s why lately I’ve been trying to hang out with you all. To make her happy… was my intention.”
“Why do you care about her so much? You’re not getting married to her or anything.” Shirley complained. “You shouldn’t depend on others in order to make you happy either.”
“But still! I want to be her friend even if it does mean that I can’t make her happy anymore. I just want to be around friends who I was with before…” Alex made a point. It wouldn’t matter if friends weren’t happy or angry. As long as two friends could be together, as friends of course, then the memories will be kept forever. “Thinking back to friendship would make me happy, wouldn’t it?” This made Matt extremely guilty. Matt thought about how he unintentionally abandoned Stan and Kalpesh. Although Kalpesh didn’t care, Stan was the complete opposite.
“We’re the same, Alex.” Matt spoke up.
“Huh?” Alex said quietly as the rest of their friends turned over to Matt.
“I used to hang out with Stan and Kalpesh all the time. The truth is, I kind of do miss them but I kind of don’t. All my life, I’ve hung out with friends who loved to talk about games, play games all day, go to movies only when it comes to going out, and other stuff that gamers would do outside of school. They are smart in school too which is why I liked hanging out with them. I wanted adventure more than playing games though, you know?”
“Why did you stay friends with them then?” Yessenia questioned.
Matt responded, “Well, to me, for the past eight years of school with them and others from the same school, I had to choose between gamers who were smart, or adventurous people who were completely dumb brainless people. I chose to hang out with smart people because they would make me smart and prepared for high school. To me, there was no such thing as ‘adventurous people who are super smart’ but until high school came, I found people like you.”
“We’re not smart!” Shirley screamed. The crowd around her watched.
“Smarter than them at least. In high school, there are people far smarter than my Columbian friends. It is a win-win situation with me if I hang out with you guys. Losing you all would hurt me, as much as it already hurt Alex with Mariel.” Matt said to Alex, “What I’m thinking is that Mariel will open up to you someday. Someday soon.”
“You think so?” Alex was worried.
“Yeah.” Matt nodded. He asked the whole group, “Why don’t we have Alex hang around us more often and see what happens when Mariel is around? It won’t hurt to try.”
Shirley agreed, “Of course! Alex always has the money.”
Yessenia followed along with the agreement, “It will not bother me.”
“Sure, whatever.” Jaime said without care.
“Thanks guys!” said Alex. “I won’t be a bother, I hope. So don’t worry!-…”
“Guys, I’m back!!” Venus interrupted while barging into the door.
Matt covered his face, “How embarrassing…”
Shirley took back her plate and she began stuffing down food from her plate. She said after, “Remember, we don’t know her!”

Today, I am featuring Website Version 6.6! It corresponds to May 2008.
A whole week of bleh. Nothing. Actually I've been playing on my PS3 a lot. :P I still had so much time for this website so I did a lot of edits last night and this morning! Get ready for a huge update.
"The top has tabs for you to go through. The episode list, character list, etc.
My name is Matthew Tran and this is a story titled 'Fires of the Sky'. This was made out of boredom so I don't expect good grammar until later.
This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. What will Matt have to do?"
-I added episode 95. The 'Fires of the Sky' tab on top has episode 95 if you cannot find it.
-Episodes 49 to 57 are updated with clearer indents.
-Episode 75 to 94 all have a "Go to next episode" link at the end of each episode.

Episode 95 - The Darkest Night in the Burden World
“Why are we even hanging out here? It’s so boring!” Matt yelped.
“Do you want to go on an adventure? That is too bad.” Yessenia joked. “You are only bored because all of the badminton racquets are taken right now. We should just wait awhile until people decide to leave.”
“Wait? We only have a few minutes before our hour is up. Some school basketball game against Rosemead High School is going to start after.” Matt complained.
“I never understand you. If you want to have fun, you should just go to the other worlds.”
“All we got are Arkon’s Magic and Edmund. Right now, Edmund’s pretty dangerous for us. I want some normal fun for once and badminton is my chance. I don’t care if we didn’t get in. I just wanted to play.”
Shirley made a surprised scream. “Ahhh!”
Matt quickly stood up, “What happened?!”
Yessenia gave a bored expression. She only pointed at Shirley, “A birdie.”
A few birdies had attacked Shirley. “That was it?” Matt became disappointed.
Shirley was playing against Sharon and Huy on a two-on-one match. Shirley yelled at Huy, “Huy! Damn you. Why did you do that?!”
“Why are you just yelling at me?!” Huy got angry.
Sharon giggled. “Look what you did, Huy. Shirley got mad.”
Shirley clenched her fists, “This time I won’t go easy on you.” She took a birdie and she quickly hit Huy before Huy could run away, “Take this, damn you!” Huy was hit on the face. “HEE HAHA! HEEEEE HAAA HA!”
“She’s kinda crazy…” Matt took a step back from fear.
“No kidding on that.” Yessenia agreed. The two of them continued to watch Shirley play badminton. Matt seemed to fall asleep.

In Arkon’s Magic, Mariel and Danny appeared nearby Rena who was cleaning Shirley’s house. The ices were more sparkly than ever. Rena was startled when Mariel quickly started a conversation. “Rena!”
“Huh? M-Mariel, you scared me.”
“I’m sorry. Hey um, do you know more about Edmund? Why is it raining all the time and why does it seem like a sad place to be in?”
“That is the fate of El Monte. After many years, the sky has rained more often.”
“Then why isn’t global warming happening?”
“Global warming?” Rena repeated.
Mariel had her hands on her hips now to indicate that she was frustrate due to the fact that nobody is taking this issue seriously. “Come with us to Edmund. You can show us around, right?”
“Well, I can sense an evil force in there. I know that the Diablo and Stan are within that world. It is dangerous for us to be roaming around there at the moment.” Rena took a step away from Mariel.
“But then they’ll always be in Edmund anyway. What other time is any different?” Mariel complained.
Danny tried to calm her down. “Mariel, please be patient.”
“What, and let those two do something? Who knows what can happen to Edmund with an evil thing like the Diablo along with Stan who tried to kill his own best friend?!”
“Former best friend.” Danny corrected her.
“So Rena, can you help us? Will you go to Edmund with us right now?”
Rena had to think carefully. One little mistake at this point would change so much. She realized that Mariel did have a point. Even if it is dangerous for her to enter Edmund at the moment, the condition would still become even worse. “Okay. I will go there now, but we need to alert the others.”
Mariel giggled, “No way, now’s my chance to shine. Besides, people like Matt won’t be able to survive the rain.”
“How could you say that? Edmund is in grave danger and you are only thinking of fame?”
“No… it’s nothing like that. I’ve been useless for quite awhile now. If you think about it, what use have I done for everybody other than get in the way? In Olympia, I had a minor part to take care of. In Echoville, I tied with Levi and she was barely rank eleven. As for the Forest of Emille, everybody solved mysteries together and I didn’t do much. Edmund is the perfect chance for me. If everybody comes along with me to save Edmund, I’ll still seem like a burden to them yet again.”
Danny was silent. He did not know what to say after listening to Mariel’s determination. Rena sighed, “If you say so. But just this once, you have this chance. Any more dangers and I will call this idea off, do you understand?”
“Loud and clear!” Mariel said excitedly.

It was hours later in El Monte after Matt fell asleep. The top area was slightly different compared to earlier. Matt took a look around to notice something strange. Nobody was around him. Matt scratched his head, “What happened?” A young girl and a young boy came closer to Matt. Matt took sight of them. “It’s Amy Tu and Tommy Luc from my old school.”
Amy skipped her way to Matt, “Hey, remember me?!”
“Which Amy are you, the innocent one I’ve barely met or the Amy from nine years ago?” Matt joked.
Amy placed her hands on her hips, “Oh how mean, Matt! We’re childhood friends.”
Matt chuckled, “Yeah. What are you doing here anyway?”
Amy stood next to Tommy, “He came from Rosemead to visit. Remember him?”
Matt nodded, “Of course I remember!” He spoke to Tommy, “We’ve been friends since the fifth grade all the way up to eighth grade.”
“Yeah, I’ve seen you around since third grade but we didn’t talk to each other until two years later. How is it here in El Monte?”
Amy spoke for Matt, “It’s awesome! Right Matt?”
Matt agreed, “I guess. I didn’t like it at first.”
“Just like two years ago in the seventh grade, huh.” Tommy and Matt began to reminisce about their parallel conversation in the past.

Matt sat down in silence in Columbia Middle School on the very first day. He saw everybody laughing with each other and Matt was too shy to say anything to others. Tommy sat down with him, “How is this school so far?”
Matt said at minimal, “I don’t know. Scary, I guess. Everybody looks old.”
“Really? Me too! I don’t like it here. I’m kinda scared of people too. It’s boring here.”
“Just two more years and we go to a scarier school.” Matt was not looking forward to the future.
“Yep. But we can help each other for the next six years.”
“And that’s a promise!”
“Yeah, it’s a promise!” Tommy exclaimed.

Almost two years later when Matt and Tommy were graduating from middle school, Tommy was frowning at the swinging set. Matt sat down next to him, “This is the same spot from when we first talked about this school.”
“I know. Why are you still here?” Tommy wondered.
“The same reason as you. I don’t want to say goodbye to this school yet. I love it here even if it is a little ghetto.”
Tommy stood up, “Well…”
“Huh?”
“I have to tell you something.” Tommy said with a serious tone.
Matt’s stomach was tightening from worrisome thoughts, “What is it…?”
“I’m going to Rosemead High School next year after all.”
“I thought we agreed to go to high school together? El Monte is just a next step away!”
“I know. I asked my sister if I could transfer to El Monte but she didn’t let me. This is kind of like a family tradition. I follow them.”
Matt got angry, “Fine. But I can promise to you that El Monte is more fun and that it is better!”
“I don’t care.” Tommy tried to make a joke out of Matt’s seriousness. “We’ll see which school is better.”

“I remember that.” Matt chuckled.
“So, do you still think this school is better than mine? Rosemead is pretty awesome.” Tommy seemed certain about his enjoyment. Matt remembered some of the negative things that happened to himself throughout his school year.
Matt began to lie. “Well, my school year was awesome too. I made lots of friends.”
Tommy took a look around, “Looks like you’re the only one here.”
Matt clenched his fists, “They just mysteriously disappeared! Why are you two up here, because you guys miss me then?”
Amy giggled and Tommy pointed at the area downstairs, “I came to see my school kick your butt. Look.”
“What?” Matt stood up and he walked towards the front where the basketball game was played. Matt watched the school, “Home is 24 and Guest is 37.”
“We just made a three-pointer. You scared that we’re going to cream you?”
Matt looked at the time, “We got lots of time left to catch up.” Matt turned around and he said in confusion, “Still though, why did everybody disappear?”
Jen arrived at the top of the steps, “Matt, some strange friends of yours told me on the way up here that they wanted to say that they were just going home but you were busy sleeping. They didn’t want to wake you up.”
Tommy screamed, “Jen!! Remember me?”
Jen slowly turned to him, “Huh?”
Matt ran in front of Jen, “UH-Uh, we have no time for reunions. Hey Jen, I need to talk to you.” Matt dragged her away.
Amy shrugged, “Eh, I guess we’ll go watch the basketball game together then, Tommy.” Tommy decided to go back downstairs to sit with Amy.
Matt said to Jen alone, “That guy’s name is Tommy. You’ve seen him often from the past few years. Pretend that you remember him.”
“Why should I do what you ask for?”
“Jen, I’m serious. Tommy might find out that your memory was lost so it could be dangerous for you to show that you forgot your memory. The other girl is Amy.”
“I know. I see her around. But I’m serious too, Matt. You only talk to me for help, don’t you? You have better friends to depend on.” Jen kicked the wooden floor in shame, “I can’t believe a best friend would do that.”
Matt gasped, “I can’t believe what you’re saying! Jen, please understand. You’re still my best friend. It’s just that we don’t have classes with each other. Who even gave you such an idea anyway?” Matt suddenly remembered Stan, “No way… What did Stan tell you?”
“Stan? He told me nothing.”
“Did he tell you not to mention him saying things too or what?”
“No… What he was saying is true. I don’t see you often, yet the first time I remember seeing you was when you already stopped talking to me often.”
“I have lots of things to worry about. I don’t want you to be a part of it.” Matt tried to reason with Jen but she could not believe him.
Jen began walking away, “Stan was right. You’re just some weakling after all. I can’t believe we were best friends according to you. I’m sorry.” She headed for the steps leading downstairs.
Matt was shaking, “Stan… why are you doing this to me?”

In Edmund, Mariel appeared near the park, “Wow! Back from where we disappeared from, right Danny?”
Rena was shivering fearfully. Danny turned to Rena, “Are you okay?”
Rena said softly, “I will be fine. The essence of the Diablo and Stan are getting stronger. They are watching us.”
Mariel became serious quickly. “Really? That’s a little creepy… Could they hear us?”
“No but they can try to guess what we are talking about. If they see us doing any funny business, they can kill us in an instant. They are that strong.”
“Oh yeah? Why don’t we fight them now!” Mariel clenched her fists. She was ready to fight. She looked up into the sky, “Come on guys, let’s fight!”
Danny covered her mouth, “Sh! Be quiet! What if you don’t stand a chance against them?”
“You don’t!” Rena added on.
Mariel laughed, “Gahahah! Well, it’s not bad to try. My water powers can be useful at some points too. They aren’t Gods.”
“They might as well be.” Rena interrupted. “I am only here to introduce you to the issue that we have here in Edmund. And, don’t do anything ridiculous or else they will come and attack you.”
Mariel frowned. “Awh, fine…”
The group of three were entering El Monte. “So, you two wanted to know about the Freezing Impact, right?”
“Yeah, what is that? It’s very interesting to see that the world’s condition is the complete opposite 600 years after global warming.” Mariel randomly stepped into the mud puddles as they were no problem to her. It would slide right off her due to her water powers. Danny, on the other hand, had to avoid them constantly.
“Well,” Rena began, “A very long time ago, the moon had erupted and the Earth had shifted into a world of extreme coldness. We lived in the dark for far too long but there was nothing we could do about it. Often times, we are able to survive through the troubling atmosphere and we are able to make it through. Because of the Diablo, the idea of a ‘ruling leader’ became no more. Everybody had to obey him.”
“That’s so weird. Since when did our moon explode?”
Danny took a look at the sky, “Have you guys noticed that it is barely the afternoon and the sky is a bit dark?”
Mariel became amazed. “Whoa, you’re right. All of the clouds are really gray and you can see the moon even at this time of day.”
Rena nodded, “This is our world, Edmund, or what we call, The Burden World.”
