Website 3.7, December 25, 2010

Website Version 3.7, at last! First, I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone! This will be the last Christmas before I leave to college next year so I have to make this Christmas a good one. Also, next Saturday is New Years so two holidays on two Saturdays, great! The next paragraph down below is also important to read if you want to know of the future episodes.

This is the last episode before moving on to the real deal of the story. Lots of things will change, even the artwork. Everything will improve. Storylines, characters, and more. You might notice that in some of the introduction artwork of each volume, characters like Jon, Erica, and Sammy were not included. And characters like Peter and Joey barely appeared in Volume 4 yet they are in the drawing. This was simply a huge mistake because of inaccuracy. At the time I was drawing Volume 3, 4, and 5, I had no idea of what the storyline will be in episodes 27+. Now, I am working on episode 63 and the characters in Volume 5 and up are very accurate. For now, here are the last two episodes of the 'level 1 storyline'! :)

Anyway, this is Matthew Tran, offering a story for your boredom, although reading is probably boring to you guys already anyways. Still, take the time to look around I guess!

This story has a rough draft title: Fires of the sky.

This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. At a glimpse, he can see something in the sky. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. Will Matt explain his powers to the whole world and ask for help to change him back into a normal person?"

Characteristics - Huy is a mysterious student so far. He is mostly shown as an anguish student who only believes in his own views. He tends to hide the reason why he is nice to only certain people.

Every so often, Huy's friends mention the shape of his head as an insult. He also over-analyzes situations and acts before thinking.

As the second year continues, Huy is seen more of an older brother to Thuy despite them being cousins. He may be stubborn at times but nothing will stop his passion for protecting those he cares about most.

Subtly, he seems to have a childhood relation to William Ni.

Episode 52: The Shrine of Emille, the Impacted Base! - Part 2

A new year has arrived for all students. Whether powers become used in a different matter, it should still have the same meaning. Finally, it is almost time to get closer to the meaning of such powers. There seems to be one large factor missing within the power wielding world. From the sealed Olympia to the enlightened Arkon’s Magic, the world is now still backing in session. However, there seems to be only one important matter that feels as if it is missing from the group of power wielders. As close as such students get, the more difficult it is to reveal the inconsistent happenings. What is it exactly that caused these inconsistent happenings…?

Episode 52 – The Shrine of Emille, the Impacted Base! – Part 2


            “Matt! Where are you?” Jen called out. She tried her best to scream out for Matt but there was no use. Matt did not appear before her no matter how hard she tried to scream.
            “Hey Matt, where are you?!” Kalpesh said with a worried tone. Stan only stood there, thinking about the situation.
            “Maaaaaaaatt!” Huy mindlessly ran in circles around the trailer rooms across from where the other three were. While running in circles, he rushed through another student just as tall as him.
            The student was Jaime, who almost fell backwards. Jaime fixed his hat and he said out loud, “Hey, what the hell?!”
            Huy became furious with the tone, in addition to how furious he already was with Matt being missing. “I have no time to talk to strangers like you. I need to find a friend.”
            Jaime clenched his teeth, “Who the hell are you to talk to me like that?” Huy did not know this student, so he ran ahead, not caring to see him again in the future. “Matt! If you can hear me, speak up now!!”
            From the distance, Jaime scratched his head, “Ah… that asshole. Was he calling for the same Matt that I know of? Because he should still be around school like Danny said.”
 ~~~
            In the shrine, Shirley was squealing in fear next to Matt. As they were walking down, Matt began to tremble more and more. Shirley was shaking him now, “I understand how you feel! You’re just as scared as I am, I know, I know. Let’s go now!”
            Matt yelled, “GAH! No! I was only shaking because of how annoying your little squeals are! We’re going to get through this. It doesn’t seem so scary after awhile because nothing is happening!”
            At that moment, the two of them could hear a swerving noise. It sounded like a giant pile of goop sliding around. Shirley held on tightly to Matt’s arm, “Eeeeeh! Matt!! I’m telling you now, we should leave!”
            Matt began shaking even more, “Okay this time I’m scared! What is that?!” They both began to scream in horror. Matt took a step back and he shuffled into his backpack for his fire stone. “It’s hard to see with just using our cellphones but I think I got the stone! Come on, flaming bird! You should help us light up the room!”
            Shirley fell to the ground in shame. “You should have sent that out earlier!!!”
            Matt paused, “Eh? Nothing happened.”
            Shirley shined her cellphone over Matt’s fire stone, “Matt…”
            Matt shined his cellphone at Shirley’s angry face, “Geh! W-What?!”
            Shirley grabbed Matt’s arm to have his cellphone shine on the fire stone, “LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE ON YOUR HAND!”
            Matt jumped, “Ah! Wrong one, wrong one!”
            Shirley grabbed onto Matt’s collar as she began shaking him, “Why do you have a tennis ball?! We have no time for games, Matt! Why, why!”
            Matt cried, “I was thinking of joining tennis if I get kicked out of badminton!”
            Shirley took Matt’s bag, saying, “Oh quit it with the sports already. Our lives being protected from whatever’s down there is more important than your stupid attempt as sports.” She took out another stone and she shined at it, “Great, the fire stone! Matt, use it, hurry!”
            Matt took the fire stone and he sent out the flaming baby chick, “Awesome! Use your flames to shine the room.”
            As the baby chick spewed out continuous flames, they could see a giant slime gushing around the room right ahead of them. Matt took a step back up the steps, “Let’s leave…”
            Shirley wanted to cry. “That’s what I suggested a long time ago…!”
            The slime jumped and grabbed onto Matt’s leg. He fell flat on his face. He was being dragged down, step by step on the staircase. Matt’s face got constantly smacked after each step down. “Ow, ow, ow!”
            Shirley tried to follow Matt down the steps to grab him, “Wait for me, Matt! Why are you going down the steps all retarded?!” Her cellphone could only shine on Matt’s head.
            The fire bird followed behind Shirley. Matt screamed, “It’s- ow! Not- ow! Me!!! Ow!!”
            The fire bird spewed out fire down below Matt and Shirley could make out a slime-figure from the flames’ shine, “Ew! What’s that?!” Shirley created a giant piece of ice and she threw it at whatever she saw that was dragging Matt down further into the basement. The slime let go of Matt’s leg and he started gurgling.
            Matt coughed from all of the pain and he frowned, “No more, ow!”
            Shirley tried to take another step down the stairs but her foot could not go deeper to the bottom. They were completely at the bottom of the basement. “Are we finally here?”
            Matt called out, “Well help me out here!” Matt had a hard time standing up but he managed to get up on his own.
            Shirley ignored him and she had her hands on her hips, “Hm… What is this place? There’s gotta be a light somewhere around here since this is a basement.” She pressed her hands and fingers against the wall until she found a light switch. Once she did, the lights turned on and the room began shining.
            Matt, Shirley, and the fire bird were amazed. Shirley clapped her hands together, “This is amazing!!”

            Yessenia found Jaime checking into a trash can. Yessenia crossed her arms and said angrily, “Hey, what the heck are you doing?”
            Jaime stood in front of the trash can, “I don’t know. What do you think?” Yessenia did not want to say anything and Jaime continued, “I was looking for Matt! I heard he’s gone missing. Can you believe that?!”
            Yessenia thought in her mind, “(Erh, that’s even worse than what I expected you to be doing with a trash can…)” She walked towards him, “There is only one place that I can imagine him to be at. I suspected anywhere in El Monte but I do not think he’s in this world at the moment.”
            “Are you telling me he’s in one of the other worlds?” Jaime became concerned and interested.
            Yessenia nodded, “Of course. The only thought I have is the Forest of Emille. Why don’t we take a look?” Jaime agreed to go with her as they both went to a private area to vanish into the Forest of Emille.

            Kalpesh continued calling out for Matt and Stan only stood there. Kalpesh turned to Stan, “Hey, why aren’t you doing anything?”
            Stan clenched his teeth, “Why are you trying to look for someone like him?”
            “Why are you always so rough on him? What did he ever do to you?”
            “He’s just being a burden to us, don’t you get it?”
            “W-What do you mean? No he isn’t.”
            “Just look at us. We’re being asked to look after him. He disappeared on US. Can you believe that?” Stan said angrily.
            Kalpesh said slowly, “I… don’t get where you’re going with this, Stan.”
            Stan explained, “Lately, I mean ever since the beginning of high school, I’ve seen him talking to new friends more.”
            Kalpesh shook his head, “That’s only because we’re not there for HIM. If we’re not there, then who is he to talk to? Nobody? Everyone needs new friends and as for us, we’re just going through a very slow process and even I find that boring. I actually envy him.”
            Stan rolled his eyes, “If we’re not there with him, then he would come look for us just like we do often times.” Kalpesh did not know how to argue against what Stan just said. Stan added, “I’m just tired of how he needs to see my math homework so many times. He always has his new friends, so why would he need us? He betrayed US.”
            Kalpesh sat down in shame, “Maybe… you are right. He doesn’t seem to think we’re fun anyway…”
            Jen was behind a pillar, listening and frowning from their conversation.
 ~~~
            In the basement, Shirley screamed in happiness, “This room is filled with food!!”
            Matt fell to the ground along with his bird in false joy, “Bleh!” Matt yelled. “You’re happy just for THIS?!”
            Shirley giggled, “Of course, Matt. Why can’t you ever appreciate food as much as they appreciate us?”
            “They have feelings?” Matt said in surprise.
            “Yes!” She ran up to a half-cut sandwich but it transformed to a smaller version of the giant slime. Shirley took a step back, “Bleh- What the?!”
            She ran back to Matt, feeling that the rest of the foods are slimes as well. Having her said to be correct, all of the foods became slimes. Matt and Shirley hugged each other, screaming their hearts out in fear. The flame bird ran in circles around them.
            From outside, Yessenia turned to a direction, “Do you hear that?”
            Jaime nodded, “Yeah, it sounded like it came from that way.” Jaime pointed to the same direction and Yessenia ran along with him towards the screams.
            As they reached the shrine, they could see the open creak. Yessenia chuckled, “Hm, so I was right. There really is a basement. I think they are down there.”
            Jaime scratched his head, “Is it wrong that we’re acting so casual after hearing their screams?”
            Yessenia yawned, “Eh, they could teleport back into the real world. If anything, then they would just leave us with whatever they screamed from if we go down there. Why don’t we check it out?” Jaime agreed to do so.
 ~~~
            One slime after another, each of them fell after Matt, Shirley, and the fire bird were fighting them all. From behind, slimes smacked Matt and Shirley. The bird flew, spewing out flames. Matt and Shirley got knocked down with their cellphones sliding out of their pockets. Shirley was on the ground now, trying to reach for her cellphone, “W-We are in danger!” The slimes began taking the cellphones and devouring them. Shirley exclaimed, “EEEEH?! That’s MY cellphone you just swallowed!” She stood up, ignoring her pain. She grabbed the slime by the arm and she threw it against the wall, “That cellphone costs SO MUCH and you just… ugh!!” She suddenly felt the pain inside her again as she fell.
            Matt said normally, “Oh well, that’s not my cellphone…”
            Shirley yelled, “BUT THAT’S YOUR ONLY WAY OUT OF HERE!!”
            Matt became serious, “THE CELLPHONE!”
            Yessenia and Jaime arrived and they could see Matt and Shirley in danger. Jaime pointed at the fire bird, “What the hell?!”
            Yessenia ignored him, “Never mind that. We should take down these slimes!” Yessenia used her blunt sword to swerve a massive amount of wind on the slimes. Jaime used his shadow powers but the slimes only quivered. Whatever the shadows felt, Jaime could feel the same. He canceled off his shadow powers. Yessenia’s wind powers were not strong enough to send them off the ground and her blunt sword cut each slime in half, only multiplying them.
            As the slimes were multiplying, they were attacking Jaime and Yessenia, some of the slimes grabbing into their pockets for their cellphones. Jaime got angry, “These Digicells know how to steal!”
            The bird watched the four students feeling pain. It was sweating, questioning what it should do. It knew something that Matt did not know all along. There was only one way for them to be saved and the bird knew exactly how. It covered itself with its wings and it began to vibrate.
            Matt looked up at his fire bird, “Fly away, run before they reach you…!”
            The bird gave a smirk of a smile and it opened its wings, sending out a rain of flames all over the room. Matt, Shirley, Yessenia, and Jaime were all under the slimes. All of the slimes were squealing in pain. Matt could see the bird shining with the flames as if there was an explosion in the process. Matt’s heart sank. His eyes opened wide and in his mind, the only sound he could hear was… nothing.
            “NOOOO!!!!!” Matt called out.
 ~~~
            As a bird, it seemed to have a big heart. It knew very well that the only way for it to save Matt in this type of situation was to sacrifice itself… Matt’s mind came to his senses again and all of the slimes completely vanished away like regular Digicells.
            Matt sat up, along with his friends, half beat. He crawled over to his flaming bird. It was still breathing. Matt carried it and he began to cry, “No… this can’t be.”
            The bird was sweating and breathing heavily. It looked over at Matt and gave a smile. It continued to smile with its wings reaching for Matt’s face for a few seconds until it stopped and let go. The wing fell flat down and the bird froze. Matt became extremely speechless. He closed his eyes, not wanting to say another word.
            Shirley, Yessenia, and Jaime were all speechless after seeing that the bird and Matt spent their time together getting stronger and loving each other as owner and pet. This was another sacrifice that Matt had to make…

         Santi was sitting alone in a classroom, looking out the window on the second floor in the English building. He was watching the sunset saying, “Sacrifices are always made… the powers are just beginning to unveil the truth to the world… It is a shame, but this is where I take my lead.” He sighed and stood up, leaving the classroom…

Matt: On the next chapter, Matt goes into complete despair. It looks like the death of the flaming little chick impacted him by a whole lot. This was not the reason, though. It is the fact that Matt had already let two important people or animals leave his life in such a short amount of time.
Danny: Jen and Stan start to argue about Matt and his friendship status too!
Peter: W-What was that in my dream?!
Matt: Wow! Yessenia, look, look! My house!
Yessenia: That is a surprise. You must be glad that you have one of your own here now.
Mariel: Ahh, you two! Leave me alone and stop interviewing me!
Matt: It looks like many people in the next episode will have their own little problems. This is the start of the next adventure. Many people will begin to have a plot of their own. Next time in Volume 5, Mourning Under a New Home!

Episode 51 – The Shrine of Emille, the Impacted Base! – Part 1


            The shrine senses a strange presence, perhaps many presences that were never before seen for almost a millennium. The species of humans have slightly changed since then. In response to the presences, the shrine began to shine a red glow. The red glowing stone deep within the shrine began to crack open. A small gush of green began pouring out of the unknown…

            “Alright, kiddos! I made up a list of who made it in for badminton. I had to cut out a lot of people in order to keep a stable and small team of about ten for each gender. Please check the list!” said the badminton coach.
            All the students present in the badminton practice began rushing up to the list. Matt fell to the ground, coughing. “Agh, wait for me!”
            Matt was standing in the back behind many students. Matt could see Shirley jumping in the front screaming, “I made it! I made it!!” Matt smiled, feeling happy for her but also worried about himself. Other students began to clear away and Matt could see his friends still standing around.
            Huy jumped as well, “Yes! I made it too!” Shirley smiled and they both gave each other a high-five. They then remembered about their past experiences and hatred for each other. They suddenly both looked away, crossing their arms in anger.
            Mariel frowned, “Wha? I didn’t make it?”
            Alex covered his face and made a murmured sound that sounded as if he was crying, “Aw, huh-huh… I didn’t make it either.”
            Matt raised an eyebrow, wondering what went wrong. Yessenia crossed her arms and nodded, “Tsk, tsk, I knew I wouldn’t make it in. I hate trying.” She turned around and walked away from the list with a normal expression as if she did not care at all.
            Stan and Kalpesh were feeling sad. Stan got angry, “I don’t get it. Why didn’t I make it in? I play really good!”
            Kalpesh shrugged and Jen sighed, “I am an extra, a backup…”
            Matt walked up to Jen, “What? But I clearly saw you play really good when the coaches were testing your abilities.”
            Jen tapped her shoes, “Hm… Maybe, but I don’t know. I didn’t think I was that great.”
            Kalpesh pointed at her, “You should complain! I know WE did badly during the test but you got them ALL. You should get in.”
            Jen looked at Matt. Matt was confused about her concern, so he checked the list to find out that he did not make it in. “Oh… I uh…”
            Jen held Matt’s shoulder, “I was thinking that if you didn’t make it… then badminton wouldn’t be fun anymore. That’s why right now, I don’t really care that I’m an extra. In fact, I don’t think I want to be in the team anymore.” Matt, Stan, and Kalpesh were silent in awe. Jen giggled, “Don’t worry, Matt. I won’t leave you like that.”
            Stan joked about her, “Man you’re too attached. I’m going home now. See ya!” Kalpesh followed along.
            Matt turned to Jen, “W-What was that all about, Jen? You shouldn’t quiz the team just because I didn’t get in.”
            Jen turned away, “Well… I wanted to pay you back for what I did before.”
            “What are you talking about?” Matt asked. Jen walked away without a word.
            Matt sighed, “Is this about when she left me during lunch back in October? She wouldn’t let that go, would she? I got over it awhile ago already. Oh well.” He looked at the list again, “But still… I knew I wasn’t going to get in, but the feeling of being rejected hurts. This is something else I have to get over, Jen.” He thought about Stan, “Nowadays I still only hang out with Stan and Kalpesh. I follow them home whenever they leave and they both leave really early without dedicating themselves to playing badminton. Why should I get in? Why is Stan even questioning about how he didn’t get in? It feels like I’ve been following Stan around too much and it didn’t pay off. I should just cool off somewhere, maybe Arkon’s Magic.”

            In Arkon’s Magic, Matt was sitting outside of Shirley’s house. He was watching Jaime use his shadow powers again Yessenia’s wind powers. Yessenia was using her blunt sword to swoosh off Jaime’s shadows. Matt only sat there next to Danny and Shirley.
            Danny kept staring at Matt’s face. Shirley slapped Danny on the head, “Psst, don’t stare at him like that!”
            Danny ignored her and he asked Matt, “Why are you sad?”
            “Yo!” Shirley slapped Danny even harder in anger.
            Matt responded in shame, “I didn’t get into the badminton team but I’m trying to get over it.”
            Shirley comforted him, “Matt, don’t worry. Lots of people didn’t get in, not just you. And I notice that you go home early sometimes and you’re not the worst person in practices. There are lots of tougher things in the future that you will have to handle. In fact, there are people that are way stronger, mentally than we are. We are just Freshmen, inferior people that are nothing close to them just because they are Seniors, or upperclassmen to be specific. Think of the things you’re better at, Matt. I know you will become someone greater than just a badminton guy!”
            Matt stumped her down, “Easy for you to say. You made it into the team.”
            Shirley became guilty but she still went on, “No, that’s not it. I just… Well, you’re lucky. You’re strong with your powers, aren’t you?”
            Matt pointed at Jaime and Yessenia, still battling each other, “They’re stronger than me. Santi is stronger than me because his time powers can mess with anyone’s mind. My fire powers can’t be as strong. I only have fireballs and the baby chick.”
            Shirley stood up, “Well let’s practice with your fire powers. There are
Digicells all over in the Forest of Emille, right?”
            Matt watched her standing now, “Are you serious about going back in there?”
            Shirley giggled, “Of course! We’ll fight weaker Digicells, together.” She kneeled down to get closer to Danny’s ear so she could whisper, “Hey, we’re going to borrow your cellphone for a little while. Tell Jaime and Yessenia that we are going back to school.” Danny gave his cellphone over to Shirley and Shirley invited Matt into her ice house.
            In the house, Matt asked Shirley, “Why couldn’t you just invite Jaime and Yessenia?”
            Shirley poked Matt’s forehead, “Stuuu-pid.~ You don’t want them to be taking all of your Digicells, do you? They’ll think we’re crazy for mindlessly fighting them anyway. Well, at least Yessenia will think we’re crazy. Jaime probably wouldn’t give a crap. But anyway, let’s go!” Shirley and Matt pressed the button to teleport into the Forest of Emille.

            In the forest, Matt almost tripped when he appeared. Shirley still fell on her behind, yelping, “Oomph! Damn it, my short-short’s got dusty.” She stood up to wipe the dirt away.
            Matt joked, “Is that all you care about?”
            “Yes! Now let’s go.” Shirley said with pride.
            As they were walking along, they began feeling tired. It took only several minutes for them to feel exhausted. Matt coughed, almost sounding like a whooping cough, “Uck… Where are the Digicells?”
            Shirley scratched her head in wonder, “Hm, I don’t know actually. Let’s try screaming.”
            Matt tried to stop her, “W-Wait, wouldn’t that-…”
            “AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” Shirley screamed as loud as she could.
            Matt continued to say what he wanted to say, “cause some kind of stampede…?” Only many birds began flying out of the trees up above from far away from their vision.
            Shirley watched the birds flying away, “Nah, I think the stampede was only from the rhinos that we fought before. Where did those birds come from anyway?”
            Matt pointed up ahead, “Well they came from over there, I’m guessing.”
            Shirley sat down on the ground in shame, “Aw man, do we have to walk another half mile? I’m tired already. Let’s look for them next time.”
            Matt yelled at her in a surprised tone, “What the- You wanted to take me here in the first place!”
            Shirley yelled back at him, “Well I didn’t know this forest would have nothing!”
            Matt suddenly pointed at her legs, “Oh and your pants are dirty again from sitting down.”
            Shirley quickly stood up, “Uh- Not again! Ahh!” She became serious, “Fine, we’ll go but this will be the last time I’m walking that far.”
            “But you run a mile everyday on Fridays for PE.” Matt corrected her.
            “Oh whatever don’t tell me what to do.” She stomped away.
            Matt said blankly, “I-I didn’t…”
 ~~~
            At the area of where the birds flew out of many trees, Matt could see the shrine again. “Hey, it’s this place again.”
            Shirley stepped on some of the broken pieces of the building, “Aw man, this isn’t interesting anymore. We were supposed to ask Santi about this place.”
            Shirley almost tripped from a little creak, “Aiyah!” She kept her balance and then she stood on top of the creak again, but more safely. “What is this?”
            Matt shrugged. “Eh, who knows?” He began walking around to explore the area again. He noticed that there was still a small piece of building facing upward. It did not seem to be damaged yet unlike the rest of the building. Matt placed his finger on the building and he noticed that the dust was extremely horrible. He could see a complete change from gray dust to a light-brownish color from the original color of the building, “Euh…” He blew onto the dust and the whole pack flew onto his face. Matt began coughing.
            Shirley placed her wrists on her hips, “Okay what are you doing?”
            Matt turned to Shirley and he pointed at the building, “This building is really dusty, don’t blame me!” His finger was too close to the building which made him accidentally press a button.
            The creak began to open up fast and Shirley fell to the floor, “Aiyah! What the hell was that for?!”
            Matt jumped in surprise, “I-I’m sorry!”
            Shirley clenched her fists, “You’re gonna pay for that!”
            Matt pointed at the open creak, “Look, the basement?”
            Shirley became serious again. “Hm, it must be. Should we go in to check?”
            Matt took out his cellphone, “Yeah, and if we’re in danger, we can just teleport out of here.” Shirley agreed with him.
 ~~~
            In the real world, Jen was walking with Stan, Kalpesh, and Huy. They were near the girl’s locker. Jen was shaking, having Huy’s cellphone on her right ear. “Okay… I’m sorry for calling. He’s probably somewhere around the school.”
            From inside the restroom in the girl’s locker, Yessenia appeared and she gave herself a grief sigh, “Phew, good thing there weren’t any girls in here to see me.” She began walking out.
            Jen came to a stop as she closed Huy’s cellphone, “Thanks Huy.” She frowned, saying, “Matt’s still missing…” Huy was also Jen’s, Stan’s, and Kalpesh’s friends as they all went to Columbia together. They all, including Matt, met Huy in the seventh grade.
            Yessenia walked out, hearing the fact that Jen was saying Matt went missing. Huy took his cellphone from Jen’s hands and he asked her, “Why do you need to find him anyway?”
            Jen held onto Matt’s sweater, “He left it in the large gym and I wanted to give it back to him. I guess I’ll give it to him tomorrow. I can’t believe he’s not even home yet. It’s almost late.”
            Yessenia began to wonder about him herself, “Strange… Danny told me he left Arkon’s Magic early to go back to school. Maybe he’s on the bus.” He took a look at the time in her cellphone, “No, it can’t be. The bus comes every forty minutes and Matt usually goes to the bus stop in the last minute. He should still be somewhere where at least someone knows about him. Wait, could he be…?!”
            Jen’s group began to walk away and Yessenia interrupted them, “Are you all looking for Matt?”
            Jen did not know Yessenia very well but she has been making friendly progress with her since they have the same lunch periods ever since second semester began. “Yeah, do you know where he is?”
            Yessenia was only close to Jen, so she directed her answer only to Jen, “I don’t, but can you look around the school for him? I’m sure he’s here somewhere. I’ll check around too.”
            Jen began to feel hope, “Really?! Oh my gosh, thank you! Um, we all don’t have cellphones except Huy. Do you mind giving each other your numbers?” Yessenia and Huy nodded.
 ~~~
            Back in the shrine of the Forest of Emille, Matt and Shirley were going deeper into the basement. It was getting darker and their steps’ echoes became stronger. Shirley began to shake as she paused, “Matt, this is scary.” She held onto his arms, “We should leave right now.”
            Matt turned on his cellphone, “Not yet. I want to know what’s down here.”
            “Why didn’t we just turn on the lights?!”
            Matt screamed at her, “Well duh, it was broken just like the rest of the building!”
            Shirley turned on her cellphone as well, “Euhhh, fine… But if something scary comes then we press the home button!”
         Matt said softly, “Fine, fine.”
