Website 6.3, June 25, 2011

Today, I am featuring Website Version 6.3! It corresponds to May 2008.

The past week has been really peaceful but stale. Nothing much happened, really. Soon, I will upload a map of El Monte so that you all can have a visual aid when there is a scene in the school. Remember, next week is Volume 8! Let's see what is in store for everybody soon!

My name is Matthew Tran and this is a story titled 'Fires of the Sky'. This was made out of boredom so I don't expect good grammar until later.

This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. What will Matt have to do?"

Episode 91: The Forest of Emille, Blaze before the Sun

The loss of memory becomes unavoidable. The man becomes uncontrolled by the powers of time and gains the truth for the future. A few people appear as a mystery and it is unknown whether their goal is between each other, or towards those who hold special powers. With the events of many house parties, the group becomes endangered by those who had not known before. With the important memory loss, it is unsure for a young girl to gain her memory back. Focusing on the return of the Forest of Emille, all power users are stronger since the last time they had escaped from eternal danger. Will all of the power users be able to conquer the forest this time around…?

Episode 91 - The Forest of Emille, Blaze before the Sun

In El Monte, Alex was sitting down nearby the women’s lockers. Almost everyday, he would wait for Mariel as that was their meet-up spot. Lately, she hasn’t been showing up. Alex waited for long minutes compared to before when she would say ‘I’ll be right there’. Now, she does not even reply to Alex’s phone calls. Jaime was also nearby but he was standing there, thinking about where to go next because he always had after school plans. Peter arrived minutes after, watching Alex sitting and frowning.

“We don’t talk much, but I just had to wonder… you don’t look so happy.” Peter said to Alex.

Jaime was listening to them but he pretended to sit down, doing his own thing. Alex replied, “I’m sorta not. It doesn’t seem like Mariel wants to talk to me anymore and I don’t know why. Sometimes I wonder if she hates me or something. The last time she talked to me was when she hated how I act like I care too much about her.”

“You do, don’t you?”

“I guess, but I didn’t mean to bother her like that. I wanted to tell her I’m sorry.”

“Maybe it’s not you who she’s bothered by. Maybe it’s something else that nobody expects.”

“Like what?”

“Mariel could be in some imaginative world. Who knows?”

Jaime interrupted them. “You guys’re crazy to be thinking that. There’s no such thing as an ‘imaginative world’. She’s just going through her period or something.”

“I know how she acts when she’s on her period.” Alex said. “She’s nothing as harsh as how she is now.”

“Too much information.” Peter took a step back. “But Jaime, if you don’t believe me, I have some interesting story to tell.” The group of three was bonding a little. Peter decided to talk about what he oversaw with Mariel, Matt, and Shirley talking about Danny being in danger in an abyss within the Forest of Emille.

“Stop it!” Mariel yelped. “This isn’t going to solve anything, you two!”

“Calm down, Matt. Keep your temper calm and don’t fight back.” Danny was worried that one of them would get severely hurt.

Matt threw a fireball but Stan summoned a shield. Matt got angry. “Why are you blocking everything and not taking it like a man? At this rate, I will never be able to reach your weak spots.”

“That’s a stupid thing to say, Matt. Even with disadvantages, you should be able to fight back fairly. After all, you’re gifted with fire powers!” Stan threw his sword like a boomerang and Matt had to dodge it.

Rena knelt down again. “This feeling is getting stronger…! I am trying so hard not to collapse.”

“Hang in there, Rena. We will stop Matt as soon as possible.” said Yessenia.

“He is towards the entrance to Edmund! I can feel his power growing.” She followed her own path and the group decided to join along.

Stan threw another boomerang-like sword and Matt dodged it again. “And aren’t you just as bad for repeating the same moves over and over?” Matt began to glide with flames under his legs, “I’m not even done yet!” Matt threw a fireball and Stan avoided it. The fireball inflicted some trees that were not cut.

Mariel ducked under some trees, “Ahhh!”

“I can’t believe I’m saying this but why didn’t Stan cut all of the trees earlier? Now Matt’s fire powers is burning them down!” Danny was panicking.

Matt was too angry to notice any of the flaming trees. Mariel used her water powers to calm down the flames but the flames were much stronger and faster. It spread exponentially from one tree to another. Mariel screamed, “Eek! Danny, help! Do something useful.”

“Like what? I’ve tried my best just trying to find that abyss myself and now you want me to stop forest fires with ground powers?!”

Matt threw another fireball and Stan laughed, “Nyahaha! Are you stupid? Take a look around you.”

Matt finally focused on his surroundings. “Wh-What’s going on?” The forest was catching on fire. “D-Did I do this?”

“Yes you have. What kind of fighter are you, attacking everything else but me? You are a true demon.” Stan taunted Matt.

Matt remembered what Jaime said about how Matt’s fire powers are only used for evil. “This can’t be happening!” Matt said in surprise. “I can’t believe it!!” While Matt was caught off-guard, Stan threw another sword and it cut the side of Matt’s stomach. Matt was in pain as his gliding fire dispersed. He fell to the ground, coughing. “Ergh! No!”

Stan stood in front of Matt with the sword flying back into Stan’s right hand, “Hmph. You’ve failed to beat me and you’ve burned this forest at the same time. How bad is that?” Mariel was too busy watering down the flames and Danny was panicking in a circle. “Your whole group is a fail. Just me alone, I can do everything.” Stan turned around and he was walking closer to the door of Edmund.

Matt tried to use his hands to reach out to Stan, “Wait… stop…” Matt was becoming unconscious. “Am I… dying? This can’t be…” He said calmly. “I’ve felt worse in Echoville…” His vision was worsening and his eyes eventually closed.

“Hey…” a quiet voice was heard. “Can you hear me?”

“What?”

“Hm, normal as always. Stop running around on your own.”

“So.”

“’So’? Is that all you have got to say, kid?”

“Yes.”

“You are not feeling well, no?”

“I guess.” Matt’s eyes were open but not completely. He was lying down on a bed, facing the opposite side from where Santi was sitting. They were in Matt’s house of Arkon’s Magic.

Santi gave Matt a cup of water, “Why don’t you rest up a little bit?” Santi suggested. “Hey, I’ve been softening up my English a little just so you can feel more comfortable talking to me.”

“That doesn’t solve anything.” Matt said in shame.

“I know you are not feeling that well but I’m just trying my best to cheer you up.”

“I just don’t get it…” Matt still had the whole scene memorized from what just happened. “Why aren’t you mad at me?”

Santi laughed, “You were just angry and you couldn’t control your temper, I assume. Mariel and Danny told me everything. They were worried so much about you. Yessenia, Winny, Rena and I arrived soon after we saw the fire start. You were fainted and Mariel was crying. Danny was running in circles. Mariel kept telling me that she is ashamed that she was yet again useless. I took you here in your house.”

“So, what happened to the forest?” Matt wondered.

“The flames exponentially grew. None of us could have done anything to stop it, not even Rena. If only I could still take advantage of my time powers, I would seriously have used it.”

“If it grew, then that means…”

“Yes, the whole forest is all burned down. Look on the bright side though; maybe we can fix it somehow. Plant life can still grow. Also, Edmund is now open and ready for us to enter.”

Matt looked away again, “The whole Forest of Emille is burned down… by my fire powers.”

“Come on, don’t think of it that way. Once you feel like moving again, we can go to Edmund. I know you’re excited!”

Matt chuckled a little. “I am, a bit.”

Santi stood up, “Well, whenever you’re ready, just tell me. I will be outside checking up on everybody else.”

Matt faced upward and then he thought to himself, “Santi is not mad because I ruined the whole forest. I was mad when he made Jen lose her memory. Both are almost the same importance to me yet he could keep his temper and I couldn’t. I am a loser…”

Santi opened the door from Matt’s house and he took a step outside. Mariel, Danny, Yessenia, Winny and Rena all faced Santi at almost the same time. Mariel and Danny ran towards Santi as quickly as possible. Yessenia only walked while Winny and Rena stayed at their positions. Mariel was curious about Matt, “It’s been hours since he hasn’t awakened yet. Is it okay?”

Santi nodded with a smile, “He doesn’t look too bad. I think he’s fine but he needs to rest a little longer.” The group gave themselves a sigh.

Danny wiped his forehead, “Phew. I was starting to think we needed a doctor. Imagine if Matt was brought to one, the doctor would be wondering why Matt was involved with a sword stabbed onto the side of his stomach.”

“Don’t give us the idea.” Mariel rolled her eyes. “Still, I can’t believe Matt ruined the whole damn forest!”

“Let’s not get mad at anybody right now. In this situation, we need to stop Stan and we cannot afford to lose any friendships. Back when Matt scolded Danny, our whole group temporarily separated for a few days but now we’re back together. Well, almost all of us. We should keep our troubles to ourselves when dealing with Edmund, just the seven of us.”

Winny turned to Rena, “So uh, Rena, can you tell us more about Edmund?”

Rena nodded. “Okay. First, please take a look at your cellphones. I assume that the option ‘Edmund’ is now open.” The group checked their cellphones to verify that she is correct. “I took a look at the list from Danny’s cellphone and it shows El Monte, Arkon’s Magic, Olympia, Echoville, Forest of Emille, and Edmund. However, only El Monte, Arkon’s Magic, and Emund are currently open. The Forest of Emille has just been closed due to the flames.”

Danny interrupted her, “But I remember talking about how these worlds close when the ending was meant to happen. In Olympia, every person turned into stone while in Echoville, we defeated the Halflings.”

“Don’t interrupt her!” Mariel yelled.

Rena shook her head, “Yes. It appears to be true that the Forest of Emille’s fate was to be ruined into a crisp. We can thank Matt, but I feel that the forest’s result could have been handled better. About Edmund though, it is not what you hope it would be. The future of El Monte does not look so bright and that is due to all of your powers.”

“What are you trying to say?” Yessenia was curious. “That our actions reflect the way Edmund is portrayed?”

“Exactly. Edmund is your future. Although you will not survive for the next 600 years, keep in mind that Edmund is El Monte, only in the future.”

“Why don’t we check it out now?” Mariel suggested.

“I think we should wait for Matt.” Winny added.

“Why did you become so concerned about Matt all the sudden?” Danny said.

“None of your business.” Winny glared at him and Danny became afraid. Winny became giddy, “Oh just kidding.~ Don’t take it up the butt.”

Mariel said quietly, “I can’t believe you just said that.”

Rena continued, “My connections to Edmund are one of the most important. I was born in Edmund as a Survor.”

“Survor?” Yessenia repeated.

“Yes. It is what we call ourselves. The demon and I are the only ones who possess powers passed down by you guys. We were not really born with it, just like you guys. The demon, whom I call the Diablo, and I were injected with it right when we were born. Days later, the creator passed away and day by day, more Survors had died, leading to only me and the Diablo. As we grew up distantly, he became more selfish so he wanted to calcify me to claim that he is the only Survor left.”

“Calcifying a woman just to claim the title as the last Survor, how shallow.” Santi was disappointed.

“No, there is a lot more to it than that.” Rena added. “He never really wanted such powers anyway. He is just like Matt. He wanted to get rid of his powers. The only difference between them two is that the Diablo decided to give in and accept his powers by abusing them. Because we grew up distant, he didn’t want to believe that I was born in the same hospital almost at the same time with him. He took me as a stranger and calcified me deep in the forest where nobody would find me. Both our powers can sense danger and anything else in the world of Edmund while nobody else can. I’m afraid that this is not even half the story yet.”

“That gives me the shivers.” Mariel said.

“This is too much to tell at the moment. I apologize.” Rena said.

Winny headed for Matt’s room, “It is alright. You can continue at anytime. I want to check if Matt is okay.” Yessenia followed her.

In Matt’s room, Matt could see Winny and Yessenia entering. “Oh, it’s you two.”

“Are you alright?” Yessenia asked.

“Yeah, a little.” Matt answered. “I’ve been wondering why Santi appears a lot more often by my side now. Why is he so nice?”

“Oh, about that…” Yessenia said slowly. “Should we tell him?”

Winny shrugged, “Santi… has a limited time left.”

Yessenia jumped, “You just said it like that?”

Matt opened his eyes wide, “What?”

“His time powers had already weakened him and there’s no way to fix it.” Winny said bluntly.

Matt’s eyes were still wide, “Is this all just a joke?”

Winny frowned, “I’m afraid not. Soon, Santi will be gone. This is why he wanted to show you who he really is before it is too late. The real Santi is much more sensitive and kind than you think.”

“No… no, this can’t be. He’s not dying.” Matt said. “YOU’RE LYING!”

Website 6.2, June 18, 2011

Today, I am featuring Website Version 6.2! It corresponds to May 2008.

Baccalaureate, Graduation, AND the beach social for Leos/Laurels all happened within a week! It has been a long adventure, high school. I will seriously miss you... all that's left is for this story to catch up to the end of my high school career and you will see the whole picture. :) As for now, enjoy my Freshman year of May, 2008! Hahaha.

Episode 90: Fight for the Memory, It's Payback

Episode 90 - Fight for the Memory, It's Payback

“I am not going to fall for any lies. I know what’s going on.” Jennifer said to Santi, Yessenia and Winny.

Yessenia lied. She told Jennifer, “Rena is just an ordinary girl who wanted to visit El Monte for a college survey. I told her that the perfect day to do so is on the same day as the performance for choir.”

“Exactly.” Winny added. “Doing so would increase the chance of her figuring out how well our school performs against other schools.”

Jennifer had a smirk on her face. She shook her head and then she rolled her eyes. “It seems a lot more different to me. Do you know why?” The three students were waiting for her response.

In the Forest of Emille, Matt appeared near a large area with broken trees and smashed bushes. He followed the road while Mariel was teleported to an area nearby the abyss. The road towards the abyss was straightforward due to the path, which the dinosaur had taken. Matt decided that it was a great idea to follow it. Eventually, Matt could find Mariel crouching over for Danny.

Matt tried to grab Danny’s hand but Danny’s grip was not as strong as it is normally. Besides, Matt and Mariel together were not strong enough to take him out of the abyss. Matt stood up and he just remembered something important. “That’s it!” He exclaimed. He can use his gliding skill, which he had learned before entering Echoville. His feet were in flames and he glided down into the abyss right under Danny.

Mariel knelt down to examine the hole, “What are you doing, Matt?!”

From below, Matt pushed Danny’s legs upward and Danny was slowly pushing his own way upward as well. Eventually, Danny was safe and sound and everyone was out of the abyss. After moments of resting, Danny wiped his forehead, “Phew! Thank you so much, Matt!” He remembered what Matt had said a while ago when Jen’s memory had disappeared. “Oh… but then again, I have been another burden.”

Matt interrupted him, “Be quiet. Who cares if you are or if you aren’t. You tried your best to be helpful and I guess that is most important.”

Mariel crossed her arms, “You guess? It IS the most important thing about a person. Trying your best just shows who you really are and what you really want.”

In that case, Matt decided to ask, “So? Then why are you here? Actually, why are you both here?”

Danny did not want to answer that question. His reason for entering the Forest of Emille was to show that if he succeeded to move onward in the forest long enough, he would be able to show how strong he is. Then, Matt would respect Danny. As for Mariel, she explained, “Well uh, I kinda wanted to know about Edmund. Didn’t you hear what Rena said? If this forest is connected to another world, and the forest is the future of El Monte, then what does that make Edmund?”

Matt was interested all the sudden. “Hey you’re right. That does seem interesting. What is the world of Edmund anyway?”

Mariel shrugged, “Beats me! I just want to figure it out already. Why don’t we keep going? The abyss is there and now all we have to do is continue on.”

Danny stood up, “I-I’ll follow you guys if that’s okay.” Matt and Mariel agreed that the three of them should look for the next place, Edmund.

Stan was walking through the hallway in the Science building. He could see Jen staring at a poster without any expression. She stood there in silence. Stan approached her and then he asked, “Why are you looking at a college poster? You’re still a freshman.”

Jen said slowly, “Brought… to you… by… N.H.S.?”

Stan grabbed her shoulders, grabbing her attention. “Hey, are you listening?!”

Jen smiled, “This is a good motivation for me. Hi, I’m Jen.”

“Uh, I know that?”

“How?”

“What do you mean ‘how’? Stop joking around.” Stan became frustrated.

Jen scratched her head. “Umm… I really don’t know you. What is your name again?”

“I’m Stan! Don’t you know? How do you not remember me?”

Jen giggled, “You don’t need to be mad. Maybe I didn’t have enough sleep. You might come back in my mind soon.”

“I’m serious.” Stan said. “How did this happen?”

“I don’t know. Jen tried to remember. No one really noticed. They just thought I was being stupid or something. The only people who actually worried about me were my parents and Matt and his friends.”

“Matt?” Right away, Stan knew that Jen’s memory loss had something to do with Matt. “That’s it. This has gone far enough!” Stan ran off.

Jen tried to reach for him, “W-Wait! I barely met you. Come back…”

Jennifer spoke to the group of three still. She laughed and said, “Rena is a girl who doesn’t even go to El Monte. How many times do I have to prove this to you? Who is she? Why isn’t anybody speaking up, huh?” Suddenly, her phone rang. She picked up her phone while Winny, Santi and Yessenia were watching her. “Mhm, mm… Right now? This is always happening to you. Fine, I’ll come over in a bit.” She hung up and then she shook her head in disappointment, “It looks like you guys got away with this one. I have an urgent meeting to attend. Hopefully next time, you’ll spill the beans!” She ran off.

Yessenia knelt down and then she coughed. “What just happened? It was as if none of us were able to confess anything.”

“We could not.” Santi said. “Anybody without powers is forbidden to know about us.”

“We should talk to Rena about what to do next. The sooner we return her to this ‘Edmund’ world, the safer we are from Jennifer. We shouldn’t deal with Rena anymore after.” Winny crossed her arms. “Our pacing is really slowly lately. We should speed up the process.” Yessenia and Santi agreed with her.

In the Forest of Emille, Matt, Danny and Mariel walked together down the road. They did not know exactly where the road was taking them. Since it is the only path, they guessed it was the correct way. Eventually, the group of three could see a few muddy footsteps up ahead. Matt pointed at them, “Hey look, someone was already here.”

“That’s super weird.” Mariel scratched her head. “Could it be anybody dangerous or something?”

“I’m not sure. We shouldn’t be stepping on the mud too or else we’ll be caught. We should take a peek on who’s ahead though. We can always leave if it gets dangerous, remember that.” Matt suggested. The group agreed and Mariel used her water powers to make the footsteps disappear from the mud when necessary.

Up ahead, Matt took a glance at a familiar person staring right at a mysterious wall with an isolated door. Matt jumped back into the bushes and he grabbed Danny back from going further. Danny made a little yelp as he was thrown into the bushes. “Eyaah! Hey, what’s the big idea?”

Matt whispered, “Sh! I think that’s Stan!”

“What?” Mariel and Danny said at the same time. The group of three watched Stan carefully.

At the door, Stan opened his palms and he readied them. “Just ahead of this door is the world of Edmund. I can’t believe it’s just a few steps away.” He said to himself.

Matt whispered to his friends, “This is impossible! Stan already found the door before us. What are we going to do now?”

“At least he opened it for us.” Mariel spoke.

“Yeah.” Danny added.

“Don’t you guys get it? This could be dangerous. Stan could do anything to Edmund, we wouldn’t know. Remember what happened near the men’s lockers, Mariel? He almost attacked us in public. There’s no doubt things can get worse in Edmund.”

“Who knows? Maybe Edmund has a strong military force or something. I’m sure they can help stop Stan. Look, when Stan is gone, we’ll make our way in.”

Matt sighed but he had no other plan, so he decided to agree with Mariel. The door was slowly opening and the group of three could see shades of gray within. Stan opened his arms wide, “Ah, this is a nice feeling! I am finally going to see the future of El Monte! This must be the final area, as I get to find out how everything in the past has become!”

Mariel opened her eyes wide, “N-No…”

She knelt down, causing a thud. Matt turned around quickly, “Mariel?”

Danny grabbed Mariel’s arms in case she fell over, “What’s wrong, Mariel? Are you okay?”

Mariel shook her head fast and then she closed her eyes. She clenched her teeth while grabbing onto her head, “Edmund is… that place!”

“What are you talking about? What place?” Matt was completely confused now.

Stan turned around from the noise when Mariel knelt down. “Who’s there to interrupt me now? I’m not in the mood.”

Matt turned facing Stan again, “Uh oh!” Stan summoned a long, steel sword and then he slashed down all of the trees surrounding the group of three. All of the trees were sliced right above the height of the three students. As each wood was falling down, the group was becoming more visible.

Stan glared at them, “What are you three doing? Are you trying to stop me or what?”

“Maybe.” Matt replied. “It depends on what you’re going to do in Edmund.”

“I just want some answers. Why were you guys gifted with awesome powers while I had to force my way into getting powers? Why am I not special enough to be gifted with it? Maybe the future has some answers for me!”

“That’s stupid! Having these powers is not being gifted.” Matt remembered many bad incidents that happened in the past. “A friend once told me that my powers were only useful for evil. I questioned that for awhile and maybe he was right. I really want to get rid of these powers.” Matt frowned.

Stan raised his sword, “Show me then. Pretend I am the evil guy and see if your powers work for the good!”

Winny, Yessenia and Santi all teleported into Arkon’s Magic to visit Rena. Usually, Rena would wander around from house to house, cleaning anything that seemed off. Everybody was fond of her helping out. However, at this point in time, something happened. She was not outside this time. The group was wondering where she had gone to. The group searched everywhere and eventually they could hear a scream coming from Matt’s fire house.

At his house, the group barged in and they saw Rena on the floor, screaming. Yessenia ran up to her and held on tight, “Rena, hang in there! Tell us what happened.”

“The force… is too strong!” Rena was shaking uncontrollably.

“Rena is like a spirit. She is no human.” Winny revealed. “Jennifer could sense the essence of those who are not human. This is what I assume.”

“How does that relate?” Yessenia wondered. She helped set Rena on a chair, “Rest here.”

Rena had a cup of water, causing her to speak clearly this time. “Matt is fighting against somebody powerful in the Forest of Emille. That is very strange. I could never sense anything coming from the forest, only from Edmund. Edmund’s power feels a bit contorted as well.”

“Contorted? What do you mean by that?” Santi asked.

“Well, something different must have happened to Edmund.” Rena guessed.

“Wait, earlier you mentioned that Matt was fighting someone strong. If you could suddenly feel the essence of the forest, then what does this all mean?” Yessenia seemed more confused than anybody. It was strange to see that she was the most clueless out of all because Matt, Shirley and Danny were the ones who would never have the most knowledge in the group.

“We should check up on the forest then. Matt could be in danger.” Santi suggested.

“Since when do you care?” Winny joked.

“Since when I accidentally made Jen lose her memory. It is the least I could do.” Santi said while the group listened carefully.

“It cannot be helped.” Yessenia sighed. “I think it is better to check up on him anyway. That kid is always doing unusual things.” She took out her cellphone, ready to teleport into the Forest of Emille.

Stan tried to attack Matt with his sword, “Take this!”

Matt summoned a fire shield but it was not strong enough. Matt fell onto the floor, “Augh! Stan, why are you doing this? I never wanted to fight you in the first place. I don’t even understand why you want these dangerous powers.”

“I thought we were the same? I thought we both wanted fun in our lives. Isn’t that what you told me in middle school?” Stan was angry.

Matt remembered it all now…

Back in the seventh grade, Matt watched Stan throw a penny so that their friends would chase after it. Matt sat down by a tree and he said, “Stanley, this is really boring. Hey, some day, we should go do something extreme!”

Stan shook his head. “You asked for it and now you want to call it off?!”

Matt stood up. “I didn’t mean something that would hurt others.” Matt made fire appear from his hands, “But if that’s how you want things to be, then fine!”

Episode 89 - An Abyss and the Fearful Heart

She slammed a paper down onto the desk in front of Matt, “This is why people don’t eat meat!”

Matt took a look at the pictures that Jennifer presented to him. “What are these?”

“Look closely.”

“I am. No… no wait, YUCK. Is that an eyeball sticking out of the cow’s face?!”

“What do you think it is? Have you also heard about seal clubbing?!”

“Seal clubbing? There’s a club in this school that is all about seals?”

“No, dummy.” Jennifer shook her head in disappointment from Matt’s unawareness. “Seal clubbing is considered a sport in Canada where people have to use a club to attack a lot of seals, as much as possible.”

“Sounds like fun.” Matt joked. Jennifer slapped Matt on the face and Matt yelled, “AGGGH! That hurt! I was only kidding. No duh it’s sad.”

“Then don’t joke about such a thing. These poor baby seals… I might even go vegetarian.” Jennifer said with an angelic tone.

“Then be vegetarian.” Matt suggested without caring about how she was feeling.

“No way! It’s too hard to manage. I’ve tried that already and I gave up.” She took the paper off of Matt’s desk and said, “Time to tell somebody else for the 646^th time. Bye bye!”

Mariel and Danny were in the second half of the Forest of Emille. Mariel wiped her forehead and she frowned. “Why is it so hot out here? Whose idea was it to bring a frickin’ sweater?!”

“Your’s… Mariel.”

Mariel whispered to Danny, “Sh, that doesn’t matter!” She used her water powers to drink water. “Unlimited hydration is awesome. Let’s keep going.”

“What about me?” Danny became sad.

“Do you really trust the water that I make?”

“You drink it.”

“But that’s ME drinking it. You’re fine anyway. Come on, let’s go explore more. If Matt and the others don’t want to adventure through this place and locate the abyss soon, who knows what we will be missing out? After all, Rena is just waiting for us to finish some stupid drama and school work. Poor her. She’s just sitting around in Arkon’s Magic not being able to do anything. I wonder what use she is to this forest?”

The ground began shaking. Danny noticed that the floor was shaking without his doing, “Um Mariel, what’s going on?”

“Don’t you try to scare me.” Mariel believed that Danny was the culprit. “You’re just wanting us to go back into the real world because you’re scared, aren’t you, dude?” She threw a small splash of water against Danny’s face. Danny fell with a shriek.

“Eahh! What was that for?!”

Mariel noticed that the ground was still shaking. “Is your anger uncontrollably shaking the ground or what?”

“I’m telling you it’s not-…!” Danny stopped suddenly once he and Mariel saw a giant green dinosaur appear to the side of them with a loud growl.

Mariel took a step back and then said, “U-Uh… I think now’s the time for us to… run!” While Mariel ran off, she tried shuffling into her pocket for her phone. Danny was left behind but he was able to get up and run. The line of runners, Mariel, Danny, followed by the dinosaur, were making their way down the road towards a pond. Mariel jumped in without trouble as she has water powers. Danny did the same, but his trip was not so easy…

Meanwhile, Peter and Joey are at it again. This time, instead of constantly trying to figure out about powers through their own heads, they are going to hide behind obscured objects in order to sneak up on Matt and his friends.

It was lunch time and Matt was sitting with Santi and Jennifer’s group of friends. Matt did not know any of them that much but luckily there was Amy and Bunhong. Jennifer stared at Matt and Santi who both did not touch their food yet. Jennifer giggled, “I see you two have taken my lesson about consuming animals.”

Matt turned to Santi, “She told you too?”

Santi said nothing. Matt looked away in embarrassment because he was obviously being ignored. Jennifer laughed from the embarrassment and Matt got angry. Jennifer whispered, “Leave him alone. He’s been like that even when I tried talking to him about the food.”

“You should be thankful that you are not this animal.” Santi said without emotion.

Matt, Jennifer, Amy and Bunhong quickly turned to Santi who had finally spoken up. Matt scooted closer to Santi and he raised his eyebrows, “Oh, you agree. So to you, Jennifer is right?”

“Always.” Jennifer said.

Santi passed the plate down to Matt, “The meat that the school serves is an animal that had lost its life before it was able to fulfill whatever it wanted to finish. Be glad, you two, that you two can live for as long as you can. We humans should be grateful that we have this ability.”

Matt scooted away this time and he said to Jennifer, “Oookay…”

Jennifer suddenly stood up, “I gotta go to the restroom. Matt, you come with me.” She dragged Matt away.

“M-Me too?! I’m not a girl!” Matt yelled while being dragged away.

Amy said to Bunhong, “Why are they going to go to the same restroom?” Her question sounded quite innocent.

Bunhong stood onto the table with all of the plates flipping over. “Two heroes make way for a secret conversation I assume! It is time for battle! As for us civilians, we wait for their tactics!”

Mariel and Danny were lost after running off the side of the road. There were a bunch of trees and unbalanced hillsides. Mariel sat down on a broken tree trunk, “I’m so tired of running. Why was that giant grassy dinosaur thing following us? Do we look like food to them?!”

Danny fell on his knees, “I don’t know but it doesn’t make sense for dinosaurs to be here. I thought they were in the prehistoric times from what I learned.”

Mariel took a look around, “There are a bunch of broken trees here. This place sucks. I can’t wait to leave this forest already.”

“Okay let’s leave then! I don’t want to stay here either.” Danny took out his cellphone and Mariel took the phone away.

“No. You brought me here into the forest so now I have to keep you here.~” she mocked him. “We’re not even in danger anymore. If we are at the brink of death, then we should teleport away.”

“But we won’t know when we’ll be in danger.” Danny complained. “The dinosaur can just appear out of nowhere and we won’t be able to run away in time.”

Mariel heard an echo. The ground began shaking. “Let’s hope that’s just an earthquake…”

“But we felt that just a few minutes ago. The same echoes too… Sounds like that grassy dinosaur!”

The dinosaur appeared, breaking the trees that surrounded it. It took a stop and it growled as loud as it could. Mariel jumped in surprise, “No way! How did it find us?!”

“This is that ‘brink of death’ you were talking about, right? Let’s leave now!” Danny grabbed Mariel’s arm and Mariel shook him away.

“No, we should try to beat it down.” Mariel let out her palms, “Maybe if I try something with my water powers, I can finally be useful. Remember, I’m not that kind of girl who stops and gives up!” She splashed water at the dinosaur but it only got angrier. It ran faster and so did Mariel and Danny. With nonstop speed, the dinosaur fell into a large hole right after Mariel and Danny passed through the road.

Danny turned his head while still running, “How did we skip the hole?!”

“The weight of the dinosaur is much more than ours, duh!” Mariel slowed down and she returned to the hole, “I wonder if the dinosaur is still alive? I mean, this is an abyss that we are talking about here.” She and Danny headed back towards the hole.

The edge of the abyss was cracking apart and without any reflex, Danny fell over and then he held onto the ledges. Mariel gasped, “WAH?! D-Danny!” She quickly knelt down to grab his hand but Danny closed his eyes.

“I’m way heavier than you, Mariel!”

“Well then can’t you use your ground powers or something to alter the abyss?”

Danny pointed at the abyss and a large dust beam flowed through Danny’s arm. It aimed towards the abyss hole but nothing was heard but a dinosaur’s murmur. “I guess that didn’t work.”

“You think?!” Mariel panicked. “I’ll call for help.” She took out her cellphone to dial any of her friend’s number.

“Phone connections work in Emille? I didn’t know.”

“THEY DON’T. I forgot. Um, uh… Maybe I can do something with my water powers!” She splashed water on the ground near Danny but it only made his hands slightly more slippery.

Danny said angrily, “Why did you do that for?!”

“Fine, I’ll go find some help then!” She teleported away.

Danny yelled, “Wait, you’re not going to take long, are you?!” There was a silence. “Mariel?” Still more silence. “I’m hungry…”

Mariel appeared back into the real world of El Monte. She ran out of the restroom from where she teleported in and then she tried to call Shirley. Nearby, Alex called for her name. They were at opposite ends of the large gym. Alex walked up to her and Mariel did not know what to say while he was on his way.

“Hi Mariel, why do you look so tired?” Alex asked. Mariel hung up her call.

“Me? Tired? Nah, I was just washing my face.” Mariel said in a rush.

“And you’re breathing pretty fast.” Alex examined her a little more.

Mariel began walking away, “I’m fine.”

“No you’re not. You should take a rest.” Alex suggested.

“And you should leave me alone.” Mariel turned around with annoyance. She crossed her arms, “I am SO tired of you trying to take care of me.”

Alex frowned. “What? But I was only trying to help.”

“Then stop helping me! I’m in a hurry-…” Her phone rang and Shirley’s name was on the caller ID. Mariel quickly ran off, leaving Alex behind.

At a further distance, Mariel spoke to Shirley, “Hey, where are you guys?” Shirley told Mariel that she and Matt were near the math buildings. “Never mind that then. Listen, Danny is in danger and I don’t know how much time we have left.” Because this is important news, Shirley decided to put this on speaker. Mariel continued, “Danny might fall in an abyss if you don’t hurry and help me out.”

At the math building, Shirley could sense someone nearby. “Hm?” She tried to look around her.

Matt continued the conversation with Mariel, “Alright, we’ll both go right now. Just get back to the forest and we’ll look for you!” Mariel agreed and then she hung up.

Matt took out his own cellphone but Shirley stopped him. “Wait, Matt.” She whispered, “Someone is watching us.”

“What?” Matt scratched his head in confusion. “I don’t see anybody. Right now is the perfect time to teleport away.” Matt did not bother to whisper. “Come on, let’s go to the forest right now!” Matt took out his cellphone and then he quickly teleported away into the Forest of Emille.

Shirley jumped, “N-No! You idiot…” From behind a tree, Peter’s eyes were widened in surprise.

Santi, Yessenia, and Mariel were walking towards the auditorium together with Jennifer. Jennifer stood on the front steps, “So guys! Thanks for escorting me here. I thought I was gonna come here all alone, phew. Well, I’m gonna go in the back now to help with stage crew. We need to clean up some props that are still left on stage.”

Yessenia waved, “See you next time.”

Jennifer took more steps upward and then she stopped. “But hold on a minute. Would you guys care to explain to me?”

“About what?” Winny was concerned.

“I am NOT stupid. The last time during Santi’s choir performance was a pretty simple trick, wasn’t it?”

“Trick?” Santi asked innocently.

“I’m not talking about you directly, Santi. It is what Yessenia did, and what Winny played along with.” Jennifer pointed at Yessenia, “You and Shirley were there. Then there were two more girls. Matt was pretty bad at acting like a girl. He forgot the hip movements so he walked like a total man. As for the other girl…”

Yessenia took a step back, “I do not know what you are talking about.”

“You don’t? She had purple hair for crying out loud. You can’t say it is a wig either because I tried pulling on it while you and Shirley were not looking.”

Winny agreed, “That’s true. I saw her do it while I was hiding behind the pillars.”

Yessenia clenched her fists, “And you did not say anything, Winny?!”

“I found it pretty funny.” Winny chuckled. She turned to her giddy self, “Yep yep!”

Santi recognized the description of purple hair. “We have no idea what you are talking about.” He played along as well.

Jennifer closed her eyes and then she shook her head in disappointment, “You all believe that I am stupid. I will be no harm if you can just simply tell me. Even so, I can be more harmful if you don’t tell me. So, now that I caught you all at the right time, will you tell me or not?”

Website 6.1, June 11, 2011

Today, I am featuring Website Version 6.1! It corresponds to May 2008.

Three more days left, yet again, but finishing high school completely after Graduation! Yes! Next Saturday is a Leos and Laurels beach social and will be my last... I will miss all my friends. :(

Anyway, this is a really HUGE update, for me.

My name is Matthew Tran and this is a story titled 'Fires of the Sky'. This was made out of boredom so I don't expect good grammar until later.

This story is about a boy named Matt who enters his first day of high school. However, once he steps in, an incident occurs minutes later behind the large gym of where he sat. As he goes outside, a huge commotion goes on about a fire and Matt tries to save his friend. He trips on a puddle of oil. Unfortunately, he faints from the harsh slipping that he had experienced. As he wakes up, he mentions the fire but his friends say none of that happened. As time goes by, Matt will experience his own powers, along with new friends who will have the same problem. What will Matt have to do?"

Amy Chieng

Characteristics - Amy appears as a very petit and shy girl in the story. Let alone, she is also very kind to those around her, possibly causing her to obtain not a single enemy. She is seen as Jen's friend during PE.

Amy is one of the very few characters where nobody would bother hurting her. They treat her kindly due to her physique and kindness.

Jeanette Phung and Amy both became friends really quick, said as an early friendship in the beginning of high school. They began to take Geometry Accelerated together which made them even closer friends. It is unknown on what other similarities that they have. Amy is also shown with Bunhong Av in most of her appearances early on. She is also passionate to have friends such as Jenny Tran, Shirl Ma, and Matthew Tran.

Episode 88: Memory Loss?! I Don't Remember You!

Episode 88 - Memory Loss?! I Don't Remember You!

It was another day in May yet again. Even after the performance, everything went as safe as can be. However, there was one thing that was still in Matt’s mind and that was the fact that Jen’s memory is still lost. He quickly dressed up for his Physical Education class so that he could have a talk with her. Days since after Jen lost her memory, she was able to focus on her academics. Whatever she learned, she was able to pick up. Her memory on people, however, was almost completely lost.

During PE, Matt tried to look for Jen but her teacher said that she was excused for the guidance office. Matt tried to look for somebody who was closest to her and that happened to be Amy Chieng, who was once shown before with a student filled with heroism. Her voice was kind and soft. She waved, smiled, and spoke up, “Hi Matt. How was your morning?”

“Great. Anyways, do you know why Jen is in the guidance office?” Matt shrugged away her friendly question.

“I think so. She said that her parents want to have a talk with her counselor. I’m also worried too. Jen doesn’t remember some of the things that we learned for Geometry but she learned pretty fast. She almost forgot my name for some reason but I bet she was joking, hopefully… right?”

Matt felt guilty. He knew exactly what happened to Jen but he did not want to tell her about the setting of Arkon’s Magic. If he had told her everything, then it would be difficult to control his fire powers just like what happened when Matt and Shirley told Sammy.

There was a crowd nearby the large gym. Matt and Amy’s conversation was interrupted by a loud, deep yell. They turned to the crowd and Matt quickly changed the subject, “Uh anyways, what’s going on over there?”

Amy pointed at the student atop the bleachers, “Bunhong is there. Remember him?”

Matt remembered what happened the last time he spoke to Bunhong. “That guy again? The one who always never answered my questions and instead, said something randomly heroic?”

“Sure, that guy.”

“What is he doing now?” Matt wondered.

“I think he was talking about some strange things going on with certain people. He wasn’t clear when he said it. Like you said, he didn’t really answer questions directly. I also wonder what he was talking about. Let’s go over there and listen.” Amy said happily.

Matt was curious about what Bunhong was talking about. To Matt’s sense, it seems as though Bunhong is taking suspicion over Matt’s fire powers, and his friends’ powers as well.

Matt arrived at the bleachers with Amy. It seemed to be crowded with a bunch of brainless students. Matt turned around and said to Amy, “Hey, should we get closer to the front? I can’t understand him with all the talking.” Amy looked worried. Matt said to her, “Alright, I’ll be really quick, okay?” Matt turned back to Bunhong and thought in his mind, “What he said just now about suspicious powers… I surely hope that’s not me.”

“Alas, my fellow students! Behind the powers that I obtained!” He put his hands together and made a cup-like shape around his lips. Matt opened his eyes wide, wondering what Bunhong was about to do. Fire began to blast out of his mouth and Matt’s jaw dropped in surprise.

“Are you serious?!” Shirley’s voice was heard from nearby.

“This is ridiculous. There is no way that Bunhong has such thing.” Said Santi who was right next to her.

Matt saw the two of them watching. Matt scooted his way closer to the front nearby Shirley and Santi, “D-Did you guys see that?”

“No duh! That Bunhong guy has the exact same powers as you do, only it looks cooler.” Shirley joked while being serious.

“That’s not the point!” Matt said in fear. “He’s revealing his fire powers just like that. Don’t you guys realize that this can affect him? What if his powers become uncontrollable just like what happened with you and me back in January? Don’t forget about Sammy!” Matt said to Shirley.

Shirley crossed her arms, “Yeah, I guess you’re right… Maybe we should have a talk with Bunhong. He’s been doing all these martial arts stuff this whole school year and nobody knows what’s going on in his mind, but I guess now’s the time to find out.”

“Besides,” Santi added, “I doubt he can use such powers. I would be very disappointed to find out that more than one person can have the same power. It would be much more dull, would you agree?”

Matt clenched his fists, “That doesn’t matter. Let’s stop him right now before he makes it even worse for himself.” Matt grabbed onto both Shirley’s and Santi’s arms on each of Matt’s hands and the three of them hurriedly made their way to the top of the bleachers.

“And, thus, to this day, my fellow beings, I-eeyaaah!” Matt grabbed onto Bunhong’s hood and he was dragged down the bleachers. At the bottom of the bleachers, Bunhong yelled loudly, “Hey boy, what’s the big idea?!”

Shirley scratched her head, “Boy?”

Matt went on, “Why are you telling everybody that you can breathe fire? It’s dangerous to expose yourself for being abnormal. We’re all just the same as you and we could be at risk!”

Shirley and Santi made a surprised face. Bunhong gasped, “Oh my! So you are all just like me!”

Santi whispered, “Remember, we do not even know if Bunhong really does have powers.”

“Oh shoot… but he made it clear with the fire breathing!” Matt whispered and at the same time, saying it angrily.

“Everyone, everyone listen!” Amy’s voice could be heard from the distance. She kindly quivered her way through the crowd and she arrived towards Matt and the others. “Hi, Jen is sitting down in the back. She told me that she has to repeat all her classes again because she could only remember about half of the lessons.”

“Is this woman for real? Does she have a learning disorder of some sort?!” Bunhong exclaimed.

“Hey, don’t talk about her like that!” Matt said quickly.

Amy gave a suggestion, “I was thinking if we could help her. I don’t know what’s going on with her though… Why didn’t she get taken to the doctors?”

Matt decided to have a talk with Jen. “Let’s go ask her.”

Towards the end of the crowd, Jen was sitting down, playing with a small branch. “What is this toy?” Jen asked without any expression.

Matt sat down and he said, “Hey Jen, have you gone to the doctors for any reason yet?”

“Any reason? MY mom got scared of my attitude lately. She said there is something wrong with me because I usually argue with her everyday. But, why would I do such a cruel thing? I love my mom. Still, she sent me to the doctors for some reason and they said that I have a memory loss disorder and that they don’t know where it came from. It is an unknown disease that scientists have discovered.”

Shirley joked, “I bet a few ordinary students can figure it out better than a couple of mad scientists.”

Matt glared at her. He spoke to Jen, “There’s nothing wrong with you. We’ll convince your teachers to not make you repeat your classes. You’re doing so good aren’t you?”

“Well.” Santi corrected his grammar. Shirley gave a soft giggle.

“Oh would you two just-… Anyway, maybe we can figure it out for you.”

Jen took her bags and she smiled, “Thank you, boy-I-don’t-know.” She walked away in silence right after.

Matt took a step back and he began shaking, “She didn’t even… remember me.”

Amy looked up at all of them since she was not so tall. “How are you all certain that she will be back to normal?”

Shirley glared back at Matt, “Yeah Matt, how ARE you certain? Even I’m not certain!”

“Don’t worry. I’ll try to think of a way. For all we know, we can’t have Santi use his powers again. That would be bad.” Matt suggested. “Just give me some time.”

“I’m telling you, I saw some random girl in Arkon’s Magic so I just ran off!” yelled Mariel.

She was walking with Danny down the narrow dirt path. Danny took out his cellphone, “That is really weird. Maybe we should check again?”

“No, I’m not going back there. She could be a ghost for all I know. It’s too risky to go back now so we should wait for somebody else to go in there. You know, like a guinea pig. We don’t know what will happen to them. Oh- Actually~ hey, let’s go check it out.”

“Aw but you clearly said not to.” Danny frowned.

Mariel took out her cellphone, “Yes, but now I say we should go. Ready? Press your ‘Arkon’s Magic’ button and we’ll be on our way!” She stood still, waiting for him. Danny stared at her and Mariel stared at him back, “…Well?”

“You want me to check it out first don’t you?”

“What? Pfft!” Her voice cracked, “I wouldn’t do such a thing, Danny. Now come on, let’s go. Go, go, go!” Mariel grabbed Danny’s finger and she used it to press his cellphone. Danny tried to fight back but Mariel was too quick. Without thinking, it turned out that Mariel teleported along with him because she kept in contact with Danny when he pressed the teleport button.

Matt, Shirley, and Santi were seen talking to Rena nearby Shirley’s Arkonic home. Rena had a worried expression mostly because she could not find a way to help Jen. Their next destination was the second half of the forest. Mariel and Danny appeared from afar and they could see their three friends talking to the mysterious woman. Mariel pointed at yelled, “AHHH! They’re-…” From Matt’s view, all he could see was Mariel pointing and opening her mouth rambling on words that he could not hear clearly enough.

Matt waved back, “I think she’s happy to see us.” The group decided to wave back.

Mariel closed her eyes. “Oh, I can’t watch! They’re already possessed by that girl and now they don’t even know what they’re doing. Come on Danny, let’s fight them from here.” She summed a stream of water and Danny did not do a thing.

Danny was shaking, “B-But what if they fight back and kill us?”

“People like us shouldn’t hold back. We got these powers for a reason and I’m going to make good use of it.”

Shirley said peacefully, “Oooh they’re making a show for us.”

Santi took a step back, “Hold on, I do not think they are just doing that for fun.” A large stream of water suddenly rushed towards them and Santi stood in front of Matt, Shirley, and Rena with his palms put together. Matt pushed Santi down and he used his fire powers to deflect the water. However, both Matt and Santi fell over from the strong push of water.

Matt coughed, “Augh… you shouldn’t try to use your time powers again.”

“Sorry, it was an impulse to do so.” Santi apologized.

Shirley yawned, “You aren’t so bright either, Matt. Clearly your fire powers had no effect. I should have used my ice powers to freeze it down.”

Matt yelled at her, “THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU DO THAT?!” Shirley was surprised from his anger, so she looked away.

Eventually, Mariel and Danny came closer. Mariel had her hands on her hips, “What’s going on here?!”

Shirley crossed her arms, “Hey we should be asking that.”

Rena giggled, “Hmhm, what a funny crowd. Hi, my name is Rena.”

Mariel hid behind Danny, “There she is Danny, kill her!”

Matt and Shirley ran in front of Rena. Santi spoke up, “She is harmless. She is just helping us continue onward with the Forest of Emille.”

“Oh.” Mariel said bluntly. There was a silence for about three seconds and Mariel suddenly giggled, “Eheheh, that’s my bad. So then um, what’s next in the forest?”

Rena tried to remember what she had gone through from the past. “There was an abyss in between the ruin exit and to the end of the forest. I don’t remember where exactly. We just have to be cautious.”

Shirley sat down on an ice bench, “Argh… if only Santi still had his time powers so that he could stop us from falling if we go down deep into nowhere.” She turned to Santi, “You’re pretty useless now!”

Santi’s expression showed seriousness. At this point, it has become an insult. Shirley noticed him carefully, so she stopped. Rena continued the subject. “Can anyone else use their powers to find out the location of the abyss?”

Danny raised his hand, “This abyss thing… it has to do with a bottomless pit right? Maybe I can try to do something about it. If I lower the ground level anywhere, we could figure out the spot where the hole is.”

Rena shook her head, “Ah, that sounds like a plan. Do you think we should go at this moment?”

Matt interrupted then, “W-Wait. I’m still a little iffy about Jen’s situation. I have to go back and check up on her. Also, we can’t just let Bunhong roam around, revealing his fire-breathing powers, right?”

Santi sighed. “I already said… Ah, never mind. Do what you want. We can wait for you.”
