Episode 121 - The Armadino Takes Initiative, Run with the Truck!

Hey, do you miss me?! That’s right, Nix is here for you! Today, we will talk about the ‘uncontrollable’. There are so many problems about this in the world of powers! First of all, Matt and his friends experienced uncontrollability with their powers because they were new to it. It would take a full month to get used to it! Any unintentional exploitation would be bad. Not only that, but telling someone who does not even have powers would be dangerous. It is okay for those people, such as Peter and Jennifer, to find out about the powers as long as the power users themselves don’t tell. Sammy for example, knew because Matt and Shirley told her. As a consequence, the two students had temporary uncontrollable powers until Sammy left El Monte High School!
Episode 121 – The Armadino Takes Initiative, Run with the Truck!

            The camp was still as lively as ever, not how it should be however. There were a bunch of trucks trying their best to load in as many peasants possible. Some were hesitant in going but seeing as the horses were uncontrollable, the peasants would rather hop on in and join the bandwagon. Venus simply ran through most of the crowd. Only soldiers took notice of her, so they followed. Alex was a few meters behind while trying his best to catch up to Venus.
            Two soldiers arrived in front of Venus. Their title tags were on their left chest. Venus examined it carefully. “CORP soldiers? What are those?”
            The two CORP soldiers pointed their handguns at Venus. One called out, “Freeze! You are to remain hold!”
            Venus had her whip in her hand. “Try me!”
            Alex yelled at her, “What are you doing?!” He eventually caught up right behind Venus.
            The other CORP soldier flinched. “Heh? She’s not afraid.” He aimed at her legs, “You seem injured.”
            She was still able to run but not for long. The pain was growing while she was standing still. She took a few steps back in order to deplete the pain which worked somewhat well for her. Venus whipped one of the horses. “Sorry horse, but this is for… my own good! Hehe.” The horse next to her made a shrill cry and Venus ran towards the two CORP soldiers. The soldiers did not know who to shoot, so they only panicked. Venus slide between the soldiers and the horse stampeded over them. Venus turned around and saw that the horse was calming down after it got its revenge on the wrong target. “Score!”
            She continued to go through the crowd with Alex still following her. While running, Alex made a comment. “I’ll keep staying behind you. I don’t have anything to fight with.”
            “How about that weird book you keep holding? You can hit people with it!” Venus responded.
            “Are you crazy? It’s special!”
            “What’s more important? The book or your life? Just do it!”
            “And how am I supposed to fight with a book?”
            “You saw the lieutenant fight Matt back then, right? The lieutenant taught Matt how to attack and defend and stuff. I’m sure it’s not so hard. Hehe!”
            This time, three CORP soldiers appeared in front of them. They were holding onto batons instead. Alex paused for a moment. “Why are they holding onto those instead of guns?”
            “I don’t know, let’s ask them.” Venus said. Alex tried to shut her up but Venus yelled out loud really quick, “Hey why are you not using guns?!”
            A fourth soldier came from the crowd and spoke to his companions, “We’re out of ammo as well, sir!” A horse accidentally stampeded over him right away.
            Alex and Venus stared with a blank face. “Well, guess that answers everything.” Venus said bluntly. “Come on, Alex!” The three CORP soldiers began running towards Alex and Venus. Venus’s whip was quite long, so she attacked from a further range. Alex had to pause and defend each time the CORP soldiers tried to attack him. Each time Venus and Alex attacked, they needed to catch their breath. They were already tired from all of that running, let alone Venus’s injury acting up again.
            The third CORP soldier from behind made a strange movement. He rose up his baton which made his move unpredictable. “Break! Haha!”
            Venus’s body felt weakened. The other two soldiers began to attack her. This was the perfect chance to knock them out with a book. Alex took out his Grimoire book and then he smashed each of the CORP soldiers’ heads. They all fainted and Venus was on the ground in pain.
            Alex tried to grab her arm, “We have to keep going!”
            Venus closed her eyes. “Awrh…” She smiled still. “I’m not giving up yet!” She stood up and continued running. She slightly limped her way through the rest of the crowd. Very large trucks appeared near the gate exits of West Bridge. Venus and Alex stopped for a moment to see what was going on. A large blanket was taken off from the truck and the two teenagers could see a large machine within a cage. It was twice the size of the teenagers. The gate opened and the machine appeared.
            A CORP soldier yelled out, “Behold, the Armadino! And there is more where that came from.” More large trucks appeared from behind the first.
            Venus covered her mouth, gasping from surprise. “Oh geez, more?!”
            Alex’s legs were shaking nonstop. “Th-th-th-th-they are huge!”
            Venus readied her whip. “Alrighty then, we can take a smack at it!”
            “Are you crazy?! Just look at it. We have no chance!”
            “Not if you try!” Venus giggled. The other Armadino machines were rolling towards other targets such as the horses, the soldiers and the remaining peasants. One Armadino in particular focused on both Venus and Alex.
            Venus decided to go first and attack the Armadino since the machine was rather slow in motion. She whipped the machine and it zapped. “Alright! We have an advantage!”
            Alex ran behind the machine and he whacked it with his book. The Armadino turned around and punched Alex with an electroshock. Alex yelled in pain while falling to the ground. Venus whipped the machine and the monster electrocuted again. The Armadino faced Venus this time and it plugged both its machinery arms together. Venus was about to defend but she accidentally tripped. The slow Armadino threw a large beam straight ahead but it missed due to Venus’s fall. Alex slowly returned to his stance and he attacked the Armadino. The Armadino turned around but Venus whipped the machine. Another electroshock appeared and it began malfunctioning.
            Venus jumped in pride. “Woohoo! We did it!” The Armadino shut off completely. Venus pointed at the large, now empty truck. “Hey Alex, follow me. We’re going to take one of those!”
            She ran towards the truck and on the way, dragging Alex along the way. Alex groaned in pain. “AUGH! That burns!!”
            “You’ve been doing that to me ever since we left the factory. Get over it!” She dragged him onto the passenger’s seat and she took the driver’s seat. Plentiful of guards yelled at her but Venus ignored them. “Hehe. So… um, how do we drive this thing? Do you know how to drive?”
            “Not really. This isn’t such a good idea!”
            Venus saw the gas pedal and then the steering wheel, “This can’t be hard. It’s like how you guys stay home all day playing video games. One pedal is to go forward and the wheel is to obviously turn.”
            “I think there’s more to it, Venus!”
            Venus pressed on the gas as hard as she could, “Ah well! We’re going!” The truck moved faster and she almost crashed into a few guards and of course, a few walls. She hit the corner of a wall by accident. “How do you reverse?!” Alex only screamed constantly.
            Instead of reversing, Venus decided to drive on forward, scraping the upper left corner of the truck. With the help of the wheel, she was able to make a turn and pass through the narrow road next to the other large trucks. The drivers on the other trucks only watched her drive past by them since they were just drivers. They were not able to do anything else. Venus drove past many trucks and bumpy roads and she screamed with enjoyment. Her voice sounded bumpy due to the roads as well. On the other hand, Alex screamed in fear.
            After reaching a disproportionate road, the truck fell forward and the bumper was scratched. It eventually fell off and it flew under the truck, hitting the front wheels. The wheels became unconditional and it broke up. The truck was no longer supportive and it was going haywire for Venus and Alex. Not knowing where they were going next, the truck began to slide sideways and both the teenagers closed their eyes. Either they were to end it from the crash or they would have to be lucky to survive through the fall. To make matters worse, the sliding truck even slid towards a large tree. This seemed to be the end…
~~~
             The area was quite dark. The sky’s atmosphere contained more smoke than any of its surroundings such as West Bridge to the west and Enheizer to the east. Evidentially, the whole area was made to be the junkyard and the remains of unneeded material coming from Enheizer and sometimes from the West Bridge if there were any extra materials from the concentration camps. The sun was setting but it was still hard to see the sunlight through all of the debris. A wolf howled for the upcoming moonlight and crickets sang their songs as the day was breaking. Both teenagers, Alex and Venus, were left stranded between large piles of rust. Behind them was the only way out which was blocked by the large truck that they had previously drove.
            “Oh… where are we?” Venus sat up with her knees. She saw Alex still on the ground but he was moving, shaking to be specific.
            “That was the worst experience I have ever and will ever go through…” He commented.
            “Hey, get up. Look at where we are!” She was amused already by the ugly junkyard. All of the leftover pieces surrounding them were about thirty feet high. Venus took sight of a board that pointed inward from the walls of nonsense. “Maybe if we can climb up that thing over there.” She pointed at the board which was under another, more narrow board. “It says ‘climb me’ all over!”
            “Aw no, no way. I am not climbing over that!”
            “Why not? This could be a fun experience.” She tried to climb one of the boards on the bottom but she was struggling often.
            “Can you not move your butt like that!? This isn’t some place where you can hook-up!”
            “I’m not moving anything! Blame these boards!” She climbed faster all of the sudden. Alex feared that he would fall off the first board immediately.
            “Geeh… I don’t like the look of this!” Luckily, the climbing was easier than it looked. Alex was right behind Venus.
            At the top, the large piles were like hills leading back down. Venus passionately skipped her way down the hilly junkyard while Alex tried to walk normally but he was only slipping constantly. He could not keep his balance, so he practically ran down with an awkward motion. At the bottom, Venus jumped onto the ground peacefully but Alex fell on his face. Venus patted her peasant coat. “Hm… this place is so dirty.”
            “How did you get down here easily…?” He said in sadness.
            Venus ignored his comment as usual. She took out her whip. “I don’t think it’s safe here. Let’s prepare ourselves. Well, I don’t know what you can do with a book but good luck!” They were given a long but narrow road up ahead, but there was a large circle area surrounding a broken-old willow tree. “Come on, we should rest over there! You seem tired anyway.”
            Alex was hugging his book while crying. “I can’t believe there is actually life on this junkyard! Oh thank the lord.” He headed towards the tree as fast as he could before Venus.
            “Ah- Now you’re fast? Oh well.” She took her time to get under the willowy tree.
            They both sat down next to each other. Alex reached into his pockets. “Venus…”
            “Hm?” She responded.
            “Are we stuck here forever?” Alex reached out of his pockets with nothing in his hand. “We don’t even have our cellphones. The guards of Wisteria took them from us. They took almost everything but my book.”
            Venus crossed her arms, thinking. “That’s strange though… I mean it would make more sense that a cellphone is more valuable than a book, but as security guards, they should have taken both. We were supposed to be left empty-handed if we were to enter the concentration camp as peasants.”
            Alex grabbed onto his book as tight as he could. “I remember the first time I saw this book. It is like no other ordinary book.”
            “What’s so special about it anyway?”
            “This Grimoire book… It has a lot of potential. The cover page looked kind of strange so I decided to open it up. The pages were worn out but most of them still had some sparkles.”
            “Ooooh I didn’t know you liked sparkly things, Alex! I thought only girls liked them.”
            “THAT’S NOT MY POINT, STUPID!!” He burst into anger. “This book contains some strange power. I want to find the author too but the name was scratched out.”
            “Hm, well okay then…”
            “And Venus, how did you even get here? It was surprising to see you at Wisteria.”
            “I don’t know. I just appeared in Wisteria and yeah, weird things. You know the usual. I still think we have hope with us. We can escape this world together and go back home.”
            “How would you know? We don’t even know who has our cellphones anymore!”
            Venus began to rest against the trees. “Well, whatever happens, we’ll just have to try our best to deal with the problem. For right now, let’s just rest. I’m a bit tired…” Without a care in the world, Venus closed her eyes and rested.
Yessenia: What a beautiful place this is.
Yessenia: What a little girl. Here, use this. Catch! [Throws weapon]
Matt: EUH?!?!?! [Barely avoids the throw] That thing has two pointy ends!! You trying to kill me?!
Yessenia: Yes. Now stop whining and let us continue walking through this junkyard.
Matt: Geh… Next time on episode 122, Regained Feelings, Matt is in Complete Hopelessness!!
Yessenia: You got that right, sister.
