On the
last arc, all of the El Monte students rejoiced to participate in the Sunlit Mayhem
in order to return home. This is their last chance before it is too late.
However, as the battles kept rolling along, the El Monte students fight that
their scores have been entirely lower than expected, and students like Yessenia
and Jennifer suspected a lot from Spokesman Gerald. Aside from this, Winny,
Jaime, and Omar went on a detour to stop the second-to-last cradle and they
surprisingly found Tony trying to fix it himself. After all of the history of
Elsiya was concluded, students like Shirley and Peter had to say goodbye to
Echoville’s group and Elsiya’s tigerman tribe. Now, the El Monte students
return to Earth only to find it still frozen up!
Episode 215 – The Perky, Wooden Bridge – Entering the
Mist
“You idiot! You should have left
those bastards back in Elsiya!” Shirley began slapping William on the face
several times. “Johan and Ghoul are bad people!”
“What a great way to start things
off now that we’re back.” William said sarcastically.
“At least we know that we’re not the
last ones that every other school was waiting for.” Winny said in a calm
manner. “Strange now that you think about it. If Earth is frozen, doesn’t that
mean the students in every other school are frozen as well?”
Michael appeared from within the
crowd of students. He began to trace back his memories of the Elemental
Challenges from Class of 2009. “The students in every school are very
challenging. Some of them take the time to train more in Arkon’s Magic because
they love their powers so much. I’m pretty sure a few students from each school
must have practiced in Arkon’s Magic while Earth was freezing up.”
“Are you saying we’re the only ones
who actually don’t take the time to enjoy our powers as much as they do?” Van
pouted. “Hmph. If I would have known sooner, I would have been one of them! I
love cute little animals.”
“I don’t think summoning wolves to
kill others is a method of loving animals.” Alex said in the corner of the
crowd.
Jaime shrugged. “Eh. There’s no
point in getting worked up anyway. That’s just too much work.” He sighed with
his lazy attitude. “Let’s just make ourselves at home until something happens.
If we were supposedly sent here ‘urgently’, then I’m sure something will happen
soon.” The group agreed with his idea.

Several minutes later, Matt and Jen
finished bonding with each other. He began to walk away towards his home until
he saw Yessenia pondering in her own front yard. Before Matt could walk towards
her, Alex appeared in place of Mariel’s home.
“Hey Matt! Mariel has such an awesome
house. I’m trying to keep it extra clean for her.”
Matt ignored Alex, still wondering
why Yessenia is still acting a little worked up with the Elemental Challenges.
“Hm, you know… Ever since we got here, some of us have been feeling a little
nervous about things. Is it the challenges?”
“Beats me- Eh?!” Alex suddenly
stopped.
Yessenia was already behind Matt.
“Are you talking about me?”
“Geh- N-No, I wasn’t.” Matt lied.
“I guess that is fine.” She
admitted. “The Elemental Challenges is bothering me. The other students must
have trained a lot, most of them probably stronger than me.”
Matt and Alex began chuckling on
their own. Matt coughed. “She knows she’s one of the strongest.” He whispered
to Alex. Alex shook his head.
Yessenia began raising her fists,
“And if they all defeat someone like me, all of you will become useless! I will
fight! I will make sure they suffer so that we will take the winning prize of
keeping our powers! Throwing our powers away will be regarded for the future
after the challenges. It is a goal we must take.”
“Sigh…” Matt said. “You know what?
We need to start choosing our group of six.”
“And it needs to be the strongest.”
Alex added.
In an interruption, Venus called out
to the three of them, “Oh my gosh! Something is over at the bridge!”
“We have a bridge?!” Matt yelped.
Yessenia rushed on over. No other
students heard except Michael and Shirley. Alex and Matt followed along. Venus
and Jaime were running together towards the bridge and they saw Winny right in
front of it.
The group of seven excluding Shirley
were standing at the edge of the bridge now. Matt said to them, “I ain’t
climbing that,” in a sassy tone.
“No one is climbing anything. This
could be some kind of mix-up made by the other schools.” Yessenia took out her
long sword. “A trap, precisely.” She pointed at the wooden bridge and nothing
was happening.
“You were saying?” Jaime began
laughing. He was the only person who dared to laugh at Yessenia and
surprisingly, she did not fight back when it came to him.
Winny turned to the group, “What
just happened anyway?”
“What do you mean ‘what just
happened’? You were standing right here before any of us!” Alex shouted. “You
did something huh!”
Venus interrupted them, “No, I’m
sure Winny didn’t. That doesn’t matter though. What’s more important is that
there is a random bridge that leads to who-knows-where.”
Michael turned away. “Alright, this
seems like a progress towards the Elemental Challenge. I should alert the
others and we can choose Class of 2011’s six best students!” The group watched
him run off.
Matt, Yessenia, Alex, Venus, Jaime,
and Winny were still restlessly watching the wooden bridge that seemed to not
be there before. Alex scanned the ocean below the bridge. “Hm… We can’t see
what’s ahead of us. It’s just the plain sea, and up ahead is fog. Basically, we
can’t really see what’s up ahead but this bridge must lead to somewhere if it’s
still being held up.”
“I like how we live near the edge of
a high platform of this whole continent.” Winny commented.
Venus began to rush past the bridge
on her own. “Well, if there is a bridge, there’s no other choice but to go on!”
Alex tried to stop her. “Venus,
wait! Ugh, this is just like the times when she barged out of the concentration
camp and then towards the hideout in Enheizer.”
Yessenia became confused. “She
barges in to that kind of dangerous stuff? When I was in adventures with her
throughout the Druskane Continent, she was extra cautious.”
“Maybe you didn’t focus on her
enough.” Alex said. “Anyway, there she goes. We haven’t even chosen out six
challengers yet…”
“I’m a little iffy about having
Venus as being one of them but it looks too late.” Matt said in disappointment.
“Yessenia has to go!”
Venus waved from the other side.
“We’re not in the challenges yet since nothing is happening over here! Just
come on over already so we can find out what this bridge was for!” Venus
disappeared into the fog.
Matt began to shiver. “I kind of
don’t like the cold here.”
Winny suddenly hugged him as she
said with her giddy split personality, “You’re right about that!”
“Get over your fire powers and let
us go.” Yessenia commanded. “If anything happens, I will use my wind powers to
help us back up. Or, Alex can control the water so that it does not play around
with our little travel to the other side.”
“Good point, ehe…” Matt said softly.
Shirley was too afraid to cross. She
was hiding behind the bushes, watching them disappear into the mist.

Entering the mist, the group could
hear footsteps. It was no ordinary sound of footsteps, however. There was armor
rustling around, including the sound of heels and a small bit of sneering and
chuckling. Venus was in the front of the group.
“This sounds a little…” Venus slowed
down until the mist suddenly flew away. The whole group guarded with their arms
as they closed their eyes to protect from any debris.
After the mist dispersed, the whole
group opened their eyes. In front of them was the utmost disturbing sight. A
tall building rested in the background with twenty-four other students standing
around. There were four groups divided with six students in each one of them.
They were standing in a circular formation with the El Monte students
completing the circle formation.
Alex’s jaw dropped from the
surprise. “W-W-W-W-What the hell is this?!”
“Heeh! Watch the language, young
man!” said a woman with flashy makeup and braided, light-blue hair.
Jaime examined her carefully.
“She’s… Layla, from South El Monte!”
Johan and Ghoul waved at them. Johan
began laughing hysterically, “Bahahah! We’re back!”
“I knew we should have left those
losers back in Elsiya! They came back to haunt us, didn’t they?!” Matt clenched
onto his collared shirt in frustration.
“Mwah! A fabulous reunion, this is!”
Ghoul added. McLargo, a student from the Potrero student’s past, also appeared
beside Layla. McLargo was darker-skinned with a bald head (except his green mohawk) and a built body. He
only wore a muscle shirt for his upper body. There were two more students in
their group. Porter, a shorter, but nerdy boy with buck-teeth and chinky-eyed
glasses stood proudly. Next to him was a boy in a slight dog costume named Obrin. He was light-skinned and his he had a cap with bright yellow painted eyes. He smiled, but his canines were frightening.
“They have more in their nest, I
see.” Yessenia commented.
“So they’re our biggest target,
huh.” Winny said while holding on to her Changmin ball. “Changmin and I will
never lose to the likes of them.”
“Don’t worry! We’re not your worst,
but you’re definitely our first target, El Monte scum!” Johan threatened.
“What does he mean?” Matt asked his
friends.
“Us!” A boy appeared while hugging a
girl. They were about average height of five-foot-five.
“Oh!~ Romeo! You sure know how to
make an entrance! So romantic!” the girl said. Her brown, majestic hair flown
in the wind with sparkles all over her.
“You got that right, Juliet!” Romeo
said with the same outfit taken straight from the play, Romeo & Juliet.
Alex pointed at them, “The hell kind
of entrance was that?!”
“What is up with their names
anyway?” Venus questioned.
Dracula, a long-nosed purple skinned
man appeared along with West, a western-looking snobbish cowboy. A fifth man
appeared from behind. “The name’s Keith. We won’t take you lightly.” Completing
this group was a sixth person who had a hood on.
Porter jumped up. “Where is the
Arroyo group?! They’re late!”
“I see them now.” McLargo said in a whimpering voice.
“It’s been a long while, Alex!” said
a girl.
Alex screamed. “Eeh?! It’s Emmy from
my middle school, Madrid!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. Where’s
Shirley?!” squawked Emmy. “Best friends must meet each other in these kinds of
things!”
“Eheh… Apparently, she’s not here.”
Alex frowned.
Sith was next to them. He is a
strange man who crouched down on all fours to walk. Gina, a farmer-looking
girl, and Raven, a tall emo-looking man with spiked hair and piercings all over
his eyebrows and ears stood in the group. There was also Pochi, an actual frog
animal. Matt pointed at it, “Can you really bring in animals not from your
school?!”
“Of course. We checked the rules.”
Another girl appeared. She was tall and she no longer had glasses from what Matt remembered. Her white and green
dress reached down to her shoes. “Long time no see, Matt.” The girl’s name was
Irene.
“AHH! These are weird surprises!
What’s next? Sammy comes back or something?” He joked.
“Hmhm!~ Matt! You got that right! It
has been a VERY long while!” a familiar voice was heard. “Remember the box of
chocolates I tried to give you?” The Rosemead students began emerging.
Matt could see the tall teenage girl
appear with her curly, long hair and teal magician outfit. “Hey, aren’t you…?!”
“Sammy! Yes, it’s me, Sammy!” She
said proudly. Matt’s heart skipped a beat from utter surprise.
“But… HOW?!”
“I left – to Rosemead… and I ended
up finding our old friends, Tommy and Siyun.” She pointed at the two students
next to her. Siyun, a short-haired Chinese girl appeared in a warrior outfit
while Tommy, who was once mentioned back in freshman year, made his
re-appearance, but this time, much more determined to win compared to before.
Sammy went on, “They led me to the depths of magic. Our three other strong
members are Merlin, Benny, and um… whoever this guy is. I’m not close to the
third one.”
Merlin, a skinny magician with a
pointy hat, sighed. “Ugh. He never wants to show himself.”
“He calls himself McLovin though. I
don’t know why.” Said Benny.
Venus suddenly fell to the ground.
“Wait… Wait a minute… THE Ben?”
Benny noticed Venus was standing in
the front of El Monte’s group. “Pink hair… small, blue eyes… Freckles… Short
height… You must be that girl.”
Venus began shaking. She thought in
her mind as she put her shivering hands over her mouth, “Ben – the boy I
indirectly killed in middle school?” Tears began running down her eyes. “I
can’t believe it. How is he alive?!”
Benny waved at her with a smile.
“Long time no see, Venus!”
Venus took a step back. “W-What?
You’re not mad at me?”
“Why would I? I’m standing here,
proud and happy. Haha!” Benny said with a friendly smile.
Yessenia examined the group of
students. “Five times six, there should be thirty of us here-…”
“Don’t worry, I counted.” Merlin
said quickly.
“Wow, you kept track at how many of
us were here? So smart for a blind man, Merlin!” Siyun complimented him.
“Er… He easily guessed that there
are thirty of us here while being blind.” Alex wondered.
Yessenia glared at them, “Hm,
Something is definitely wrong here…”

Matt:
On the next episode of Fires of the Sky…
Venus:
Oops… It looks like we accidentally entered the Elemental Challenges with six
convenient El Monte students.
Alex: We’re
not even prepared! We’re so weak! We’re going to lose for sure!
Yessenia: We should not panic. That is the first step to losing. We
will just have to embrace it and beat them all.
Shirley: That’s what happens when you leave me behind! I’ll find my
way in!
Winny:
Oh my… It looks like I have to fight a western guy. This sounds interesting.
Matt:
More middle school friends are appearing! This is great. It’s just like the
past all over again!
Alex:
Stop thinking this is great! That Gina girl is picking on me and me only.
Winny:
Changmin Ball does not like this!
Jaime:
Am I doing nothing this round?
Matt:
The truth is… I think we are already losing. Egh… Next time on episode 216, The
First Stage is Height, Winny Versus West!!
Jaime:
So where is this height we are looking for?
Alex:
We don’t even know where that is?!
