Recently
on Fires of the sky, the El Monte students returned to Earth only to find it
still frozen. As they return to Arkon’s Magic, the six main students, Matt,
Yessenia, Jaime, Alex, Venus, and Winny all enter a bridge that leads them to
the Elemental Challenges! Without further delay, they were forced to attend as
the six members for the challenges. After the challenge had finished, the final
match had made a wrong turn. West Covina had taken over and their leader,
Colonel Artemis, has trapped most of the students into the Eternal Nothingness.
With an urge to escape, the students struggle against West Covina and almost every
one of them have lost brutally. Will they be able to make a comeback? Much more
importantly, are they able to escape the Eternal Nothingness?
Episode 253 – The Capsule Room, Gone in Pairs
On the last episode of Fires of the
Sky, Yessenia’s group had encountered Flynn only to be brutally beat.
Furthermore, Emmy had Scouttie enter the capsule room without notice, but Emmy
herself and Irene had unfortunately been caught by Colonel Artemis. As Matt’s
group met Claire and the ‘new’ Venus, they are in shock that Venus is now a
complete robot with no emotion. She continues to attack her own friends! It
seems like there is no way for Venus to turn back to normal now.
~~~
Matt began the battle by throwing
two large Twirling Flames at Venus. Venus disappeared and then she appeared
right in front of him. Matt created a Fire Shield before she could attack.
Eventually, Venus slowed down her attack to think of a new tactic while Matt
glided into the air. Venus’s right arm blasted her fist towards him. Matt was
pushed back a little until he was able to control his flight.
Venus’s hand regenerated and Matt
threw a few Fire Needles and then a large Fire Serpent at her. Venus jumped
away, and surprisingly, she was able to jump very high. Controlling her height
jump, she was able to reach Matt with a strong fist to his head. Matt fell to
the ground. “All systems still unclear.” She said to herself. Matt was still
barely able to stand.
Matt tried to remember what other
special skills Rowen had used. “I shouldn’t be using the same power as a bad
guy… but at times like this, his strength is needed to win this!” Matt copied
the skill ‘Flare Blitz’ from Rowen as far as he could remember. Matt punched
the ground and a ball of flame lighted the ground. Shortly after, the red light
disappeared from the ground. Matt flew into the air as fast as he could while
the red light distracted Venus.
With her robotic senses, he could
feel a flame coming from the ground. A large blast appeared and Venus had to
spring her body away from the flames that was still following her. While the
flames followed her from behind, Matt threw a large Fireball towards her. She
was surrounded this time!
“That’s enough.” Claire said. She
changed Venus’s physical feelings into Matt’s. The flames burst together,
clashing into Venus. The flames dispersed and Venus felt no pain because she
had taken Matt’s ability to be immune by fire.
Venus then stabbed Matt by surprise
through the stomach. “It is over.” Venus said.
“W-What…?!” Matt froze. “Why…”
Claire chuckled. “It was fun
watching, but you should have known there was no way to win this battle,
especially when I’m still here.”
Matt fell to the ground. The rest of
the group had already been taking each other’s pain due to Claire’s powers
while Matt and Venus were fighting moments before. “The battle is over.” Venus
made her sword weapons disappear as her whole body went back to normal.
“Goodbye.”
~~~
“You’re missing me by a whole
bunch!” Flynn said mockingly. “What do you plan on doing now?” Only his voice
was heard, but his appearance was nowhere to be found. Yessenia began throwing
a bunch of wind attacks such as Tornado Spin, Constricted Wind, and Air
Tornado. Even as she missed with all of her attacks, she made the tornadoes
stay put. “I see what you are doing. You are waiting for me to appear and get
struck by one regardless of where I reappear at, right? Well, I found your
blind spot!”
Flynn appeared right above Yessenia.
“Hm.” Yessenia gave a slight smile.
“Gotcha!” Flynn laughed as he blasted
a large light towards Yessenia from above.
“Now!” Yessenia yelled. Van threw
two wolves at Flynn: one in between Yessenia and Flynn, and one towards Flynn.
The wolf below Flynn vanished after
taking the attack while the second wolf bit onto Flynn’s arm. He began losing
energy to fight. “Got him, Yessenia!” Van leaped in joy.
“It is extremely easy to defeat you
after knowing your weakness. Using reverse psychology, I made you think my main
tactic was to wait for you to appear. Of course, I let a little opening above
me, knowing you would appear there anyway. With that in mind, I had Van wait
for the perfect time to attack you. I can tell you cannot attack twice at once
with your simple mind, so you could not have avoided Van’s attack as you were
trying to attack me.”
Flynn was still trying to set
himself free from the wolf’s pounce. “G-Get this fiend off of me! Greh!!!” Catt
was still able to create a rubber cage over Flynn while Van summoned two
squirrels to help each other tie a knot around Flynn’s wrists behind his back.
“Now you cannot use your powers.”
Yessenia reminded him. “Do not try anything stupid.”
“Don’t worry. If he does anything
suspicious… Hehe,” Van summoned wolves in the cage. “then I’ll order my wolves
to attack him!”
“Let’s take him as hostage when we
find the others!” Catt ordered. “And I need to do something about my mind. I
know how Claire works. She knows when I’m betraying our group.”
“How are you doing to do that?” Van
asked.
“Just give me a second.” She then
gave a ‘meow’.
~~~
Claire arrived at the capsule room
with Venus, who was dragging everybody in a large net. “Colonel Artemis, we
have another batch.”
“That is wonderful. I feel as if we
are missing one more group.”
“Yes. Catt is on her way here,
although her heart returned to our side.”
“Is that so? Well, she has caused us
a large amount of trouble. After she takes those students to us, we will have
to let her go.”
“Let her go?”
“Yes. She will be excommunicated
from our group once we return to the Elemental government. If she was able to
betray us once, there is a chance she may do it again.”
Claire agreed with him. “You do seem
to have a logical point.” She turned to Venus, “Throw them into the capsule
rooms, one for each.” She gave a sigh. “I have to do the most work, but it is
also fun.”
“Where are the others?”
“Benny and Sammy are still searching
for the rest of the students. With their ability to sense our friends, I can
sense them heading towards Catt’s group to reassure them about returning here.
Flynn is following them as well.” She began feeling itchy. “There is some
slight fuzzy thing that I’m feeling around his arms but I can’t tell what it
is, by the way.”
“You can’t check it out with your
powers?”
“My powers can only feel, not see.
My apologies.”
“It is not much of a problem. All we
have to do is wait for the rest of the group to come back.”
Scouttie was still hiding behind the
capsules. “Geheh, they have no idea that I’m still here!”
~~~
Meanwhile, Catt began focusing on
her mind. She became angry after thinking about her past, filled with regret.
She also remembered the similar moment when she took Emmy as hostage as Irene
sacrificed herself to save Emmy.
“What are you doing, Catt?” Jon
watched as she began raging.
“She mentioned Claire earlier.
Claire must be able to sense how Catt is feeling.”
“These people have really strange
powers…” Van commented.
Benny and Sammy appeared before
them. As Benny knocked Catt over, Van began to panic. This caused her wolves to
become untame and uncontrollable. They began scratching Flynn in the cage and
the squirrels were trying to squirm around but they were still stuck in a knot.
Catt coughed. “Ugh, where did you
guys come from?!”
“Catt, what in the world are you
doing?!” Sammy complained.
“I’m taking back what’s rightfully
mine! Freedom!” She stomped her foot. “And how did you even find us?”
“Claire must have adjusted your link
to us. Only we can sense your direction but it seems you cannot sense ours.”
Yessenia tried to take out her long
sword but it was still missing due to Flynn’s attack. Even Flynn, at the
moment, had fainted from the wolves’ attacks. Van summoned as many animals as
she could until she reached the peak of her limit. “Take this!!!”
Sammy easily avoided them all with
her foretelling powers. “Enough of this. Your games are over. You are the last
group left!” Benny helped her by elbowing everybody Van and Jon on the stomach
while Yessenia tried to use her powers but she was weakened without her sword.
Benny knocked her over as well.
Benny then appeared behind Catt as
he gripped onto her from behind. “Catt, if you don’t do what we say, then we
will have to kill you.”
Yessenia tried to stand up. “Are you
really stooping that low?!”
Catt coughed. “H-Help… me…!” Catt
tried to push Benny away but he was too strong for her.
“I guess killing is the only
option.” Benny laughed.
“W-What do you want from me?”
“Set these students into a cage. We
are taking them back into the capsule room.”
“What?!”
Yessenia interrupted them. “Do it,
Catt.” She seemed to have an idea.
Benny turned to Sammy to see if
Sammy could decipher her foretelling. Sammy said to him, “Yeah just do it.
They’re going to plan an idea to get into the capsule room and break free, but
my foretelling powers tells me they will totally fail.” She fixed her wavy hair
as they began walking.
Yessenia glared at them. “I believe
those powers are a piece of crap.” She thought to herself.
~~~
“Now this is like a real reunion.”
Siyun tried to joke.
Alex punched the capsule. “I’ve had
enough with her crappy jokes! Get me out of here!!”
Emmy pointed at the entrance. “Hey
look, there are more people!”
Shirley leaned against the capsule.
“Yessenia, Jon!!”
Maggie cried. “Van, you’re safe!”
“And… Catt?” Irene questioned.
Sammy took off her glasses. “Sigh…
[‘Did she actually say the word ‘sigh’ out loud?’ Alex commented in the
background.] Flynn is out cold and now we are down to just the five of us.”
Dragon was not even facing the
group. He seemed to be minding his own business. Colonel Artemis was feeling
accomplished by now. He knew exactly what to do next. “This time, we are taking
them with us to the Elemental government for execution. It seems not even
sending them to the Elemental Nullos would be helpful. We still have to figure
out who set them free.”
A light blasted from outside the
window. “Good job, Twinkle Toes!” Emmy thought to herself.
Benny
jumped out the window that was previously broken by Colonel Artemis. “Who’s
there?!” A light beam struck Benny on the arm. “Ergh!!!” He could see the fairy
fly away. “What the hell is that?!”
Colonel Artemis began to sweat.
“This is getting bothersome. We shall send them to the government as soon as
possible. Benny, Sammy, take care of that damn fairy or whatever it is!”
Claire gasped. “C-Colonel, you
cannot abuse your powers that way. If you use it once in a large proximity, you
will die!”
“But we also don’t have time! If I
can somehow decrease the amount of energy needed to teleport them to the
government, then I would do it!”
“That is a better option than
risking it all at once.” He opened his arms in front of Siyun and Layla. “You
two will be first.”
“W-What?! Why us?!” Layla said
angrily.
“This is my downfall. Or upfall? Who
knows where the Elemental government lies.” Siyun joked.
Alex’s heart was racing. “No… no,
you can’t be joking at a time like this. Once you go to the government, you
will die. There is absolutely no way to survive the government no matter how
much hope you have!”
“I’ll send you off by two’s!”
Emmy, from the other side of the
room, had to desummon Twinkle Toes because she could sense her in danger.
“Where is Scouttie? Where did he go?”
Siyun said to Alex, “This is goodbye
Alex. I will see you another time.”
“But there won’t be another time.
YOU’RE GOING TO DIE!!” Alex began bawling.
All of the students in the room
began panicking. Dragon was still quiet as usual. “Haha! Who’s next?!” Colonel
Artemis asked. He then faced Michael and Romeo who were next to each other.
“Ah, two more. One is from Mountain View high school and the other isn’t even a
class of 2011 student. You two might as well be next.”
In Matt’s former group, Maggie was
the only one who was able to speak. “Michael…” She said as the others were
still out cold. “You can’t just leave.”
Michael sighed. “I knew something
this dark would happen someday if I kept meddling with power users. I should
have let it go when I had the chance.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I’m a senior now. It’s time I said
goodbye anyway. It’s already over. If there was some way for you guys to stop
them, then I bid you good luck. But for now… this is goodbye forever.”
“Michael, since when did you decide
to give up on things?!” Maggie began crying.
“It’s better this way. Why live in a
world filled with so many messed up problems?”
Maggie became silent. She knew this
really is a messy world, but these students continued to believe in change…
