Recently
on Fires of the sky, the El Monte students returned to Earth only to find it
still frozen. As they return to Arkon’s Magic, the six main students, Matt,
Yessenia, Jaime, Alex, Venus, and Winny all enter a bridge that leads them to
the Elemental Challenges! Without further delay, they were forced to attend as
the six members for the challenges. After the challenge had finished, the final
match had made a wrong turn. West Covina had taken over and their leader,
Colonel Artemis, has trapped most of the students into the Eternal Nothingness.
With an urge to escape, the students struggle against West Covina and almost
every one of them have lost brutally. Will they be able to make a comeback?
Much more importantly, are they able to escape the Eternal Nothingness?
Episode 254 – The Death Countdown, Down the Nullos
Hallway!
Last time on Fires of the Sky, Matt
had to battle against Venus, but he lost in an instant. At the same time,
Yessenia’s group defeated Flynn onto to be beat by Benny and Sammy. At this
point, both groups were taken to the capsule and now everyone has rejoiced.
However, Colonel Artemis had to quickly teleport these students into the
Elemental government where they will be executed. In order for Artemis to
conserve energy, he has to transport them in pairs, not all at once or he will
overuse his powers and die.
~~~
At this point, all of the West
Covina students were focusing on the remaining opposing side who were all still
in capsules. Scouttie was getting a little impatient now since students were
quickly on their way to depletion. Colonel Artemis, filled with empathy, headed
over to Emmy and Irene. Sith began to panic as he slowly made his way standing
up. “P-Please, not the girls!”
Shirley wanted to punch him for
speaking up, but she was in another capsule. “You ugly bug, what do you think
you’re doing?!” She then said to Colonel Artemis, “You can’t do this to Emmy!!”
Sith covered his face in annoyance.
“You just did the exact same thing I did…” He began coughing out blood from the
vital attack that Venus gave to him.
Colonel Artemis said mockingly, “So,
are these girls close friends of yours? It would be a shame for them to
disappear and enter the Elemental government.”
Shirley began crying. “No… please,
don’t do this. T-Take me instead. Don’t do this to Emmy!”
“I am still here.” Irene closed her
eyes.
Nix appeared from Matt’s spirit.
“This is bad…”
Maggie whispered, “Shirley, shhh!
Don’t provoke him!”
Scouttie bounced onto a few levels.
“Golly, this is no time to be fearing! I must pull these levers!” He put a
random red cape on as he yelled, “Hero Scouttie to the rescue!!!” Dragon, Matt,
and Jaime who were next to each other in separate capsules. However, these
three men were completely gone, except for Dragon, but he was doing nothing
anyway.
Emmy stomped her foot. “Oh gosh darn
it! Wrong levers, Scouttie!”
Colonel Artemis tried to throw his
spear at Scouttie but Emmy quickly dismissed her fairy. The spear, instead,
stabbed through the machine with all the levers. “Oh crap.” Alex said bluntly.
The lever machine exploded but the
rest of the capsules were still closed. There was an awkward silence in the
room now. “…So… does that mean we’re stuck in here?” Winny asked.
With rage, Colonel Artemis vanished
Emmy and Irene immediately. “That does it! You’re all going to disappear at once!”
“Colonel!” Claire called out to him.
Shirley was in tears now.
“EMMY!!!!!” She leaned onto the ground, feeling hopeless.
“They’re both gone!!” Sith shouted.
Colonel Artemis began casting his
spell. Claire took a step back. “Colonel! If you use all of your power now, not
only will you go over your own limit, but you won’t even take us at a far
distance with the remaining amount of energy!”
“What does that mean?” Jon said
frantically.
The spell began to envelop the whole
capsule room and everybody became confused at what was going to happen. The
whole room suddenly exploded except for everything within. Of course, all human
beings suddenly vanished…
~~~
Every student was set free, but they
were all in the Elemental Nullos where they last left off at before entering
the Eternal Nothingness. Shirley stretched. “AHH! We’re really back?!?!”
Benny readied his magic. “It’s not
over yet! Even with your large group, we could take you down with just one of
our own members!”
Yessenia agreed with him. “I hate to
admit it, but he is right. Even my calculations may not work here.”
The whole El Monte group along with
Catt and Sith began to notice a growl behind them. The faint growling noise
grew larger. Catt gasped. “Goodness! That’s one of Dragon’s strongest dragon
forms – the Gold Dragon!”
He was still shaped like a human,
but his body material and mind were much different. “…So what happens when he
is in his Gold Dragon form?” Maggie questioned. Dragon suddenly howled as loud
as he could. Maggie and Van immediately hugged each other, screaming together.
“You know, there is something that’s
bothering me. I’m sure you guys ran into other bad people along the way in the
Eternal Nothingness. Whatever happened to them?” Alex asked. He thought about
Geddon, who was also joined along with Alvin and Pilfer. Flynn was left lying
on the ground in the corner.
“Good question.” Maggie answered
him.
“I guess you can say they went…
MISSING. Hahaha!” Maggie suddenly laughed as the room became quiet.
“I don’t get it.” Van said.
Alex rolled his eyes. “If only Siyun
was here to make better jokes…” Benny tried to run through Alex’s body with his
dark powers but Dragon teleported in between them.
Yessenia watched as Dragon and Benny
fought hand-to-hand. “I am noticing that his Gold Dragon form takes advantage
of light speed, stability, and armor.
Jon was amazed. “If that’s Dragon’s
strongest form, then how strong is
Benny?”
“I wouldn’t know. I only recently
knew Benny. I had no idea he was working underground along with Sammy alongside
with Colonel Artemis.”
Dragon slashed across Benny’s body
but it was only external. Benny knelt down and Sammy panicked. Claire and Venus
were about to attack next but Shirley blocked their path with ice and Maggie
used her web powers as best as she could to constrict the two girls. Dragon
went ahead and stabbed through Colonel Artemis’s stomach.
“COLONEL!!!!” Claire screamed.
Alex was sweating. “Oh my god! I
don’t know whether I should be cheering or feeling bad for him!”
Van grabbed his arm. “Neither. More
like… RUN!” The rest of the group began to run. Sith was strong enough to grab
onto Matt and Jaime who were still fainted. Matt slowly opened his eyes, as he
was a light sleeper anyway. He watched as Dragon released his arm out of
Colonel Artemis’s body. Matt was still not used to seeing gore run through
someone’s body like this. His eyes opened wide.
Matt could listen to Colonel
Artemis’s voice: “My son… Where… is he…” His helmet slowly slid off and Matt
could slightly see dark blue hair but the room was so dark that he eventually
was not able to see more.
“Hey, bug guy, stop! Stop!!” Matt
tried to struggle out of Sith’s clench.
Sith threw Matt forward as he
dropped Jaime onto the ground. “What is your problem, boy?!”
“That man!! He…!” Matt shook. “I
need to know who he is!!”
“Now is not the time. Those other
students from West Covina will catch up to us and-…”
Venus slashed Sith from behind. “One
down.”
Matt watched as Sith was almost
slain right in front of him. Everything felt slow motion to him at this point.
“W-What…?” Matt said with a broken voice.
“R-Run… do not stop…!” Sith said as
he fell forward. Blood spurted out of his mouth.
Matt closed his eyes, thinking
carefully. He could hear Venus talking more nonsense about destruction. He
opened his eyes again, but this time, he was angry. “That’s it.” Although Jaime
was heavier than Matt, Matt had to drag him as low as possible while he was
using his gliding powers. Venus sped towards him but Matt casted a bunch of
fire skills that slowed her down. One of the more useful skills such as
Vermillion stopped her path. Sammy and Benny had trouble following as well.
~~~
Back at the entrance of the Eternal
Nothingness, Claire was crying, watching as Colonel Artemis was slowly dying.
“No… Colonel… please stand up. Please tell me you are okay!”
Dragon was still growling
uncontrollably in his Gold Dragon form. In rage, Claire linked Colonel
Artemis’s pain into Dragon’s body. “RAAAAHHH!!!!!!” Claire yelled from the top
of her lungs. Her eyes were in extreme greed. This pain caused Dragon to howl
even louder until eventually, he reverted to his human form and fainted.
“Claire… I’m sorry.” Colonel Artemis
said. “There is no way I will be able to survive this one.”
“No! I’ll just have to use my powers
to link my painless body to yours!”
“That will require a lot more energy
than it would if you linked someone who is pained into someone who is sane!”
“I don’t care. I don’t want you to
die. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you ali-…”
“CLAIRE. You have to listen to me.
Don’t make the same mistake as I did!” Claire stopped as she listened to his
words. “Now, I have one request before I go.” He coughed. His helmet rolled
onto the floor and his face was shown. He had dark blue hair, tannish skin, and
his face resembled someone very familiar. “Ask the El Monte students… whatever
happened to my son. I shouldn’t have tried to hurt them all in the first place
even if they didn’t want to answer me. All I ever wanted… was to be with my son
again.”
Claire wiped her tears away. “But…
colonel!”
“Perhaps there is a chance that if
he really is gone in some strange way… I can meet up with him again, along with
his mother who had passed away several years ago from an illness. I already
told him if his friends ever asked about his parents, that he should say
they’re both happily married and alive. This was to make him stay strong.”
“Colonel… Please tell me of your
boy’s name.” Artemis slowly reached for Claire’s ear to whisper his child’s
name and she agreed to ask El Monte about him for Artemis.
~~~
Ahead in the main group, Alex asked
his El Monte friends, “Where the heck are we running to?!”
“It doesn’t matter! Somewhere’s
gotta lead out of here!” Van ran in front of him.
“H-Hey, don’t leave me behind!”
Shirley was still depressed, knowing
that Emmy will get executed now that she is in the Elemental government. Maggie
was the last person in the group to run in their group. “You guys, I think
we’re missing some people!”
“Those idiots!” Yessenia noticed
that Matt, Jaime, and even Sith were gone. “Where have they gone to?!”
“Nyan! Where are you guys taking
me?” Catt asked as she followed. “I came from the government but I really want
to go home!”
“That’s exactly where we’re trying
to go. If we try to work backwards,” Jon imagined, “we can head over to the
Elemental challenges. After that, we have to go backwards on every stage and
then back to the bridge where Arkon’s Magic is!”
“Everything better run smoothly
because going back the same way is going to be tough and hard to figure out!”
Alex complained.
~~~
“I will not let you get away!” Venus
extended her arm to punch Matt. He fell over and dropped Jaime. Of course, all
of the other El Monte students were ahead while the rest of West Covina was
behind. Matt and Venus had to face each other right in the middle of them all.
“Venus, if you’re going to betray
us, then you might as well leave us alone and do whatever you want without us!”
Matt jumped in front of Jaime and then he casted a bunch of Fire Missiles
towards Venus, “It’s because I’m done being nice!”
Venus created missiles of her own
with her hand. Both of their missiles exploded in midair and Matt had to find
another tactic to work around her. She teleported towards him and Matt had to
create a shield. Several times, she tried to punch him but Matt could only
guard against her. She eventually out-punched him which caused his shield to
disperse as he got pushed back a little. He flew behind Jaime and then Venus
aimed for Jaime who was already on the floor. “Nearest target sighted.”
She turned her right arm into a
sharp blade. Matt gasped. “H-Hey wait!” At an impulse, he had to cover his eyes
as she was about to stab him. He knew he didn’t have enough time to stop her.
“No…!!”
Her arm suddenly stopped. A hand had
gripped onto the bladed portion of her arm. Venus’s eyes finally widened but
only slightly. “Must… destroy!!”
Jaime slowly stood up. His hat fell
to the ground and this time he stopped smiling which was very uncommon for him.
“Venus, please stop this now.” Venus’s arm was shaking. “I don’t care if you
betray us. I don’t care if you’re a robot. I don’t even care if you want to
hurt me. Just please stop being who you’re not. Don’t hurt my friends, because
I know you wouldn’t do that!” His chest was still slightly bleeding from the
cut that she gave him back at the Eternal Nothingness.
Matt took a step forward. “Jaime,
don’t-…”
“VENUS! ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!”
Venus was still silent and shaking. She began to sweat. “Heh, even a robot like
you can sweat. You still have a heart and you’re just denying it.”
“Leave me alone.” She became
angrier. She pushed away from him so she can give a strike towards his chest,
“LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!”
