Episode 144 - The Missing Floyde Ship of Lake Nerim

On the last episode of volume 10, Yessenia, Alex, ShirleyC, and Huy all encounter animals that have turned evil. Eventually, it was revealed that Van was controlling these animals. Where did she get these powers?! Well, she also explains that she was controlled herself. She does not want to admit who did it, however. After being chased by animals, Alex and Huy split from the group to head over to Lancer first while fighting the wolves up ahead. Van summons a large snake to coil against ShirleyC but Yessenia was successful in overpowering Van. After the victory, Van’s powers get tired out and she returns back to her normal state. Phew!
Episode 144 – The Missing Floyde Ship of Lake Nerim

            Matt and Venus were waiting on the bottom floor of the whole elevator boat. They could hear running footsteps and voices yelling up above. It seemed as though the whole boat was in full commotion. Venus yawned. "I'm tired. Do you think we should be waiting down here until the boat gets to the bottom of the waterfall?"
            Matt remembered what Venus explained to him about what he did while he was uncontrollable. Venus guessed correctly that Matt burned most of the staircases above them. He had a plan to escape the boat. "I guess when the boat is at the bottom, it will land completely at the end of the Nerim Lake. We can break open a hole down here since I've already made a huge mess. We're practically going to get in big trouble."
            "Should we make a run for it once we leave?"
            Matt rolled his eyes. "That never stopped you. Then again, we're after Jaime, aren't we?" Venus looked up at the ceiling, remembering what she had said to Jaime.
            Just a few sprains stopped her from moving as fast as she could before. "You're not the guy I thought you were." Jaime looked at her without a word. "So you know what? SCREW YOU!"
            Venus began chuckling in guilt. "EHEHEH yes we are still after him." She overheard Jaime talking about heading to the Boral Marshes. "So, uh, what is near the Nerim Lake?"
            Matt answered her. "From what I remember, Elk Village is to the west and the Boral Marshes are to the right. Since Elk Village seems like a dead end, I don't think we'll find Jaime there-..."
            Venus interrupted him. "Oh! No, I overheard Jaime saying he's heading for Elk Village though." She lied, hoping to stall time to avoid Jaime as best as she could. "He's probably there. So, once we land at the lake down below, we'll quickly make a run to the village, okay?"
            Matt scratched his head. "Hm... You seem a little uncomfortable. Oh well who cares. We'll go to Elk Village next to find him."
            Venus giggled. "Of course, of course!"
 ~~~
            The elevator boat eventually reached the bottom floor. Matt and Venus stood beside the wall that was predicted to lead right outside. Their fancy clothes were already worn out from their battles. Venus stood almost behind Matt, waiting for him to make the attack. Venus thought about it for a moment. "Johnny..."
            Matt turned around before he could blast a fireball at the wall. "Shouldn't we go get him?"
            Venus shook her head. "I have an idea. Once we make our escape, we should hide somewhere. I'm sure he can be easily found." She turned away. "Calling is never an option here in Elsiya anymore. The phone signals can't reach any the phone companies back on Earth..."
            Matt could hear the water rushing through the bottom floor. "Obviously, the deepest floor on a ship will usually be underwater. Thanks to our swimming lessons we got from PE last year, I can learn to float. That's pretty much it."
            "That's pretty sad if you asked me." Venus mocked him.
            "Wow. This is not the time." Matt rolled his eyes as Venus giggled.
            The elevator boat eventually came to a stop. Matt had his palm faced against the wall. "Let's hope my fireball is strong enough to break through." Matt focused on his energy. He was already getting exhausted. He used too much energy back at the long staircase in the boat. Matt quickly blasted the fireball before it could get cancelled through exhaustion. The unexpected fireball caused Venus to fall from surprise and Matt knelt down, wanting to faint again.
            "Matt, hang in there! We're almost out!" Venus said as she helped Matt moved out of the room. Water poured in fast. Venus and Matt quickly swam out of the hole and they appeared within the Nerim Lake's body of water.
            Venus and Matt opened their eyes. Matt noticed that there was no ship to be found underwater! He looked over at Venus and she pointed upward, indicating to get out of the water at a certain area where nobody would be able to see them. Matt floated up and Venus swam her way behind the boat.
            They both appeared out of the blue lake. Matt grasped for air. He was trying to get used to the water. He tried to back in PE last year when he jumped into a pool of water. Venus grabbed his arm as she led him to a far shore that went further away from the boat. Eventually, Venus and Matt were far enough for civilians not to see them.
            Matt was coughing again. He was still tired. "Are you alright?" Venus asked.
            "Just a little. We should hide in the bushes." Matt suggested. "We'll make our way back to the boat without being seen." Venus nodded as they ran together. Matt thought in his mind, "That's strange... why was there no crashed ship underwater? They couldn't have cleaned up that fast."
            Eventually, at the boat, most civilians already made their way to their family members who were going to visit them at the Nerim Lake. Some others entered another airship. Some decided to stay, who initially just wanted to go sight-seeing on the elevator boat. Venus examined the crowd. "Hm, that's weird. There is no sign of Johnny anywhere."
            The two students could see the soldiers evacuating everyone first to check if they are okay. As the procedures go, everyone is to be evacuated first before returning them back into the elevator boat. Even so, Matt and Venus could not find Johnny. "Do you think he's still around?" Matt wondered.
            "Don't tell me he left again..." Venus frowned.
            "But you left him too, didn't you?"
            Venus yelled, "It was because I was worried since you were gone! I didn't mean to leave him like that. Still, where would he have gone?"
            "Should we head over to Elk Village then?"
            Venus examined the area and she saw Jaime standing there, talking to a few soldiers who expressed confusion about a missing Floyde ship. "Er, yeah we should go to Elk Village. Jaime might be there." She lied again, hoping that Matt did not see Jaime yet.
            Matt agreed with her. "Right. I'm sorry about Johnny." He began to head over to the village. Venus followed with a worried look on her face. Johnny mysteriously disappeared and she is lying to Matt.
 ~~~
            Heading towards Elk Village, Venus noticed something light. She examined her chest. "W-What the?!"
            Matt turned around from her exaggerrated surprise. "What, what?!"
            "My necklace!"
            "...That's it?"
            Venus became angry. "It's gone. My necklace that Johnny given to me two years ago before we had to leave Kranz back in June. Damn it! Where did I drop it?!"
            Matt scratched his head. "Erm, maybe at the lake?"
            Venus closed her eyes. "No way... That can't be."
            "Do you want to go get it?"
            Venus shook her head. "Not right now. We can always go back and find it."
            "But it's a large lake!"
            "Finding it later is the same thing as if we were to find it now. Might as well find it later!" Venus said. "This is not cool. Everything is falling apart all at once. I just hope Johnny is okay..."
            "I'm sure he'll be fine. He doesn't look like the kind of guy who will get into much trouble, at least easily anyway.:
            "Yeah, I guess..." Venus sighed as they went on to Elk Village.
 ~~~
            Back at the Nerim Lake, Jaime said to William, "Your reports, William?"
            "I could not find neither Matt nor Venus at Melvin. Reports say that civilians have seen a large panda roaming through the suburbs of Melvin however this was moments ago. This panda could have gone anyway."
            "Peter, huh."
            "Peter? From El Monte?"
            "Yes. He must have ran off. Alright, then we shall head to the Boral Marshes. Actually, William, take the next ship to Lancer. You're going to do another search there, but for Yessenia and Alex." He pointed at Michael who was still trying to figure out where the Floyde ship had gone to. "I'll tell Michael to head to Elk Village. I'll report to Tony about our updates. Who knows what Shirley Ma is up to."
            "Where are you going, Lieutenant Jaime?"
            "I am going to walk my way through the Boral Marshes. With the three of us on the search for this northern half of the Marconian Continent, I doubt the runaways would get away this time."
            "Sounds like a plan, Lieutenant sir!"
            Jaime whispered, "You don't need to act like a real soldier, calling people 'Lieutenant' and 'sir' all over the place..."
            "Sorry, sir!"
 ~~~
            "My senses are sparking up again, villagers! Mark your equipments! Foreigners are coming!" yelled a boy in a cape. "We're about to be attacked!"
            The villagers became alert and each family household took rakes, bows, pans, anything that could be used as weapons. A girl with a kind voice shivered. "We've fended off monsters for the past few days. Why must there be foreigners now? What should we do?"
            "Don't worry, little girl!"
            The girl sighed. "(Ehe... you're treating me as if you don't know me.)"
            "The attacked villagers today, will be avenged! We shall take initiative and move on ahead! Come on, Amy (C), let us take on this challenge!"
            Amy took a large spoon and she blushed, thinking about how she'll maneuver her battle. "O-Okay!"
 ~~~
            Venus continued jumping down the rocks up ahead of her. Matt tried to catch up but he was afraid to fall. This was Venus being Venus, again. With Johnny and the necklace still in her mind, she tried her best not to think about them. It would only make her sadder. She giggled as she passed through the plains between Nerim Lake and Elk Village. Matt fell face-flat on a large builder. "BLAH! VENUS! Wait!"
            Venus turned around and she began waving at him from afar. "Haha! Come on, you're too slow!"
            "I-I'm trying..." Matt wanted to cry.
            It was not long until they had gone into trouble again. Minutes later, they were noticing a few monsters nearby. Venus whispered to Matt, "Gee, we can never run away from danger, can we?"
            "D-Don't say that. I'm tired of all this running away and pressures. I can't wait to search around in a peaceful village."
            Two wolves came by. "Animals!" Venus yelled.
            "Wolves aren't... oh whatever." Matt created fireballs as he threw them to the wolves. Venus simply zapped them with her thunder whip.
            "Easy as pie!"
            "At least that's the good thing..." Matt sighed. The wolves vanished into thin air. "Digicells huh..."
            Venus turned to Matt. "That's funny. In Elsiya, these weird things are called 'digicells'?"
            "Yep!" Matt began to explain. "Last year, my friends and I would go on unintentional adventures to different worlds. Instead of animals, these unrealistic monsters would show up. If we defeat them, they do not bleed. They just die and vanish in pain as if they were electronically created or something. In other words, Elsiya is not like Earth. We are in a completely different universe."
            "Wow. That taught me nothing. I kind of figured all that out already just by killing this wolf monster."
            "Then why did you ask?!" Matt became annoyed.
            "Onto Elk Village we go!" Venus changed the subject. Matt was speechless.
 ~~~
            Venus and Matt continued making their way to Elk Village. Eventually, they heard a call. "Halt! State your names, peasants!"
            Matt began to complain. "Even in fancy clothing, people still see us as peasants!!"
            Venus coughed. "Well mainly because our clothes got messed up along the way."
            "Don't correct me!" Matt commanded.
            "I, the Hero of Elk Village, will stop your tracks, villains!"
            Amy walked beside him. "Bunhong!" She giggled. "These 'foreigners' you were talking about are just our friends!" She said in an extremely happy tone. "Matt, Venus! It's so great to see you two!" She jumped off the small cliff that Bunhong stood on. Once she ran over to them, she gave each student a hug.
            Venus smiled as well. "How cute! You haven't grown an inch!" Amy suddenly began to cry.
            Matt scratched his head. "Ehm, from what I noticed last year, no one should be making fun of Amy or else this happens. As for Bunhong... Eheh... I don't want to talk about it."
            Bunhong made a fist as he pointed to the air, "Matt, Venus! Welcome, heroes, to Elk Village!"
            Matt and Venus sighed. Matt said softly, "I could have sworn he called us villains a second ago..."
            "Well, that aside, I guess we found more people from El Monte! I'm thinking we should gather them up and we can all journey together to find a way to return home." Venus said.
            Matt shook his head. "Yeah! The more the merrier right?" And so, the group of four began to talk and walk together towards Elk Village. Lots of questions and stories began to spark up now that these two appeared. What they each did not know was... the fact that they are still being chased down by the lieutenants. In this case, Lieutenant Michael is on his way.
