Let’s recap on the whole Marconian Arc so far! First, Matt and Venus decide to split with Yessenia and Alex to find Jaime a faster way, so they head north. Yessenia and Alex go the same direction, but by foot. They meet Michael, who wants to take only the 2012 students away from the depths of elemental powers. Matt and Venus decide to split as they enter Elk Village because Venus does not want to go through more heartbreaks and she finds it better to protect a village than the venture onward. Yessenia and Alex temporarily split from the Floral Waterscape and Lancer because of Van’s ambush. Now, we’re finally learning the true intentions of Tony and his elemental crystals. Here we go, time to move onward!
Episode 149 – A Crucial Battle, Monster Takeover!
Amy was standing away from everybody else including Matt, Michael, and Bunhong. Her light green aura was increasing rapidly. She cared for Matt deeply, but what Matt did not know was ‘why’ she cared so much. The trees and bushes were shaking on their own. Amy raised her hand and then she pointed at Michael. “Leaf Gale!” She yelled. A bunch of leaves broke off their branches from the trees, followed by a few leaves from the bushes. The leaves flew at tremendous speed and Michael could barely jump away. One leaf was strong enough to scratch him on his left arm.
Michael thought in his mind, “What power…! She could even make scrawny leaves scratch people?!” He jumped back onto the ground and he readied his foil weapon. “Then again,” he said to the ground, “I’m not surprised at how strong you could get, Amy.”
“I don’t play around when it comes to you hurting my friends.”
“Your true power grows the more you express care for someone else, is that correct?” Michael asked. Amy ignored his question.
Matt was able to stand back up. “You better leave us alone, Michael.”
“You two don’t get it one bit. I am trying to save the world here.” Michael said in annoyance.
“We are too, but not in a way that you want us to take part on!” Matt responded. He summoned his butterfly sword again.
Amy said to Bunhong, “Warn the villagers. Barricade the whole village so that no other enemies enter. Matt and I will drive this man out!”
Bunhong saluted her by putting his right hand on his forehead. He blushed in fear. “Yes ma’am!”
Matt thought, “Whoa, she’s good.”
“Leaf Tempest!” More leaves flew from the trees and this time, a crowd of leaves spun like a pinwheel, causing it harder to escape from.
Matt was on the other side against Michael. “Fireball!” Matt threw two fireballs and Michael had to pluck several eyebrows to create a mass shield all around him like a force field.
Amy ran up to him with more leaves following her. Michael jumped away in the process. Matt glided into the air. It seemed that Amy’s plan was to drive him out of the village and Matt was forced to follow along. He could not leave Amy with Michael on a one-on-one battle.
Van made a crowd of birds appear. “Take her down!” She pointed at Maggie.
Maggie created a large spider web. “Entangle!” The webs trapped all of the birds and Van made a wolf appear.
“Rip those webs apart!”
“Tch! You can’t try the same move on me as you did before.” She opened her other hand. “Toxication!” The wolf bit the web but it fell onto the ground, moaning.
“W-What just happened?”
“Toxication makes anything and anybody who touches it, get poisoned quickly.”
Van clenched her teeth. She glanced over towards Lancer with the peripheral vision of her eye. They were close to the city. “(If I can keep stalling for a few moments, it won’t be long until Yessenia and her friends leave the city. From there, Maggie will never find them).”
Maggie threw spider webs at Van. “What are you thinking about? Don’t get distracted now!”
At that moment, Van became constricted with webs!
Yessenia ran over to Huy to check if he was okay. Shirley had her pole stick ready to battle. William stopped with guilt, however. Shirley clenched onto her weapon tightly, asking, “Why are you scared now?”
William was shaking. “You… you!” William suddenly ran away to the left.
Shirley’s mouth gaped open. “Wha- HEY! Don’t just run away. We were just getting serious here!!” She chased after him. “Ice Prism!” She created large mounds of ice all around William’s surroundings. “Icicle Rain!” Ice began falling from the area above William. With him barely escaping, he accidentally dropped the Grimoire book.
He then yelled, “Soul – activate! Shiva!”
Shirley gasped. “Shiva?! Isn’t that-…” The large mounds of ice began forming on its own until it turned into a woman with cold air around herself. Shirley became frustrated. “Turning my own ice against me. Real nice.” She was too busy thinking of a strategy to fight against the ice woman now. This gave William the perfect chance to escape. “Ah, whatever.” Shirley took a step back and then she made another attack. “Shattered Ice!” The rain of ice shattered and stormed all over Shiva’s surroundings. “I’ve got you now!”
The Shiva crouched down and Shirley gave a cocky smirk expression. However, the Shiva was only gathering power to explode all of the ice. Yessenia sensed this was her plan, so she quickly ran in front of Shirley and created a tornado to counter off the ice. Yessenia created a Tornado Spin and then she ran towards Shiva to slash with a gust of wind with speed. This easily defeated the Shiva and the woman monster vanished into thin air. “That should do it.” Yessenia said with a breeze.
Alex opened his eyes a little. “The… Grimoire book.” This alerted Yessenia as she helped retrieve the book for him.
Huy stood up and said to the group. “Wait! That Grimoire book…!”
Alex retaliated after he gained his powers back. “G-Give it up, Huy. It doesn’t matter which one of us has the book. Even if the Telsi page is still missing, we can’t do anything about it. That page is more important than this book itself.”
Shirley gasped. “Did someone say Telsi?!”
Yessenia placed her right hand over her forehead. “I can only take a guess on what is going on here. But first, let’s find a place to rest and then you two can tell the whole story about this Grimoire book.”
Maggie was still binding Van in her spider webs. “Are you getting tired yet?”
Van coughed. She could barely breathe. “S-Stop it! Damn it!” In no time, Van felt light-headed and then she fainted.
Maggie laughed. “That should do it. It’s time to take you back to Master William! GAHAH!”
“Or he appears before you can do that.” Said a voice.
Maggie turned around. “M-Master!”
William frowned, but his eyes were still closed. “Hm? What do we have here?” Maggie was silent. “Did you do this to her?”
“Well uh… She was not listening to me… and she was helping Yessenia and them.”
“Very well. Take her with me to Wisteria. Tony is about done experimenting on those who appear in the Marconian Continent. Once we reach Wisteria, Jaime will provoke everybody from Lancer to enter Wisteria by walking. By then, we’ll have enough time to set preparations.”
“Preparations for what?” Maggie asked.
“To completely destroy Wisteria by using all of the elemental crystals that we have.” He began chuckling.
Maggie smiled. “That sounds great, master. Let’s go there now.”
Shirley jumped out of the closet room. “Hmhm!~ Is this a nice outfit?” Instead of a purple turtle-neck, she wore a bluish turtle-neck and a skirt that matched with it.
Alex stared at her. “Not really.” Shirley punched him.
Yessenia appeared with a very short shirt. “This is… a bit revealing.” She blushed.
Shirley giggled. “Get used to it! We’re teenagers!”
“I’m not sure if I’m going to like staying like this.” Yessenia looked away.
Huy became serious. “Anyway, William said that he has the missing page of the Grimoire book.” Shirley and Yessenia began to listen carefully. “That missing page happens to be the Telsi formula. Another side-effect of this book is that if Alex loses it, his water power is drained.”
“And this was thrown into my spirit after the Pendulum of Time was triggered.” Alex added. “The book wasn’t of any importance to my spirit until after that Pendulum of Time happened.”
“And with that, anything that could be used as a weapon becomes part of their spirit.”
Yessenia thought about her long sword. “I see.” She said to Alex, “And is there a way to make the book vanish into your spirit like all of our own weapons?”
Alex carried the Grimoire book. “I-I can try.” Alex then looked over at Huy, being concerned about Huy’s own needs for the book.
Huy looked away with a sigh. “Peh! Just keep it then. All I wanted was the formula. I guess that didn’t occur to me when William barely told us. Besides, I guess I can trust you with it. Unlike someone here.”
Shirley stomped her foot. “Well excuse me for wanting to bring world peace by making everyone pretty with the Telsi potion.”
Yessenia crossed her arms. “That aside, we have no trace on where to go next. Matt and Venus could still be north of us, or east if they made it here before us.”
Alex grinned. “And there’s no telling if they made it here before us or not…”
“You two are looking for Matt and Venus?” Shirley wondered. The thought of Matt’s name made Huy shiver but no one noticed.
Yessenia nodded and then she looked out the window. “I wonder how Van is doing too… She has not arrived here in Lancer yet.”
Screams were heard from the outside once their conversation slowly melted away. Shirley ran up to Yessenia to check outside through the windows. “What is it now?” The group of four eventually grouped together to view the window and there were spider webs all over the factories and even some trees were moving on their own. Rocks piled up together, becoming large boulders with faces on them. Some walls on buildings had eyes opening as well.
Alex shivered. “Eugh… that reminds me so much of when we first saw William before.”
Huy ran outside first. “If William decided to come back and mess with the city, then we’ll just have to fight back!”
Yessenia followed him. “We have no other choice.”
Shirley became frustrated. “And we’re going to mess up these new clothes already?!”
Matt and Amy were chasing after Michael this time. Michael new about Jaime’s plan, so it was best of him to lure the two students to the Boral Marshes. Matt turned around to look at the village, “Venus, Bunhong…”
Amy controlled a few vines along the Nerim Lake to try and catch Michael but she missed. “Forget about them right now. They will be fine. Right now, I do not allow enemies to get away!”
Minutes later, the three reached the Boral Marshes. Michael suddenly stopped. “If you two think you can get away with challenging only one lieutenant, how about plenty monsters at once?”
Matt took a step back. “What do you mean?”
Michael pointed at the marshes up ahead. “Jaime summoned many dark slimes here, a perfect habitat from marshes to slimes, don’t you think?”
Matt clenched his fists. “Damn it. What is wrong with you? First, you want to protect people, and now you don’t give a crap about the world’s natural habitat?”
“Actually, no. I needed your help to clear the monsters without trying to attack me.” Michael took out his cellphone and saw the Arkon’s Magic option and then he thought to himself, “If I were to teleport in there and come back, I can go a different route once Matt and Amy makes a move further into the Boral Marshes…” Michael pressed the button and he began vanishing.
Matt tried to catch him. “W-Wait a minute!” As Michael completely vanished, Matt was too late and he fell. “Is he messing with us?”
Amy shook her head. “I don’t think so. From what I can see, Michael wants us to help protect the continent but since we won’t do things his way, he is forcing us. I don’t know what else to think. I still can’t forgive him.”
Matt sighed. “Amy, it’s alright. I guess in a way, he’s just trying to do what’s right. Maybe we should do what he says and fight the monsters here after all.”
Amy became worried. “I sure wish that was easy, but look at the Boral Marshes ahead of us.” Matt and Amy were near the top of a hill a little above the Boral Marshes.
Matt pointed at a large dip. “There’s a hole over there and a lot of monsters are bundled up there.”
“There are slimes all over that area. On the map, there is this strange thing called ‘Plaines Triangle’. If you look closely, a lot of the monsters and slimes are coming from that one spot.”
“I don’t understand. Why is this happening especially only now?”
Amy closed her eyes in shame. “The Marconian Continent’s crucial spot has been tampered with.” Matt still did not understand as Amy rephrased herself, “Therefore, if the Plaines Triangle is activated, one of the six Grand Cradles opens. When one gate opens, lots of monsters appear and the only way to stop it is to deactivate the Grand Cradle’s gate. Meaning, we must reach the Plaines Triangle. It would be a waste of time to constantly fight the monsters now as they will keep spawning. There is a time limit, however. If time runs out, it’ll be impossible to stop the gate!”
Matt nodded. “Gotcha! Well then, we should go there now!” Matt ran up ahead and Amy tried to catch up. There was a certain time limit, however.
