Episode 136 - Omar, the Boy Who Walks for Himself

It’s me, Nix! Last time, it was the start of the Marconian Continent adventure where Matt and Venus split up to find Jaime! Sadly, Venus barged into the ship and all of the soldiers took sight of them. After that, Omar, the pilot, appears to save Matt and Venus from falling off the edge of the ship! Since Omar was away from the control room, the ship was not in control and it was falling into the Nerim Lake. Meanwhile, Yessenia faces Lieutenant Braus who was revealed to be Michael, the teacher’s assistant from Biology class! But, long, long ago when Matt barely had his powers, it was mentioned that only class of 2011 has these elemental powers. Why does Michael, an upperclassman, have powers of his own? That should be explained in this episode!
Episode 136 – Omar, the Boy Who Walks for Himself

            Moments later, the ship was still intact with the ground. After minutes have gone by, water began leaking into the every open space in the ship such as open windows, air vents, and even the sewage pipes that are trashed towards the bottom. The sound of water was pouring into the deck room where Matt, Venus, and Omar were. The rush caused only Matt to wake up as he was much of a light sleeper.
            He sat up and then he examined the room before him. “What’s going on?” He remembered the last thing that happened before he had fainted. The ship fell into the lake in a rush and all three students were struck roughly against the ceiling and back onto the floor. “H-Hey, Venus, wake up!” He shook her stomach and Venus suddenly punched him as if she was never asleep.
            “Don’t touch me there you bastard!!”
            Matt coughed. “Eh… heh… I wasn’t intending to…” He became serious, “Anyway, we have to get out of here.” He pointed at a hole with water rushing in. “We don’t have enough time.”
            Venus patted her short-shorts and then she took out her whip. “Let’s make that hole larger and swim out, then!”
            Matt thought about the last time he tried to swim back in June. “But I don’t know if I’m capable of water because of my…” He noticed that Omar was still there, so he whispered to Venus, “My fire powers.”
            “Oh screw it. Just go for it! And let’s leave him here.”
            “Are you sure? Omar is from our school so he’s not a bad guy.” Venus constantly began to whip the hole to make it larger. “Are you even listening to me?!” Matt yelled.
            Venus giggled, “Let’s go!”
            “But what about Omar?!” Matt ran to him and he knelt down to check Omar’s injury. Venus jumped into the water without wait. The water rushed in and Matt was dragging Omar. The pressure of water pushed against the ship’s hole and the hole became even larger. Matt and Omar were dragged into the lake along with Venus. “WHAT THE HECK! You know I can’t swim!!!”

            At the East Bridge, Yessenia still had her sword pointed at Lieutenant Braus. He was already pinned down, but Yessenia gave a surprised expression after she destroyed his helmet. The sight of this person… She had dealt with in the past more than once before. She dropped her arms to her side and the sword was withdrawn into her wind spirit. “I cannot…”
            Alice scratched her head. “Why did she stop? Kill him, Yessenia!”
            “He’s… from!” Alex pointed at the lieutenant. The lieutenant happened to be Michael Dang, the class assistant of Alex and Yessenia’s Biology class. This student is a Senior in El Monte High School. What is strange is the fact that he is here in this open space. “What is he doing here in Elsiya?”
            Michael had an extra eyebrow hair on his finger tips and he turned it into a sword. He tried to strike Yessenia but she jumped away as fast as she could. Michael stood up still with his imitating long sword in his hand. “So you now know. Do you even know who you really are, Yessenia?”
            “Do not speak of that!” Yessenia said angrily as she looked away in a blush.
            “What is she talking about?” Alice wondered.
            “Yessenia, your sister is in the same grade as I am. We’ve gone through a long history throughout our high school years. Why is it that you were never there?”
            “Shut up, I said!!” Yessenia made her long sword appear again. A large amount of wind appeared around her as if she could not control it. Her anger overpowered her.
            “About what? About the fact that you were not bor-…” Yessenia threw her long sword at him but Michael dodged it. His pace was quick, however. He threw his own sword nearby Yessenia to catch her off-guard. Michael ran towards Alice and then he grabbed onto her from behind. “Furthermore, why is a freshman here in Elsiya?”
            “What concerns do you have for freshmen?” Yessenia became curious.
            Alice tried to shake him away. “Agh, get off of me!”
            “Have you not noticed it yet?” Michael asked. This question has gotten everybody quiet. “I know you and this Alex boy here possess strange powers. From what I know, you both are accidentally given elemental crystals. So far, the only interaction with these fictional powers occurred within the class of 2011, your class. I am class of 2009.”
            “What is your point?” Yessenia said to hasten his point.
            “You all indirectly believed that only the class of 2011 has such powers. Well, only Yessenia and Winny know the truth. However, Winny let that thought slide off her mind once she entered high school. The truth is, the upperclassmen exposed you all with such powers through Winny. This girl here…” He looked at Alice. “Must not interfere with such fiction. The class of 2011 must be the last to endure in this situation. In doing so, I must take her away with me.”
            Alex interrupted him, “What are you going to do to her?!”
            Michael took out his cellphone. “A place that you’re both familiar with! Earth is frozen and she can simply run away. But in a certain other world, there is a limited source of things to do. Do you know which place I am talking about?”
            Alice screamed. “No! I want to stay with them!”
            Michael pressed a button on his cellphone. They both began vanishing together. “That is right. The world of Arkon’s Magic!”
            Yessenia and Alex opened their eyes wide in surprise. Yessenia shrieked, “STOP IT!!”
            The two students vanished together. Alex tried to grab onto them. “Damn it! Why is Arkon’s Magic still existing?”
            Yessenia fell onto her knees. “That man…”
            “What was he even talking about anyway?”
            “The upperclassmen… They…”
            “Why are you so scared? They have powers too. That’s not a good or bad thing. You make it sound like it’s all a super demonic thing.”
            Yessenia was frozen in fear. “They all… failed their mission.” At this point, Alex was frightened as well. This is the truth. Every single upperclassman failed to complete what they were destined to do with their powers. The reason is because not a single one of them could decipher the meaning to their powers. It was not just mere coincidence that students gained powers. Fate, even through the injections that Winny spread and the elemental crystals that Tony expanded, has given each student a mission to partake. This is something none of the upperclassmen could do…
 ~~~
            Yes, it is so. These students, class of 2011, have all been fighting for their lives because they possess such cursed powers. As Matt, Venus, and Omar are struggling to reach to the land of the lake… They are trying their best to survive, something that the upperclassmen could have easily messed up on. Venus reached the shore and Matt unintentionally floated to the top with Omar still dragged onto Matt’s grip.
            The two students breathed heavily when they landed and Omar was still out cold. Venus coughed a little bit and then she rubbed the water nearby her eyes. “Where are we now?” She examined the whole area while only sitting down. “This looks nothing like the Melvin place we were about to go to.”
            Matt tried to stand up but he fell back down onto his knees. He was too exhausted by the fact that his fire powers had to fight against the water. Omar was slowly twitching. He moaned a little and then he opened his eyes. Matt and Venus watched as he sat up. Omar asked them, “You’re both okay?” He gave a sigh of relief. “That’s a surprise.”
            “Surprise?!” Matt yelped. Omar got up and then began limping away. “W-Wait.” Matt said. “Where are you going now?” Omar was heading towards a vined wall next to the waterfall that led to the lake.
            “I’m going up.”
            Matt and Venus gasped. Venus crossed her arms in certainty, “Tch! How the heck can you get up there when you’re all injured?”
            Omar climbed one step of the fine. Matt added, “Maybe you should wait a little. We can go with you.” Omar continued to move on further to the top.
            Venus took a step forward, “Come on, Omar! We saved you.”
            “Why don’t we just wait for a few more minutes or something-…”
            “You two need to shut your mouths!!” Omar said with a blast of anger. Matt and Venus were widely surprised from this. “You two don’t even understand what it’s like… to have your own city be destroyed by the likes of CORP soldiers. Humans in general are just too cruel.” This student is Omar. From his point of view, he is both against the CORP soldiers and the civilians themselves. He is an independent student who does not need to rely on others. Although he is seen as a joyful person such as being a pilot, there are times when he must become serious in order to do what he must do. “I need to save my friends.”
            “Which friends? We might know them.” Matt said.
            “Just… leave me alone.” Omar went on. He was about twenty feet up the vines of the waterfall.
            Matt and Venus decided to wait it out. Venus rolled her eyes. “Geez, I just don’t understand. He didn’t seem that mad when we were in the ship. He was just some random pilot.”
            “He didn’t really talk much in class last year. Apparently, he is one of the smartest in science and math.” Matt was amazed. The both of them sat together until nightfall when it would be harder for them to be spotted by soldiers.
 ~~~
            Meanwhile, Yessenia and Alex were left at the East Bridge. None of the guards knew what to do next. They were speechless from what Michael had said. Alex had his arms crossed with the Grimoire book still in his hand. “What do we do now? We just lost Alice in a snap.”
            “True… but all we can do now is to go forward. There is an imperial city to the north of this Marconian Continent like I mentioned before. That is the city of Melvin. To go through that, we have to go northwest towards Lancer and across the plains. By now, Matt and Venus are almost at Melvin. We will be completely behind but it is safer nonetheless.”
            “I agree with you on that. But how can we cross this area?”
            “Shh.” Yessenia whispered. She noticed that the four guards were talking to each other. Once Yessenia heard them talk about a fallen Floyde ship, she opened her eyes wide. “That cannot be…!”
            “What, what is it?”
            “The Floyde ship… crashed?” Yessenia was shaking. “Matt and Venus were on that damn ship!” She yelled at the guards, “Listen! We are just peasants. Our friends are on that ship that you are talking about. We need to find this ship immediately!”
            One guard laughed at her. “You think we will let two peasants help us?”
            Alex readied his water powers. “I hate fighting but him making fun of us like that is so annoying!”
            Yessenia placed her left arm in front of Alex. “Wait.” She said to the guards, “We were never against you soldiers. We do not even know of our own existence here in Elsiya, but we do not want to be treated like peasants just because of that. Now please, let us come along!” The soldiers began running away without opening the gate completely. They decided that it was better to run towards the north without the help of two peasants. “Tch!” Yessenia rolled her eyes in anger. “I guess we have to climb the little watchtower from the side. Let us go. We cannot waste any more time.”
            “Augh, more exercising. I’m tired.” Alex complained.
 ~~~
            It was sunset now and Matt knelt down beside the lake. He grabbed a handful of water and then he covered his face in a veil of aqua. Well… kind of. Matt accidentally tasted the water and he was choking. “Ack, ack, agh! What the hell!”
            Venus giggled, “Hehehehe, you must be kinda stupid.” She looked at a piece of the ship sticking out of the lake. “The oil bin of the ship broke and it is spilled everywhere.”
            Matt cried. “Damn it! I tasted oil then?!”
            “Anyway, it’s almost dark.”
            “She doesn’t even care that I just swallowed oil…” Matt said to himself.
            “We can go in a few minutes. Omar should be at the top by now.” Venus claimed.
            Matt decided it was a good idea to start climbing now. He grabbed onto a vine and then he said to Venus, “Let’s go. This could be fun.” He started to climb. Venus watched him. After about fifteen feet, Matt noticed that Venus was not following him. She just stood there. “What are you doing just standing there?”
            Venus pointed at the stony boulders next to the vines. “Don’t you know that my thunder powers can be useful?”
            Matt tilted his head in confusion. “What do you mean?”
            Venus took out her whip. “Just you watch me! I have the perfect idea.”
            “Are you going to whip me?!” Matt shrieked.
            “Calm down!” Venus yelled back. “This is going to work for sure.”
            Sneakily, William was hiding behind some bushes. He sneezed. “Ugh, damn it. I hate these flowers.” He saw Matt and Venus in the distance. “They’re heading for Melvin, I see.”
