Recently
on Fires of the sky, the El Monte students returned to Earth only to find it
still frozen. As they return to Arkon’s Magic, the six main students, Matt,
Yessenia, Jaime, Alex, Venus, and Winny all enter a bridge that leads them to
the Elemental Challenges! Without further delay, they were forced to attend as
the six members for the challenges, but are they ready? After finishing the
first match, the El Monte students find that they have humiliatingly lost
against all the other four schools. Even worse, one of the members of El Monte
seemed to have mysteriously run away with Benny, a member from Rosemead. Even
after the second match, El Monte placed last again! How are they going to win
now?
Episode 225 – Slim Banters, the Key to Interfering
“Even with that terrible wound on
him…” Alex thought back to what had just occurred with him. Sith forced himself
to battle Dracula even with a wound struck by Siyun from the last match. Still,
he deliberately agreed to battle and have Alex run on ahead. “People from other
schools really are friendly… at least, from all of the Arroyo students that I have
met. Emmy, Gina, and even Sith – they are all so cool, but Emmy and Gina are
already gone…” He began to frown, and then he shook his head. “I can’t let
these thoughts distract me. Sith pushed me forward for a reason, and I’m going
to keep going for him and every other friend who supports me!”

Meanwhile, Winny was making her way
down the corridor until she saw a bunch of flashes ahead of her. To her, it
sounded more like… a party? “Oh my! And they didn’t invite me?!” Upon arriving
at the center of the star, she took a pause and she saw Ghoul, Keith, and Sammy
trying to break through their respective doors. “So this is what happens when I
take my time getting here.” She commented. It then hit her that they were from
different schools, which meant that one student from each school only appears
in one total star. “At this rate, there are four large stars altogether and
everyone else is divided into those.” She said to herself, focusing on the
situation until she saw Pochi. “Oh my gosh, look at that thing, Changmin! It’s
the cute little froggy!!”
Pochi was headbutting its way
against the elementally veiled door in front of itself. While the other
students were trying to unlock their door by brute strength, Ghoul noticed that
Winny had barely arrived. “(Are all El Monte students this slow or something?)”
Winny began to chase after Pochi. “(Mwah… Definitely slow…)”
Sammy rolled her eyes. “Those two
are not focusing on the challenges at all. What simpletons, really.”
The outlining of this star room was
slightly peculiar in a sense that students were able to interact yet interfere
with each other, causing this round to be extremely tedious. In essence, this
match does not impart the state of nature. No laws are taken into account.
Pochi ran under Keith and then across from Sammy. Ghoul knew well to avoid them
by throwing explosive drones at them whenever they came closer.
Sammy jumped back and said to them,
“Damn it. I could predict your movements to have taken me down. That does it,
you have annoyed me long enough!” She began to take out a chain whip that had
spikes all over it. She tried to whip Winny but Winny easily avoided her
movements. “I saw this coming too, that is why…” She whipped Pochi. “I’ll take
down targets that you love so dearly!”
Winny gasped. “POCHI!” She then
yelled to Sammy, “How can you do that to animals? That’s animal abuse.” Her
giddy side said.
Kieth grinned. “Ridiculous… They are
starting to bother me a bit way too much. It is time I do something as well…”

In Yessenia’s round, she had already
started off with an extreme battle against McLargo, a large man who could
create wood and trees out of the ground. This was out of Yessenia’s league
mainly because the room was not built to contain tree size. She had limited
space to avoid as well. Yessenia noticed that Irene, Siyun, and a hooded man
were peacefully trying to break through their own door.
Yessenia complained to McLargo, “Why
the hell are you attacking the only El Monte student here instead of minding
your own business?!”
“I was told to target El Monte, our
main rival school. You are not to win the Elemental Challenges!”
“As if we are close to winning,
there is no point in targeting us if we are last place.”
“It is an order from Layla!”
Yessenia took a step back and then
she made Pinwheels target against the wood. This way, she could destroy any
trees and bark that happen to fly towards her. McLargo clapped his hands
together and three large tree trunks appeared from the ground. Yessenia pushed
herself up with the help of her wind powers. Quickly, she used her other hand
to create a Tornado Spin on herself so she could speedily reach McLargo from a
faraway distance. Irene watched her carefully.
McLargo threw another chunk of wood
at her but Yessenia attacked with a Gust Slash. She broke the wood in half and
then she stabbed McLargo on the arms. He sustained the pain by transforming his
arms into wood. “You may be fast, but my defensive ability pertains at a high
level.”
McLargo pushed her away and then she
swiftly made time to land perfectly on her legs, but kneeling. She became
exhausted. McLargo then clapped his hands again, causing wooden trunks to
appear from below the three other students even at unseenable angles. Yessenia
glared at him, “Smart yet sneaky, I see. Distracting other students from
breaking through their doors so that they cannot win?” She hurriedly threw a
Pinwheel at him and at the same time, she used her left hand to attack her door
with Cyclone.
Irene became irritated. She left her
own area and then she headed for whoever was responsible for the wood. Yessenia
watched as Irene ran down the hall, completely ignoring her. Yessenia watched
as Irene aimlessly ran towards McLargo with her katana. Yessenia called out for
her, “Watch out, he’s tricky!”
“Hmph.” Irene still ignored her. “I
don’t need to be told what to do.” McLargo guarded the same way he guarded
against Yessenia by subordinating his arms as wood.
Yessenia grinned. “He is just going
to do the same thing!”
“Heh, not so smart, are you?”
McLargo chuckled. Irene did not flinch. The wood suddenly electrified and
McLargo became stunned. “Wh-What?!”
Irene jumped away and then she ran
back towards her door. Yessenia was extremely surprised. “But… how?! Just what
is her power?” From a close distance, she could hear Siyun and the hooded man’s
door break open. Yessenia had no time to interfere with them, so she had to
break her own door as fast as she could to place into third or fourth place, at
least before McLargo is released from his stun.

All of the men in Jaime’s star
platform were minding their own business. In a sense, Jaime’s path seemed the
most simple as they were breaking through the doors on their own without
interfering with others. Why Jaime was working on his own door, he said to
Romeo who was conveniently next to him, “So, you said your team took out West,
huh?”
“Yup. It’s sad to let them go,
really, but West was civil. He decided to opt out on his own without having us
decide for him.”
“I thought some of your members are
bad people?”
“I know. I’ve told you that before,
didn’t I?” He chuckled. “It’s what I was thinking… but a lot of us are
misinformed. Something does seem to be wrong though. West is the most civil,
but he tries his best to fight anybody who is against us. I asked how he lost
his mask and he said one time in the first match, he woke up injured and
maskless and he still doesn’t know what happened.”
Jaime became shocked, but he did
nothing. He knew Winny was the culprit. Romeo went on, “Keith said that a girl
named Sammy told him a few lies to keep him motivated. I think Keith didn’t
really want to help us because he was afraid of fighting.”
Jaime
scratched his head. “From what I remember, Keith is an intimidating-looking
guy…”
Romeo
chuckled. “I know, that’s what everyone says. To be honest, he’s a lover, not a
fighter – as corny as that sounds. He likes to hide in peaceful forests in
Arkon’s Magic. He said he does not understand why someone from another school
would lie to him to motivate him to fight seriously in the challenges. That
would only complicate her even more.”
“Maybe
she likes challenges.”
“Just
maybe.” Romeo repeated. “But then, before entering the third match, Keith told
me he could calculate a familiar girl, assumed to be Sammy, to have changed the
story. He said she claims Juliet is alive on Earth, but frozen. All we have to
do is finish the challenges, regardless of which school wins. This made me so
happy!”
Jaime was confused at this point.
Why would Sammy suddenly decide to change her lie and tell the truth about
Juliet’s existence?
~~~
At the same time, Sammy was
finishing her explanation to Keith while Winny and Pochi were still running in
circles. Ghoul was still breaking his own door.
Once Sammy finished, Winny and Pochi came to a stop. Winny said to her,
“Why would you keep a secret about Juliet’s whereabouts?”
Sammy fleshed her hair outward. She
then fixed her glasses and then said in her deep voice, “I had to lie to
Mountain View about Juliet’s existence a while ago. I only did this to boost
Keith and Romeo’s mentality so that they could help stop South El Monte.” She
then pointed at Ghoul who was just about finished breaking his door. “That man
is from South El Monte, and he can potentially mess up Earth’s society if his
team wins.”
“Mwah, why are we pointing fingers
all of the sudden?”
Keith sighed. “You lied to me just
to motivate me so I can fight better?” He frowned afterwards.
Sammy shrugged. “I apologize, but my
predictions say it is best to tell you the truth now.”
“Although my calculations cannot
predict far enough like your direct foretelling powers, I thank you for trying
to help me.” He bowed to her and then he continued to break his door.
Winny, in the background, became
iffy about Sammy. If Sammy has prediction powers, why couldn’t she just use
that advantage to predict the losses and wins against South El Monte in each
match instead of playing around, lying about Juliet’s existence?
The hooded man and Siyun from
Yessenia’s star platform had already broken their doors. McLargo, whose stun
wore off, tried to go into the hooded man’s door in an attempt to ease his way
through the challenge by leeching off of his path, but he was pushed back by a
barrier. Yessenia examined him, realizing that the current match was created so
that each student must enter the center of the star through their own
specialized door. Yessenia then had a plan. She used one hand to cast an Air
Tornado in front of McLargo’s door so that he could not touch the door
directly.
McLargo clenched his teeth. “You bastard!”
Irene closed her eyes from their
annoyance. Her door constantly flashed green until it broke open. McLargo
casted wooden trunks towards Yessenia so that her Air Tornado could be
interrupted. She avoided by jumping back a few steps. However, she accidentally
fell over the shattered door that Irene left for her. She then began to turn
green.
McLargo laughed. “Ahah! What is this
now? Are you weakened?”
Yessenia started coughing. “Ergh…
What is this?”
McLargo smashed open his door after
one last blast with his tree powers. “Hah! It seems you have been poisoned by
that Arroyo girl. Well, it’s time for me to make my way to the end before
everyone else does, see you!”
“Tch!” She clenched her teeth in
anger. “First stun, and now poison… just what is that girl’s power?” She tried
to stand up, hoping that the poison would wear off, but she had trouble
wielding her long sword. “Must… break that door!”
Van was sniffling in her cage which
Maggie was in as well. Like partners in these cells, Jenny and Jon were on the
other side from them. Several minutes have gone by for them since Van began to
cry.
“Alright already, Van! Can you just
shut up? I can’t sleep!” Maggie complained.
Van wiped her tears and then she
tried to speak up, “B-B-B-B-But look at where we are.” She said in a moping
tone. “First, Earth freezes and then we ended up at some weird place in Elsiya.
We tried so hard to fight against those who went against Potrero but we lost.
And then we come back to Earth finding out that it’s still frozen. THEN… THEN…
We’re in jail! We are bad people!” She began crying again.
Jon tried to smile. “Your friend is
really an innocent person, isn’t she?” He said to Jenny.
Jenny giggled. “Eheh, I think so.
Sometimes, I try my best to think positive even in cases like these. Besides,
it’s not the first time I went to prison.” She reminded him about what happened
in the Sunlit Mayhem. She began laughing at the wall behind her for no apparent
reason.
Jon looked away. “You… have some
strange habits. I almost forgot you were a bad girl, being in prison twice in
your life.”
Maggie stood up. “And you two, this
is no time for casual talks and jokes! Look at where we are – in prison!!”
Jon gasped. “H-Hey, calm down! Don’t
go yelling at us.” People from other cells began complaining about their noise.
“Damn it… What should we do now?” He asked.
