Characteristics - Jeanette, morely known as Jen, is Matt's female best friend. She may get feisty and jealous towards others. At first, she seems a bit empty-hearted. As the story goes through, she will show more emotion towards her friends, her family, and even her lovers. Her hobbies are almost similar to Matt's, which is why she is his best friend as they share the same interest. She really enjoys to draw and Matt's passion to write has caused her to do the same. In addition, she finds running as an enjoyment for her free time.
Jen began to enjoy reading as well, starting from episode 9. She is the type of girl who shows lots of care towards others despite her boyish personality. She is kind and sensitive to people she cares about most.
Jen has a sister named Janelle, Jan for short.
Appearance - Jen once had longer hair and blue clothing. Eventually as time passed, she obtained the idea of having shorter hair to pass on her tomboyish appearance.
Story preferences (SPOILERS) -
Starters Arc:
Jen is first shown as a sweet girl. So far, her role is to support Matt at times where he is troubled. However, after Matt gained his fire powers, Jen began having a hard time believing him.
Identity Arc:
Jen's own concerns are based on what Matt is really hiding and why has he lately been hanging out with new friends right when high school began. Her female best friend, Lisa, has been helping her realize what she had never thought of before in the past.
Arkon's Magic Arc:
In this Arc, Danny breaks into her house but not for a bad reason. In accusation, Jen reports this as a crime.
Jen had kept a secret of changing from Geometry Regular to Geometry Accelerated. The reason is because she had to leave Matt alone with his new friends in their period 1 lunch time. She kept strong about it, and may show up less now because of their small portion of split friendship.
El Monte Arc:
Jen is unaware that Erica was a part of Olympia and that she turned into stone. Jen still believes that Erica only moved away. Again, she is unaware of the important situations.
Even after how Jen does not often appear in the story anymore, Matt finds her important. She feels as if he has not given up on her and she wants to do the same. She felt very worried after finding out that Matt had disappeared in El Monte at one point but Matt was simply in another world such as the Forest of Emille.
Echoville Arc:
Lately, Jen had been coping discussions with Stan, Kalpesh, Peter, and Joey about powers. They all suspect that Matt and the others have some significant powers but it is difficult for them, specifically Jen, to figure out any clues.
In recent activity, Jen had appeared in Echoville with Winny. From surprise, Jen decides to run away causing her to become lost in the fictional world. She meets Sudharma and Siren which may be dangerous for her. This is the first time that Jen had experienced the fictional world which Matt had seen since October.
Forest of Emille Arc:
Jen had lost her memory in the end of episode 79 due to Santi's attempt to use his time powers for reversing her memory of Echoville. Unfortunately, Santi's powers malfunctioned and now her memory had reversed a bit too far.
Edmund Arc:
After Jen's memory was lost, Stan discovered that she had forgotten him completely. Stan accuses Matt that he is responsible for Jen's memory loss. Now, Stan constantly brings Jen into Edmund to start her memory all over again, but on the wrong path. Jen is slowly going against Matt.
Luther Arc:
Due to Jen's objection to join back with Matt, she decides to stay with Stan and Luther as she believes that they will serve well for the entire universe. She later returns to Matt with her memory after Luther is defeated.
Rowen Arc:
Jen appears in the Rowen arc midway through within the Whistel Continent. She becomes a prime maid of a cottage with Joseph and Julie, two of her newer friends. She seems to have split up with Stan and Kalpesh when they first appeared in Elsiya. She meets Yessenia's group eventually, learning that Matt is still alive. Later in the events of Trinity Top, Jen rejoices with Matt and they become trapped in the abyss of Dalstidia along with Yessenia. She later returns safely to Tigre Village.
Sunlit Mayhem Arc:
In this arc, Jen watches the Sunlit Mayhem competition and she sometimes comes offstage to talk more about the backstage issues that Matt and his friends are suspecting from Gerald.
Juvenile Arc:
Jen becomes one of the main focuses in the group, wondering how the other students are doing in the Elemental Challenges. Through her, El Monte goes through a sequence of flashbacks before getting to the Covina arc. At the end of the Juvenile arc, Jen and Amy finally sees Matt's group appearing in front of them, but the Covina arc rewinds to when they barely entered the Eternal Nothingness.

Relation to:
Jen is best friends with both Matthew Tran and Stanley Yeung. In classes, she bonds most with Lisa Lau and has had a knowingly long friendship with Erica Chavez. During the earlier episodes, Daniel Cortes appeared several times to have conversations with Jen. In the later episodes, Jen connects more closely with Amy Chieng and Shirl Ma.
During her second year appearance, she bonds more with Julie, Joseph, and Kalpesh Bhana tends to join along her group with Stan.
