Characteristics - Joey so far is seen as the most interesting character in the story. He is a Journalist for the school who has to take a camera and a notebook everywhere with him to report incidents. However, these cameras are the sole purpose in conflicts throughout the story. He has an interest in figuring out Matt's real intentions and who he really is. As the story continues, he will unravel the truth to why he is in Journalism.

Joey re-appears later as the loudest character who grew into the habit of yelling.

Story preferences (SPOILERS) -

Starters Arc:
In the beginning, Joey takes a picture of Matt running towards the flames. When everyone does not remember the incident, including Joey himself, he takes a look at one of his pictures and notices the strange image.

Dispel Arc:
During the dark era of Jon's Dispel powers, Joey struggles even longer to find out Matt's identity, even now with Shirley. At one point, he is kidnapped by Jon as a threat to stop Matt and Shirley from their tracks.

Forest of Emille Arc:
Joey joins together with Jen and their separate friends to discover more of the secrets behind Matt and his friends.

Rowen Arc:
In this arc, Joey makes his reappearance with the power of steel. With this, he is no longer surprised at how "magical" it feels to have powers compared to his first year in high school. He joins Shirley's group to get the Rainbow Mist.

Sunlit Mayhem Arc:
Throughout this arc, he mostly supports Shirley's battle but is also curious as to why Sharon has changed her intentions who now decided to fight against El Monte.

Juvenile Arc:
Joey is seen often times in the background during the reminiscence with Jen. He is also in the Madrid flashback with the others in this school.

Relation to:
Joey is close friends with Peter Ye and Shirley Cao. He also has a large suspicion over Matthew Tran and his elemental power of fire. He slightly bonds with Jeanette Phung and Stanley Yeung in order to find out more about Matt and his friends' secrets.

In his second year, he and Daniel Cortes join together to battle against a leviathan in the Greyton Oasis. This makes Joey find out a strange secret about Danny. Furthermore, it was revealed that Joey had a prior relation to Sharon Tam back in Madrid.
